Obviously but my guess is you would love the opportunity to build around 3 highly rated players/linemen

Key word you used was BUILD so you have to look at the overall program not just the wins.

Plenty of examples out there of a new coach taking over a program & them being seen as "taking a step back". Nothing against those young men from last year, but they were 4-7 & this year the program was 3-8. This is after an entire coaching staff makeover & I'm sure implementation of a new offense & defense, (I didnt watch them one time, so I cant say for sure).

For one, lets look at 88 Dallas under Tom Landry was 3-13 & they fired him only to be taken over by Jimmy Johnson & went 1-15 the next year. Did they take a step back? In wins, sure, but they built every year after & won the Super Bowl in 1992 if I remember correctly...... (cant stand the Cowboys, btw) Not saying that WC is going to win 5A in the next few years, but dang, give the guy a chance.

Perhaps they should have spent less time whooping it up at lineman challenges and spent the time in a more productive manner like improving footwork and quickness of the ball. The three lineman are/were recruited because they have the one thing that you cannot teach, size. All three have a long way to go if they ever want to see the football field at the collegiate level.

They are some big ole boys, but that didn't translate into much.

Defenses seemed to get around them fairly easily.

I continue to be amazed at the number of folks upset because College Coaches from the D-1 level have offered these guys. Why not be happy for KIDS.

I find it shameful that adults want to tear down kids because "They Think they are not D-1"

How many people on BGP actually recruit for a living? I know College coaches get it wrong sometimes. But they get it right a whole lot more than they get it wrong.

“I know social media has tried to determine if Darrell will be here in 2016. We’re not in this for the short-term. We want to build a plan,” Burke said. “This is something the president and board have joined me in our support for Darrell. We’ve still got work to do, but we can see some things down the pipeline that will allow Purdue to return to a successful level.

“We’re not a patient world. I’m not very patient myself, but at the end of the day, you’re building the right thing. You’ve got to stick with the plan.

“When we hired him in 2013, we recognized this was not going to be an easy undertaking. That’s why we gave him a six-year agreement, because we wanted to provide sufficient time to put this program in good stead,” Burke said. “From a win-loss perspective, nobody is happy right now. But despite the losses and inconsistent play, progress is being made. --Purdue AD Morgan Burke

Sounds like he's talking to you guys.

You have to understand that Woodford County has brought much of the distaste people have upon themselves. The Woodford staff ran around all summer at every 7 on 7 event, scrimmage, game, lineman challenge; and basically started fights, talked trash, told everyone including Highlands just wait til our lineman come back and we will show you....... Not sure if they still do but early in the year the coaches would talk trash, and curse at other teams players, push them off the 50 yard line in pre-game, encourage their kids to talk trash, and hit late. They fought in all of their scrimmages. Its been a circus. So when they get beat, the good folks and the ones who do not start stuff like to call them out.....:thumb:

I personally didn't see any difference in them from last year other then they were both bigger and faster...and they had the same record. In our game vs. them they did not play us as hard as they did the year before, and we were not as good as last year at FCHS. I think the school made their hire they need to give it time to turn around, hopefully the fire and confidence they were trying to show will pay off as they move forward. But last thing they have a right to do is complain about the attention that has been shown to them when a lot of that was brought on by the staff and the people in charge of those kids.

Those lineman are very good and very HUGE, they will all have a chance to play in college lets be happy for them. The kids have done nothing wrong except be good players and receive offers.
