March 26, 201214 yr I fixed it for you. :thumb: I have admit I had not done a deep dive on this till today and made some assumptions that were wrong. The actions of Zimmerman are clearly wrong and what is also very bad is the cover-up or actions or lack of actions by the local authorities. I do not want cast judgment on the overall case still. But this case was not handled properly by the authorities. There seems to be a strong case for this to go to a grand jury on some charge - manslaughter, 2nd-degree murder or something. There seems to be enough evidence for a grand jury to indicate a trial is warranted. From there the justice system should do its thing. But to keep this situation from even getting to that stage and to apparently try to sweep in under the proverbial rug seems a travesty of justice. Regardless of Zimmermans and Martin's race due process via the justice system is being denied it appears.
March 26, 201214 yr In fact if Zimmerman did not have C&C permit he was breaking the law. It appears he did have C&C permit. Also, he was the captain of the neighborhood watch of a very mixed race community. That makes his actions all the more unreasonable. He had a responsibility to do the right thing and not escalate it into what happened.
March 26, 201214 yr This is going to put the 'stand your ground' law under a lot of focus. Seems it should get a good inspection based on statistics. Reports of justifiable homicides in Florida 2000 32 2001 33 2002 35 2003 32 2004 31 2005 43 2006 33 2007 102 2008 93 2009 105 Five years since Florida enacted "stand-your-ground" law, justifiable homicides are up - Tampa Bay Times George Zimmerman Outrage Mounts As 'Stand Your Ground' Law Defends The Unprovoked Attacker @PolicyMic | Selma Al-Samarrai Author of "stand your ground" law: George Zimmerman should probably be arrested for killing Trayvon Martin - Crimesider - CBS News
March 26, 201214 yr I do think it has become about racial issues. However, I am interested in the information I heard that states that Mr. Zimmerman had called 911 46 times this year. As in, since January. Has anyone else heard this? Can it be verified? If so, maybe he has some vigilante issues...?

I wonder if the bulk of those were as a neighborhood protection guy or if he was just an all out loon.

March 26, 201214 yr Like I said, I do think it's become about race. Notice the "Occupy the Hoodie" protest in Cincinnati. But I'm like you, I wonder if he had issues or was a Bernie Goetz-type vigilante?

Then thedailybeast.com has published a log of the calls: HERE. Apparently the 46 calls were made over the course of 8 years.

Well thank you. I just heard what I posted this morning on 700 wlw. I'm glad to have the accurate information. Thanks again.
March 26, 201214 yr Author I am just fearful this has turned in to such a media circus that Trayvon's family or the accuser will not be given due justice. When you start enlisting Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson - who are more concerned about their own self-interests - to the scene along with the Black Panther Bounty stuff, it just helps diminish all hopes of justice.

Maybe. I don't think this case would have been re-examined had it not been picked up nationally by people outraged over the way it was handled, which generally came from people concerned about race. So, I don't hold it against the family or anyone else for using whatever means they can to get more people interested. I also think once these things get going they take on a life of their own. I think the Black Panthers are obviously destructive to their own cause and their tactics are extreme and deplorable, but how do you get them to stop? They are getting all sorts of publicity because they dutifully fill the opposing narrative that the real victims of racism are white people.
March 27, 201214 yr The race issue is what draws you into the case. However, this is clearly about justice. This is a stupid law and makes no sense. The boy should be alive. And now, this crap they are saying about Trayvon is because they can control your image when you are dead. I've always said that Trayvon probably swung first. Probably because he was tired of this jerk following him. He's 6'3" 140...so was Thomas Hearns. Trayvon probably had crazy reach. The anonymous witness, whom only wants to go by John, has no credibility. ANyone with half a brain can tell that the screams on the 9-1-1 tape can clearly see that the voice sounds like like the one we heard cal police.

In case you were not aware, the original Black Panther party, that included Bobby Seale and Huey P. Newton, stormed the California Statehouse with guns...big mistake.
