  1. What you say is true...X can defeat 99% of their opponents on a regular basis with a running QB and stable of good backs and they seem content to stick with that philosophy. But,there are some X faithful who would rather defeat that school on Shelbyville Rd. in November or December on a regular basis. IMVHO, that requires a QB who can stretch the defense with the pass and is mobile enough to buy time in the pocket and tuck it and run if needed. If that means losing a couple regular season games to Male or Manual but improving as the season progresses to the point that X wins a title I would prefer that over an undefeated regular season and runner-up trophy.
  2. Leonhert has been hands down the more accurate passer. I agree with GreenDandy, Brohm's game is power running and FB would be his best spot.
  3. X JV's held to their lowest scoring output since Moeller game in Aug.07. Xavier Thomas ran well for the Rocks. X had chance to win the game with 2 mins. left inside the 5 but the Rock D stiffened and held the Tigers out.
  4. No, it wouldn't be honorable to forfeit or just show up and get beaten down. THS was giving credit to the X program by predicting a respectable 17-0 outcome.
  5. Good analysis. Trinity posting a shutout would be painful to watch...but I wouldn't be a bit surprised.
  6. I agree it hinges on whether he has participated in varsity competition....if he has I'm not sure returning to his original school eliminates the sit out penalty. If hasn't played varsity in any sport he should be eligible.
  7. Whiting and Messina draw a lot of deserved attention and accolades...but the real test is whether X's offensive line can block a very quick and nasty Rock D-line. If not, it will be a long night for the Tigers offense.
  8. Change is often good...I'm sure BG will be a great host town. I'm just not convinced that attendance will be better served by playing there on Saturdays. I'm also not convinced it will be just "one year". I think if attendance is decent BG will keep this for a good while...at least until Bellarmine start a football program and has a synthetic turf stadium large enough to host it.
  9. It sounded like the KHSAA refused to accept Thursday as an alternate day to Saturday if UL was scheduled to play at home. Tacket said the Thursday games were unpopular and that attendance was down. Does anyone have the numbers on how attendance compared in 07 to years past? Personally, I thought the Thursday games were great. I attended and was neither an alumni or parent of any of the participating schools. It was the only show in town. Saturday games in Bowling Green may have fans like me(parents and ardent supporters will there regardless of when and where the game is played) torn between going to Papa John's or Commonwealth, sitting in front of the TV to watch good college games or traveling 4 hours roundtrip to watch good high school football. My prediction is that attendance in Bowling Green will be down compared to Louisville in 07.
  10. Yes...after watching film of the JV Rocks dismantling Cincy X a decision was made to bring down some JR. offensive linemen for the saftey of the Tiger offensive backs.
  11. The party get's started today, 5:30 on Shelbyville Rd. when the JV's rumble. This will be the JV Tigers first real challenge since the Moeller game back in August of 07. This will be the first time this group will enter a game as underdogs. This JV Rocks squad already has soundly defeated Cincy X and is a new and improved version of the 07 Freshmen Rocks. IMO, the Tigers will have to play inspired, perfect, mistake free football to have a chance in this one. Good luck X JV's and may we have an injury free contest for both teams!

  13. Yeah, but it was 6-0 at half and Manual stalled twice in the red zone. The first half looked very even. Manual looked bigger than us on the line. Zach Montgomery had a great TD run in the first half to give the Tigers a spark.
  14. We've played juniors in every JV game so far....you know, if you can't beat'em, join'em.
  15. How is Mr. Lamar doing for Boyle? Watched him as a freshman when Boyle beat Trinity...he looked like he had the ability to be something special.

  17. Jim, seriously...I expect a good game between X and T as often is the case. Both look very strong. The difference is that X has not been tested. T took on Cincy X and came away with a convincing win and a national ranking. I have to give the edge to T based on strength of defense.
  18. This what a Cincy X fan posted on Yappi: "X just got outcoached. I've never seen Specht pull out the old Marvin Lewis technique of just throwing your hands up in the air when your players don't do their assignments. He was frustrated. Every "out" he went to was subsequently destroyed by Trinity. Personally, I have NEVER seen such a well oiled machine on both offense and defense besides De Lasalle in 2006 and the late great 04 team from Colerain. They were doing things on defense I have never even seen before and I am big into the X's and O's, all the way from gradeschool ball up to the pro's. All the motions, the presnap formation shifts, and simply breaking the huddle and lining up in what seemed milliseconds just proved to be too "advanced" for X. It seemed like a giant was controlling the Shamrocks on Madden 2007 with all the shifting and movements, I am dead serious. I'm not ashamed to say that either. Yea, I would've like to have seen a different outcome but that team was dang good, they belong in the top 10 in the nation and I bet they end up there at the end of the season, no team should beat them in KY. Based on pure, raw athletic talent, I think both teams were about even...just Trinity used their athletes in a much more efficient and well coached manner. Insofar as consistently matching up KY elite every year with Ohio, give me a break. There are only a few states in the country that could consistently matchup with Ohio's elite and KY is not one of those two to three states." I guess Lou X should be 2 or 3 touchdown dogs come Oct.3...
  19. I got your sarcasm...course I'm Xavierian educated.
  20. Durrett Demons Moore Mustangs Westport Warhawks(I admit, I cheated on this one)
  21. I wonder whether any games will be played in Jefferson County friday night....school is out again...if they have school Thursday that leaves basically one day of preperation.
