Also the turnover in coaches IMO is cause a lot of them are getting fired by supers and prin who don't know what a coach is or should be. How do you fire a guy in public school football that has 4 out of 6 very good years and then losses a lot of starters and the next year gets beat with a bunch of young kids and then gets fired. ITS PUBLIC SCHOOL FOOTBALL YOU WILL HAVE BAD YEARS!!!!! That is unless you do what some do and go and get kids from other peoples programs!

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. I will say I think a lot of it is most schools in our state still have the same coaching supplements (the money for that asst spot) that it was 30 years ago. So asst coaches are making about 5cents an hour. IT IS A JOKE!!!!! I will have to disagree with you that the supers and prin are doing a pretty good job. We have a bunch of supers and prin in our state that never coached or played a sport so they don't value it. Sorry if I hurt some feelings here but this is my take on things. You have people in charge that the only thing they have been in charge of was a classroom. They cant manage people, they cant fire up a teaching staff. I just think our leadership in our schools is not very good.

And I will say this Harry as a coach no matter what you make you owe it to your football team to work hard for them. And believe me I agree coaches in this state don't make near what they should BUT if you are doing a job then do it to the best of your ability no matter how much you make. Dang I sound like my dad.

I know so these guys shouldn't have to be running the jr pro league. I would beat if you look outside of our hoops state(we don't hardly produce a D1 hoopster) into football states I would bet that the high school coaches aren't over running the jr pro league on Saturdays.

No problem jr pro running the high school plays but I just cant wrap my head around a high school coaching staff over at jr pro games all Saturday when they need to be getting ready to try and win a football game

I just cant get up with the idea of the head coach running these jr pro programs. He needs to be worried about winning varsity games. Anytime away from working on the varsity program during the season just doesn't make sense. imo

I for one believe that now you are getting people that can quote all this educational stuff but cant lead or identify people that can lead. And from what I am hearing there are more discipline problems in our schools than in the history of our country and I believe a lot of it has to do with not having old coaches in admin positions. Just saying.

Also Harry to add to what you are saying is when does a head coach that is worth a dang have the time to go back and get all these degrees? If he is worth a dang he is working with his team. No time for these guys to go and get all this :poop: that you have to have now to be a so called leader!!!

I think you have to have people on the committee that know football or at least get some coaches in on the interview.

The job interviews you had was a family member of someone else to be interviewed on the committee? Cause from what I hear there are most of the time 2 or 3 parents, so I am guessing they have an agenda. Such has but not limited to, my sons is QB I want a guy that is going to throw it every play or my son is a running back I am going to get a guy that runs the ball. So basically damn the team I want what is best for my boy.

Rambo in this day and time admin no nothing about coaching. Back in the day they were old coaches, today they are history teachers that have only run a classroom. Most know nothing about hiring coaches or even what a coach does. Again we are a joke in our state about hiring coaches

How many people on these committees know anything about football? I am guessing most of them don't know the first thing much less ask a coach to get on the board and block out a play or stop a play! We are really a joke in KY how we handle hiring football coaches!

No No I just mean hire a guy that has been a head coach if you can get one. I am not one of those Mcpeek guys he was busted and that is that. I am just saying anyone that is a proven head coach you know what you are getting.

You hire a head coach that is a proven winner so you know for sure what you are getting. If he leaves you in 2 years he has probable done a HECK of a job. Hey brother if you can date ms. America even thou you know she wont marry you would you date her? I WOULD!!!!!

Don't give me that horse :poop:!!! Trinity has a monopoly, when you win that many and there are very few public schools in a 40 year span that win state title (and Male and Manual are not public cause they can pick and choose also) if is a joke. Public schools don't have the ability to get kids from a 8 county radius and 2 states. Give coaches at public schools 2 or 3 of the best players from surrounding counties and they would be pretty good to. And there have been some county schools that have done that and they have won a few state titles.

Try like 10 out of 11 years winning titles!!!!! It is a joke!!!!

I have said this several times. The days of principals and supers being old coaches is over, is that good or bad. Well I do know that discipline problems in our public schools is at an all time high, you have supers and principals that have never run anything but a class room and know nothing about real discipline, building team unity or bringing people together for a common good. Just look at how big colleges are hiring business people to run the athletic programs and then when they need to hire a coach those same ADs have to go hire a search committee to find one. Kind of like paying a body guard so he can call the police if you need help! Today the only thing that most Principals and supers care about is test scores!!! So the question is why have sports if you aren't going to try and be the best?

It is pretty obvious that the admin is to blame here. When divorced 1 or 2 times it might be your wives fault, BUT 5 OR 6 times you got problems brother!!!! So fire the admin they are the cause they would fire a coach for such ineptness!!!!

Why you think it is out of hand in GA. I am sure that the guys that are making that much money work 90 or more hours a week and their programs probable bring in 3 or 400,000 a year. And if I guess right their booster clubs probable raise 3 or 400,000 also.

They had 4 or 5 head coaches that were proven winners interview for the job.

If that is the case then the admin needs to be fired!!!! Enough of these administrators getting a pass for this crap!!!! When will someone stand up and say enough is enough and start holding them accountable for the things they do to coaches!!!! Kids are not going to go into coaching or teaching for that matter when they see this stuff.

I heard of a school a couple of years ago not for sure which one, that fired a guy that had had good seasons and had a bad year and got fired so the super and the prin could hire a friend. And the funny thing was the guy they hired took the job and left in 3 weeks. I think it was out in western ky cause my friend that told me about it is from out that way.
