March 23, 201214 yr Rumors going around the Gamecocks will hire Martin from K-State and a press conference could be as early as tomorrow...
March 23, 201214 yr Does Frank Martin have ties to South Carolina? If not, I just don't see much sense in this. It'd be like a step down, IMO.

March 24, 201214 yr I don't really think it's that big of a step down, if any. More lateral than anything, in my opinion. With that said, I don't really know why he would make the move... Though I assume it's probably easier to recruit to Columbia than Manhattan. Side note: Frank Martin scares me to death.
March 24, 201214 yr Why in the hell would any remotely successful coach want an SEC job outside of Kentucky or maybe Vandy?
March 24, 201214 yr Why in the hell would any remotely successful coach want an SEC job outside of Kentucky or maybe Vandy? I take it you do not know much about Manhattan, Kansas. Going to the SEC you are obviously second fiddle to football, but a good coach I feel can elevate a program due to the conference's overall strength (which is not good) and retain some southern talent. I also wonder how much of the conference shifting has to play in the decision making of these coaches. Of all the shifting, the SEC appears to be the most stable.
March 26, 201214 yr Jason McIntyre @TheBigLead Lateral move? RT @kentbabb: South Carolina has called a trustees meeting .... Reports from there say it's likely Frank Martin's contract Surprising.
March 26, 201214 yr I can't see why he would do this. At best it's a lateral move. But as an SEC coach I'd be terrified...that he'd want to "take it outside".
March 26, 201214 yr Again, does anyone have any thoughts on the my conference realignment question?Personally I think it would make a lot more of a difference to football coaches. Basketball coaches it shouldn't matter AS much. But was K-State ever on the danger of being left out? I honestly don't remember?
