I have seen neither player so no clue as to who is better between Day and Paige. A question to consider though is this - Who is the better high school player right now? Not who is the better prospect. Not who has more talent. I don't think it is unusual that a player who is clearly a better college prospect will lose an award to a less talented player who had a great high school season. Team results get factored into that as well.

 

 

Perry was 23-5 and Buckhorn was 26-6. Interesting enough Buckhorn defeated Perry in the first round of districts but it looks like they never met in the regular season. Paige had Braxton Beverly for help. Day carried Buckhorn.

I haven't seen any but I'd say they are very similar. Someone on here may have them or can get them.

I got stats.....

 

Day-22.9 points, 51.1% fg, 34.1% 3fg, 69.3% ft, 13.7 rebs.....

 

 

Paige-21.3 points, 56.7% fg, 41.7% 3fg, 65.3% ft, 6.8 rebs.....

I saw them both play. I think Day is a more dominant high school player.

Perry Central could have won the region without Paige. Buckhorn would not have been in the discussion without Day.

There is politics involved in all walks of life, it's part of the process. If I were a coach in the 14th, I probably would have voted for Day based on the info given here. I would not hose a superior talent for being a transfer, but if everything else were equal, it would swing my vote to the local kid.

He's a different type player than Paige. Paige is a 2 guard and Day played forward-center. Paige is better at his position, Day is better at his.

 

Day carried Buckhorn all year long. And his team defeated Paige and his team when it counted the most. Therefore, I would have voted him the MVP of the region. His stats and his team's accomplishments are enough for me.

I think both will have sucessful college careers.

Because as I said in the very first post many respectable people feel that Jaysean Paige is the best player in the state.
