Mayfield's LaBront Scott has transferred to Murray to play football:

Is this true?

And it isn't supposed to "work that way!"

What is the rest of the story?

Details are not clear as to whether this is true, but I have heard from reputable sources that it is a reality. I'm also not sure as to the reason(s) why this may be happening. I'm sure someone more informed than me will clear it all up.

It is true, at this point I don't think I want to air the kids laundry for all to see but he is gone. As for Mayfield, they should still be fine in 1A with the talent on next years team. Where I expect it to hurt the most will be playing the bigger schools like Warren Central, espically early where their depth will not be as good. This is the second Mayfield player to leave the team since the state game. Hughes transferred to Graves County earlier.

Scott enrolled at Murray earlier this week. Some will interpret it as a family issue. Some don't see it that way.

In any case, it doesn't seem to be an amicable parting.

I just finished reading LaBront Scott's Twitter page and I need to take a shower. Words can't describe how nasty Scott's tweets are... I will say another thing, I don't care how good Scott is, after reading that garbage I wouldn't give him a scholarship to "my" school.

I will say this, Scott needs to get some things off of his Twitter account before the KHSAA gets a hold of it. Scott says on there his dad wanted him to wait to end of the school year to transfer but he talked to his dad about spring football practice at Murray and that is why he transferred early. Additionally Scott slams some of his former teammates and his former head coach. Also appears that Scott had issues with some administrators at Mayfield. You can bet they (Mayfield) have already copied every tweet on his page. Ouch...

^ I haven't read the twitter posts, but are you saying there are comments on there that could impact Scott being eligible? From what I understand, his dad is living in Murray so I don't see an issue if he wants to play in the district where he lives with his father. Also, with the way the KHSAA seems to be more lax on transfers these days, why would they step in to prevent Scott for playing for Murray? I look at the transfers that have happened in N. Ky. in various sports over the last year and it seems Scott should have nothing to worry about.

It wasnt long ago that moving in with the other paremt was not a valid reason to grant a waiver.

Saw the tweets. Disappointing.

Voice, based on his twitter posts I think you can make a case that is he transferring to Murray (at least in part) to play football. So I think he should remove the posts to not put his transfer under more scrutiny than it is already going to receive.

He also stated Mayfield is fighting the transfer about where he is living and where his dad lives. He said something about moving in with his dad's girlfriend but frankly there are so many racist/sexist/sexual tweets among other things it is hard to read with a critical eye.

What if you weren't living with either parent and moved in with a parent who just recently moved back into the state?

The Sullivan case comes to mind, but so does the Dunn case. So who knows how the KHSAA would look at it? As I said, when you look at the various transfer cases over the past year in N. Ky., there seems to be no rhyme or reason to what they are doing these days in these transfer cases.

I agree on the surface the KHSAA seems to lack consistency when it comes to transfers. All I am saying is LaBront is not doing anything to help himself. And while I am on the topic, where the bleep are his parents in his life!? Take some time and check out your son's twitter page...

... where the bleep are his parents in his life!?
