  1. FYI: Who cares how many points were given up as long as your team has the most!!!
  2. I am a Rock fan, but I was there till 2:30 this morning and PCHS deserved to win this game. The cramping situation may just comr=e down to pure toughness. SHS had 12-14 players laying on the field after each possession offensively to PCHS'S 0. It was hot and humid for everone. Did SHS not have the proper conditionind or hydration? Point your finger at whatever you want Rock and PCHS came to play the other teams did not. Everyone and their brother knew that it was going to be ridiculously hot and only the 2 winners seemed prepared.
  3. I totally understand your point Keemo. Well said and I do agree with all of what you just said, but I also believe that if the kids had just a soft game here and there they would stay helathier and increase their post season chances and that the kids will care about more than who they lost to.
  4. I have read several of these posts and I am a Rock fan and looking back on the Riherds scoreboard I cannot see that playing the hardest schedule has really helped SW out that much. I may be missing something on the KHSAA website, but SW hasn't made it very far in the playoffs in the years that are posted on the website. Playing a really tough schedule is great for the Football fans, but no so great when players are being lost due to injury prior to the playoffs. Rock has tremendous tradition and a 2 state runners up. Rock 28 SW 17 SHS 40 PC 14
  5. You are correct but not many of them run a consistent 4.4 40 yard dash and carry grades as high as Cole's are being reported on here. I did a little checking and according to Chics Did Scars all the really good baseball players are drafted out of High School, yet in the 2007 All Star game 21 players attended college. Including Barry Bonds (Arizona State) 22 High School draftees and 23 foreign born players.
  6. Chics dig scars. Yes full baseball money is rarely offered, but take into account academic money and financial aid and the money is there. According to the grades that Cole has it seems that academic money would be maxed out and baseball would work out anywhere he wanted to play. How many people do you know that were drafted out og high school at all especially in our state? Not very many Ben Revere and who else. Some players need to go to college to fine tune their baseball ability. I hope John does what he wants to do, but baseball is a good option and with his grades scholarships would not be a problem and chances are neither would a concussion or worse.
  7. Why not play baseball at Vanderbilt? He has the grades and the ability. They were the number 1 team in the nation in baseball most of the season. Just my opinion.
  8. After watching Cole the past two years and watching our team prepare to play the SHS team each time all I heard was how great Cole was and how important it was to keep him off base. Well the hype matched his game. I said earlier that he was a great football player, but after talking to a few college coaches and some area scouts signing to play football would be a big mistake. He is being recruited by Louisville a College World Series finalist and UK academically speaking Vanderbilt and Stanford are way ahead of these schools, but athletically not so much. Cole you are a better football player right now, but how great of a baseball player will you be in 3 years and if you play football the injury chances greatly increase.
  9. If Coach Mac was the one who spoke to Purdue then that is great. I am just repeating what I heard from John's uncle. I do not know John personally, but we played them 2 times this year and his dad and uncle were in Richmond last week and told me that the SHS coach had told Purdue about him. I was not giving the SHS faithful any credit. I just wanted to know why John chose Purdue over one of the state schools.
  10. I hope that he chooses to play baseball. I watched him play against my Rockets the last 2 years and he is unreal. Baseball is a real skilled sport that can sometime get in your head, Football is totally different. If you can run faster than everyone else and have a quarterback than can throw down field then you will have great success. I say that with no disrespect to Football intended. Hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in all of sports. I spoke to several area scouts at the Junior East- West game and every one of the major league scouts had come to see John Cole during the workouts. They said that Grundy at SHS never told them that John had made a committment to go to the Vanderbilt football camp that same weekend and had decided to miss the All Star game. I am no major league scout, but I know great baseball and Cole has all the ability to play baseball at the highest level.
  11. You are right Keemo. The only people that can change information is that school. Each school receives a password and all information on the website can be changed only if you have that pass code. Somerset cannot change another teams schedule and vice versa. It looks like Somerset stood up Mercer and left Mercer hanging in the wind.
  12. Is Coach Jaggers saying that we was lied to? Could it just be a failure in communication? I hope so Somerset has played in the worst District in the state for several years, but have always played a strong early schedule. I am a Rock fan, but follow the Jumpers every year and am really worried that Coach Cobb may have brought some very negative attention to that program. You need to stand by your word, whether there was a signed contract or not.
  13. I agree that coaches should help anyone that they can, and I am not saying Coach Grundy did anything wrong. I just thought with all of the hostility between the Perkins boys and the Somerset faithful that an SHS coach would be the last person to help John out. Good Luck to John it is a big opportunity for you.
  14. I spoke to John Perkins' Uncle and he said that Coach Grundy at Somerset had called Purdue and helped John get together with Purdue. Why would Coach Grundy help John and why send him to Purdue instead of one of the State universities? I would have loved to see John at UK or Eastern.
  15. I will chime in on the 12th Region. Best Team: Somerset Most Overrated Team: Boyle County Most Underrated Team: Rockcatle Best Coach: J.D. Bussell at Rock (or Grundy at SHS) Most Overrated Player: Green at West Jessamine Most Underrated Player: Dakota Smith at Rock and Scott Moody at Somerset Best Player in Region: Rich Witten Best Game: a Tie SHS V. Mercer in Semi's and SHS V. W. Jessamine in Finals SHS had a 10 run 4th. Just my take on the 12th
  16. I saw the Jumpers play in the Region and they seemed like they actully believed that they could beat anyone. I was really suprised by their poor showing at State. I'd put my money on the Jumpers in 2008. They looked to have played a great schedule last year and that seemed to prepare them for tournament time. I really enjoyed watching them play and they sure brought a huge crowd to their games in McCreary.
  17. I just found out that Somerset has cancelled most if not all of the summer passing leagues. That cannot be a good sign for Coach Lucas. I would hope that Coach Lucas would at least get some real consideration from the administration.
