Bengals Have $50M to Spend

Featured Replies

Bengals are 1 of 4 teams entering free agency on Tuesday with more than $40M in cap space room. Bengals have $49.9M.

However, in 2013 there is no requirement that the team spend a certain % of the cap money.

^ He will spend maybe 10M. He won't do it until he is forced to.

He doesn't have to spend it until next year. I'm just hoping he doesn't throw tons of money at players who aren't worth what he pays.

I would like to see the Bengals keep some of their own Free Agents first. Second, I would look at FA WRs, CBs, and OGs.

I think we need at least one more solid WR and a corner to boot.

I also would like to see us in the market for a DL/DT just because I think its never a bad idea to get guys who are good in the trenches.

As a result of some violation by the Redskins and Cowboys each team's cap number went up $1.6M so the Bengals are at $51.5M under.

I started a thread on it. Cowboys lose $10 million and the Redskins lose $36 million split up over the next two years any way they want.

This helps teams like the Giants, who were right at the limit regarding the cap.

Texans cut OT Eric Winston because of cap problems. Peter King calls him a top-5 tackle.

Would you sign him if you're Mike Brown?

Our problem is we appear to be very solid at T and need guards.

However, to answer your question, yes I would be interested in him and then I would look at moving Whit or Smith to OG.

Whit has been solid for the Bengals at T, but I think he'd be a much better Guard. Smith is a T and only a T.

I didn't see it as much with Dalton but with Palmer I thought Whit ended up too deep in the backfield (too often) and obstructed Palmer's throwing lane.

I just wonder if the Bengals will make a move here. I think it is further complicated by Anthony Collins who is a decent tackle but not interested in guard. In other words, bringing another tackle in could be a chemistry problem.

The Bengals did pretty good last year in signing free agents. I think they will get some solid players this hopefully 2 corners and and a safety.
