Woodford County

I thought with Coach Johnson that Woodford would be a lot more competitive this year but it's seems to me they took a major step back. I'm I the only one seeing this or did they get better this year as opposed to last year?

I did not see them this year, but saw them last year against Cooper. There was a pretty good crop of talent last year and I simply thought that the coach did not have the best offense implemented to suit his team. They ran a power I option game last year with some pretty good athletes and a solid O-line for the most part. There biggest problem last year was on the defensive side of the ball. Not to mention, some of their best players played like they did not want to be there at all! There was no emotion or passion when watching them. Just my input on last years team, hopefully someone close to the program this year can weigh in.

I know they have the same win total as last year and like you said it seems some didn't want to be there. They had a massive line with thier 2 guards and center so I figured they would have some type of running game but they didn't. So I hope it just kids buying into what coach Johnson is preaching and weeding out the players that have a me first attitude. Because Dennis is a great person and a good coach, just hope they allow him time to turn it around.

Only one time since 2007 has Woodford County won more than 5 games. They hire a first year head coach to turn a program around......gonna have to give him some time. Maybe someone with experience could have turned it around a little quicker.....but I'm guessing that someone with that experience probably wasn't applying for this job.

Of course as I type this, I am figuring that you guys that have been complaining about Woodford all year are probably sour because Johnson got the job over you or someone you are close to (or liked more than him)......but give the guy some time, which is the same thing you would have wanted.

I'm a supporter of coach Johnson just asking from those around the program was there a difference this year them past with Coach Johnson at the helm. Because at times it seemed like so players didn't want to be out there or were giving max effort. I hope he does well because he's a good young coach.

They didn't have the same win total last years team was 4-7 this year they went 3-8. Like you said the first time they took a step back. They did lose both running backs they had last season and the injury bug hit them hard this year.

So what do they have coming back next year?

Why is everyone so hard on Woodford. This is the first year for Coach Johnson - Rome wasn't built in a year. Winning football games are more than just X's and O's

Didnt they have 3 or 4 kids rated in the top 50-100 in the state preseason?

I find it funny how even with them out of the playoffs they are still being discussed. Some people are just hanging on like the bitter ex wife. Not sure if it's the animosity that the 3 OL generated by getting scholarship offers or they just love to jab at the current coaching staff. Either way let it go. Those lineman are on their way to get a free education and yet grown adults are upset and typing up a storm about it. I salute any kid from KY that can prevent any form of debt , graduate, and compete at a high level of football. I can't stand the crab bucket mentality you people have.

They had 4 or 5 head coaches that were proven winners interview for the job.

Yes but 11 kids are needed to play football. I have coached some very talented kids in my 23 years of coaching. But never have I coached a team that was successful because of 3 kids.

Obviously but my guess is you would love the opportunity to build around 3 highly rated players/linemen

Best analogy I can think of for you guys wondering how do you losing with 3 highly touted lineman is the Dallas Cowboys. They have 3 Pro Bowl OL from 2014 on their current roster and guess what they stink right now! And I haven't heard one person on ESPN say wait a minute they have 3 great lineman so they shouldn't be this bad. No they talk about how injured they are, their lack of playmakers on offense, and how shaky the defense has been. The fact that they haven't won a game since September tells any logical person that it takes more to winning games then having a few great players on an offensive line.

Give Coach Johnson more time to try to build something, it was his first year.....
