Baby steps, first make it to the playoffs(which it looks like we did this year) next try to work towards a win in the playoffs and then so - on & so - on. I can gaurantee that the Raiders will continue to work hard I just hope they have 50 in the weightroom during the off season!

Great lead in Banker. No excuses, McCraery hit the field ready to play after the best week of practice all year. My hats are off to Rockcastle they were an outstanding team and simply out played the Raiders at every aspect of the game. Their offensive line dominated ours as did their defensive line. They were very physical and at half time the coaches from Mccreary coneeded that Rockcastle was probably twice as strong as the Raiders position for position acrossed the board. This was a good marker for McCreary because it shows them where they need to go in order to be a top contender in 4-A (1st and foremost they need to hit the weightroom. i think there were only a handful of flags thrown so both teams showed discipline and good technigue. Rocks defense was super and I think only gave up one 1st down in the 1st half. It is hard to keep a team like Rockcastle from scoring 51 when you can't keep their offense off of the field. There was one bright point I think for the Raiders and that was their JV team. from late in the 3rd quarter on, Mccreary had all freshmen and sophmores playing defese except 1 senior who hadn't had any playing time and all freshmen and sophmores on offense and they played very well. i would like to say that we were treated with respect and class from the fans and the Rockcastle players and coaching staff. With the exception of getting our butts royally kicked it was a great night for football. Again congrats to Rockcastle and good luck the rest of the way.

I don't think I am making to much of the Knox game, it is what it is. I do agree that a really good team would not give up 20 points at the end of the game (we actually gave them up in about 6 min). A TD, a recovered onside kick with a quick score and a punt return inside the 10 after a three an out by McCreary and you have 20 quick points. But remember, this run oriented team had to score half of its points through the air which says a lot about McCreary's run defense and now their pass defense is much improved which they proved against Madison Southern. I am not making any claims of McCreary being able to beat Rockcastle, I am just saying that Mccreary could make it an interesting game to watch if they come to play. IMO!

Don't take madison So. to lightly. They are a team full of athletes. They have played some good teams early in their schedule but they have had discipline problems which has led to a lot of penalty yards. If they can pull things together they can be a very good football team. So, I wouldn't overlook them no matter what! IMHO

That is true. but the Raiders played Knox very close for most of the game. W-burg and leslie could have went either way (both very close games). Clinton is not a very good team but the win against Madison So. was a win against a very good team and they may have the all around most athletic team I have seen this year (they have only one 1 game but they have a monsterous schedule). As I said before, I am not making any excuses about the Oneida game the Raiders simply didn't show up to play and if they do that this week Rockcastle will beat them by 60. However, I think McCreary will get refocused and come out to play some football this week and that is all I am saying. If Mccreary comes to play it should be at the very least an interesting game to watch. Good luck to Rockcastle and I hope we have a great game to watch.

I am not saying any of you is wrong about predicting such one-sided scores! However, I can tell you this. With 10 min left to go in the Knox game the score was 12-6 and any team that put up big numbers (with the exception of Oneida TN) were pass oreinted teams. The Raiders improved greatly on their pass defense and showed that against Madison So., even though it is still the weakest part of their "D". They have shown that they are a very good run stopping defense this year (I believe that is what Rockcastle does best) with the exceptinon of the Oneida game. I have no excuse for that game, the Raiders didn't show up to play and Oneida did. That has happened to every team in the country at one time or another. I don't blame the Raider football player's because the coaching staff should have spotted the lack of motivation and found a way to get theiir team ready to play. I think we will find out what kind of grit the Raiders have and in a short week we will find out if the coaching staff can coach! I think the Raiders will put on a good show and at the end of the day, win or lose, the Rockets will know that they were in a football game.:fight:

I can tell you that McCreary did not show up against Oneida and Oneida was well prepared and fired up for the KY/TN rivalry. No excuses Oneida was ready to play and McCreary was not. This will be a short week as this game will be played on Thursday. If Mccreary doesn't get prepared it will get ugly in a hurry. If they get focused and come out playing their best then maybe they can slow down the bleeding. I would like to see the Mccreary football program get to the level of the Rocks and Bells in the near future because I have a son who is just starting to play and would like for him to play in a strong high school program. I am not going to make a prediction on this game but wish McCreary luck and hope they come to play!

I went to college with Jeff Robbins and he is a great guy who cares about the kids he coaches. He has done a great job at Marion Co and should definately be considered. Good Job Jeff from those who know you in McCreary County! If he doesn't get on here please pass my message on to him!

McCreary County is in the playoffs for the first time in the history of their program. I they have played evryone ontheir schedule very close. They have a tough schedule and they are in the toughest district in 4-A while it is the 1st year they have been back in district play. So, i would have to believe that Clinton Gay would be in the running somewhere? 1) Clinton Gay MC 2) Johnny Hines PC

I think you and others will be surpeised if you think that the defense will be lacking. Mccreary is steadily improving on the defensive side of the ball and if you have been at everyone of their games you would be able to see the defensive evolution from week to week. They are in the playoffs this year and by then (if they stay health, knock on wood) they will be a solid defensive team!

Oneida lost 2 weeks ago to Cumberland Gap who is not that strong of a team and then beat Oakdale 41-0 who has an 8 lit rate which is 3rd from the bottom out of all the Tn schools. I think their only other win was against Caolfield who usually has a good team but that was like the 1st or second week of the season and I think that the win shocked some people. Oneida has tradition when it comes to football and they have never been beaten by Mccreary so I look for them to be completly pumped for this game and I am sure that Coach Tony Lambert has had them working their butts off this week. Coach Lambert is a very good coach. This will be a good game and I think the fans will get their money's worth.

IMO there are going to be some very surprised individuals after this game is over. Madison So has some of the best athletes I have seen on one team this year and their line is huge with good athletisism. Football is all about match-ups and that is why certain teams beat teams that have been beaten by the team they beat! (don't try to say that real fast). You all know what I mean. IMO Madison So will match-up great with W-burg and if they play without losing their heads they will beat W-burg 2 or 3 TD's. With that being said, they will have to play to their potential and they will have to play together because W-burg has a lot of heart and are still very talented. I agree with you Capn' and i think that refs only throw flags on what they see but there is also a thing called "a good no call". I have coached for 21 years and in that time I also have been a ref from time to time. There are times when you don't call certain things that has no bearing on a particular play, this allows the game to flow and doesn't put the spot light on the ref crew. At this particular game the refs were flag happy, not saying they didn't see the infractions that they called, I'm just saying they probably didn't have to call everything they called. The game was a good game and I know that Qb7footballfan thinks that madison was a better team and he/she is a fan and should feel that way. Madison definately jumped out to an early lead but McCreary mad several adjustments on defense to slow them down and Madison had no answer for the Raiders offense, the only time the Raiders offense stalled was when the fumbled or had some pemalties. The Raiders were playing a power-run type offense after the 1st quarter where they only wanted to pick up 3-4 yards a play x 3 = 1st down. So, any penalty that they received would hstop there game plan. I have to disagree with the fact that Madison was a much better team because that simply isn't true. Madison is a very good football team but so is McCreary. I think people are just having a hard time realizing that McCreary is working hard to improve their football program and their efforts are starting to pay off and they are not the easy win of the past. Do refs change how some games are played? Absolutely buit the refs didn't decide this game McCreary played through the diversity and won the game. We have lost a player because he retaliated after being punched by an opposing player and we chewed his butt for retaliating. We didn't blame Madison's player because it was a war out there and sometimes players lose control, obviously our player was one of them and we pointed out to him how that hurts the team. This was a good game and both teams played as hard as they could and it is definately ashame that the officials were passing out laundry like it was a sale at Wal-marts but that is just part of the game. If McCreary wasn't a good team non of that would have mattered. Again, good luck to Madison So with their seaon I am sure they will be ready for the Burg on Friday!

McCreary is just off probably their biggest win in schools history and they go to Tn. and face an average Onieda team. I think the Raiders offense will influence the outcome of this game more so than the defense. I pick the raiders 32-12.

I just wanted to say that I read all of these posts with an open mind and i agree that the refs were flag happy. However, I only read how many penalties and yards penalized that Madison So. received. 175 yards is a lot of penalties but on the other side of the coin McCreary received 145 yards in penalties and had 2 TD's called back. The Raiders went through 3 games early in the season where the Refs and their calls played a roll in the way the game was played and the coaching staff at McCreary tried to drill in their players head that no matter what happens they should stay focused on the game. The Raiders did that for the most part on Friday night. Out of all 3 of those games where coaches and fans alike were upset with the striped shirts not one McCreary fan or coach blamed the other team, told the other team that they should be ashamed of the win or threaten the other teams head coach(I witnessed these things with my own eyes and ears.......so it is not hearsay). It is a shame that two ball clubs can go to battle on the gridiron and both sides play as hard as they can and when it is over be civil to each other no matter who won or who loss! All I know is that the Raiders played a hard fought football game and won 16-14. No matter how you feel about the officiating, those boys deserve the respect for playing a hard fought game and they deserve the right to celebrate along with their fans. I wish the very best to Madison Southern on the rest of their season.

Who is going to win this one. madison has a spread type offense and they like to throw it some which plays against the weakness of MC. I am not sure if MDison can stop MC. Should be another barn burner! McCreary 42-28

I am not 100% sure but I think the 13th. It was Ralph Woods's crew. All of them did a great job except for the umpire and he acted like he had a personal ax to grind with McCreary Co and he acted the same way in the W-burg game. He may not have an ax to grind it may just seem that way, he might just be that inept!

I have already replied to your statements in the last thread HT721 but I want to make myself clear. No coaches have blamed any ref for the loss of any game and we told our kids that both the W-burg and Leslie loss were due to the lack of focus on their part and with the Leslie game we blamed poor tackling and the lack of mental focus. Never have we blammed the refs. With the KC game we still did not blame the refs, we told our kids that they played hard but let the officiating get to the heads and they loss mental focus and they were told they would never when the big games unless they learned to deal with adversity and stay mentally tough. I personall heard the umpire tell one of my kidds to "shut the FU** up" he was goading our kids and them threating to throw them out when they got upset. The umpire has a personal agenda with MC so he need to recuse himself anytime his crew officiates a MC game, he has no class or he wouldn't treat kids the way he does, and that is just my opinion of course, he may be just that stupid and irresposible! I hope everyone now knows that the coaching staff hasn't blamed anyone for any of their losses except themselves for not properly prepareing their players, both mentally and fundamentally (ie..... tackling) to finish these games as strong as they started them. We are working as hard as we can as coaches to rectify our mistakes and to proplerly prepare our team for the next opponent. HT721 you have faulty information and I have to say if you post information that is not true then you are just posting lies and that makes you a liar! Get your facts straight!

I give a lot of credit to Coach Mills and the job he and the KC team and staff has done. I don't want to take anything away from the job those boys did tonight, they played a great ball game. Now, the final ended up being 32-6. With 10 min to go in the game the score was 12-6. Knox scored twice in the 1st half, both on passes over the top of the defense (McCreary struggles in that department). McCreary held KC to under 90 yards rushing in the 1st half and I am not sure yet what the 2nd half stats are. There were a lot of things that happened in the last 10 min that changed the course of this game but the biggest factor (and i hate to say it) was the officiating. I personally know most of the crew and I like them but the umpire mad some calls that plain out sucked! Know I will be the first to tell you that officials do not win or lose ball games but this official really changed the over all attitude of the McCreary Co. kids and put them into a tail spin mentally and motivationally. He actually goated the McCreary kids into aurguments and then threatened to throw them out of the game when they argued! Well, with that being said, i posted on the earlier site that the team who made less offensive mistakes and the team that came up with big plays on special teams would win the game and KC got 2 on-side kick recoveries and a punt return that went inside the 10. Those were the key plays in the second half. I will try to get the official stats before the weekend is over but I think that McCreary had more rushing yards than KC did but I not sure. Either way McCreary played KC much, much better than the 32-6 score shows. Without some of the BS from the umpire (just one bad official) and this game could have very well stayed 12-6 but there is no way to tell because the BS did happen. I just hope that fans from both schools realize that this was a very, very tightly played ballgame that anyone could have won for most of the game! I am very proud with the way the Raiders played tonight and I think they will make a statement before the year is over. Again, congradulations to Coach Mills and the KC football team they played excellent football. Also, the KC fans were very hospitible and polite. I really enjoyed the game: to bad we have to have officials!

I don't know where you got your information but you are wrong. He is a sophmore and he will be eligible his senior year. Make sure you get your facts straight before you post on here. All misinformed information does is turn in to rumors and accusations and niether of those things are healthy for a program. So, I will state again, the Watts kid is a sophmore and he will be eligible to play his senior year!
