  1. http://scoreboard.12dt.com/scoreboard/khsaa/kyba2/11141 Above is a link to how many games Ballard played at Cocoa in 2002. 5 games(total, not in one day) for the entire tournament. On day one they played a doubleheader and that was the only day they played more than one game per day.
  2. What-a-fan, Now you want a baseball coach the same caliber of Szabo?? BTW, these sophmore baseball players that you say might only be only be able to throw 50 mph, did you verify that with a radar gun before you publicly degraded their ability and Coach Tompkins decison to select them?
  3. MBW, surely you mistyped..."4 to 7 games a day". That would be a season worth of games if you played all week at that rate.
  4. The magic may be gone at CAL with the departure of Gray. Eastern has the stud pitching staff. Manual has a very good staff as well with Doering, Pearcy, Klondike and Harness. In a 1 and done scenario Ballard and Trinity are dangerous with Mcombs and Littrell. Male has strong senior and junior position players, maybe thin on the hill. X has quality players at every position, the big question is the emergence of a shutdown pitcher. Should be wide open once again with the draw and the ability to save pitching playing a big role.
  5. Strongs senior class means back up roles for many of the X juniors.
  6. "If Daylen does gets cut in baseball he will consentrate on track." I don't see that happening. He's a lock for making jv and starting. If his hitting continues where it ended last year he should earn varsity time in CF when Sweeney pitches. Sorry to jack baseball into a football thread.
  7. Coach, the system needs more like you. Keep up the hard work!
  8. Sparky, Great post and I appreciate you sharing your son's experience. After his medical issues were diagnosed did he attend high school, and if so, how did he do academically?

  10. He's a member of the church, just doesn't go to school there.
  11. When are these parents going to let their children out of the cocoon and into the real world? If you want your child to play SCHOOL sports then freaking send them to SCHOOL.
  12. Ditto....What next, a bill to allow non-college students to play college football?
  13. I have no doubt Bowling could handle center...but typically you put your speediest outfielder in center and the strongest arm in right. Bowling is not slow, does break on the ball very well but I question whether they have a stronger outfield arm than him to put in right. With Littrell throwing as hard as he is now I imagine right field will get plenty of action against better opponents. Ths, will Torry Cannon get a look at an outfield spot?
  14. While I am generally opposed to a multi-class system, I am aware that are a segment of schools who routinely get pounded by traditional baseball powerhouses (ie PRP v. Portland Christian in Region 6 tourney) and I would therefore not be opposed to making the All A Classic the "All A state tournament". However, I think schools should be given the option to play up in class (4 year commitment). I would not favor a 3 or 4 class system because history proves that in the last 20 years non 6A schools win the title as often as 6A schools. The purpose behind a class system is presumably to give schools a level playing field upon which to compete. But, if the playing field is already level why should a smaller school be forced down into the "minors"? The problem also is that you have some larger schools( a few in Jefferson County) who can barely field a team and if you force them to play in the largest class you would still have the problem of 30-0 blowouts in the opening round of region.
  15. No doubt the bat can't fix your swing or eyes. But, there is often a difference between how far and fast a ball goes that has been struck by a $50 bat or $500 bat. The difference is sometimes as significant as homerun versus a fly out or a seeing eye single versus an infield pop out.
  16. Very true...same size Easton feels different than size Exogrid. The stiff handle Easton seems to have more durability than the flex Easton. My son has used his for season and a half, hoping to get another one out of it.
  17. Good, big school football teams play 35 to 40 kids a game assuming the game is close. 11 on offense, 11 on defense, special teams, 2nd team lineman and linebackers, running backs, etc...In high school baseball you can be very good playing the same 9 or 10 kids the whole season. Doesn't work in football. Big, big difference in the two sports.
  18. On the flip side, with Jenkins out somebody for Manual is getting valuable minutes and experience that could pay dividends come playoff time. I think the key for Manual is getting Jenkins 100% healthy by playoffs. The chemistry should work itself out. Sounds like Manual's big man is improving offensively each game and maybe with Jenkins out he's getting more scoring opportunities and gaining confidence.
  19. Pitchers--Alphin, BE; Harper, PRP; Bowles, BE, Gibson, PRP; Porter, Holy Cross Catchers--Banks, PRP; Bale, Butler SS--Bowles, BE; Hockman, PRP 2B--? 3B--Von Kannel, PRP; Brown, Butler 1B--Justin Jones, BE OF- McCarthy, BE ???
  20. 21. Tough schedules seem to work for Central. The injury risk is present regardless of who you play.
  22. Gott should be on the list. He throws gas, smooth shortstop and good hitter.
  23. Let's see, in 2008 HC beat every A school on their schedule except Mayfield in RD 2 of playoffs. They also beat 6A South Oldham and 3A Elizabethtown who lost in RD 3 to eventual state champion Central. The basketball team is 3-10 right now, is Coach Durham next?
