Bowling Green/Highlands 5A Championship Game Updates
punttheball replied to PurpleHaze's topic in KY Football (High School)
Is it halftime yet? -
Relax, there is no mud. CCH needs mix it up more and quit shooting themselves in the foot. CCH is not built to come from behind, esp. against a team like Highlands.

Does anyone know how many people will fit into Highlands stadium? -

You are correct about the time change effecting both teams, but like I said, I was not there, so I would not know how many Highlands fans were there. By the way, just because your team is the visiting team does not mean that you have to sit/stand on the visiting side. If there were open seats on the home side of the field, then your fans could have sat/stood on the home side. You probably would have found that most of the CCH faithful are very nice people. -

I suspect that the CCH faithful will travel well for this game. Didn't they change the regular season game to a 10 AM game at the last minute? Saturday afternoons are tough enough, but the last minute change to Saturday morning made it even tougher. I couldn't make it due to fall baseball and fourth grade volleyball. How many people will fit in the stadium? -

Maybe that is his way of saying that he likes the old system better. LOL -

Nobody is criticizing Highlands either. I think anyone who thinks Highlands hasn't gotten better with each game is a fool. CCH respects Highlands for who they are, the best team in NKY, and probably the best in 5A. The best team does not always win. CCH has made great progress in all areas since the beginning of the season. CCH should feel confident that they can pull off an upset. Not a big surprise about tickets. How many people can Highlands fit into their stadium? On a side note, I am glad to see this game being played at Highlands. I use to love when we played there. IMO there is no better atmosphere in NKY.The closeness of the stands on one side, the school on the other is awesome. The fans are always classy. -
CovCath/Highlands Predictions

I do think that CCH is going to try to establish the running game against Highlands. 50% completion on 200 attempts for 1250 yards for the season may not be earth shattering numbers, but I would not say that CCH is not able to pass the ball consistantly. I do not want to see a bunch of long bombs from CCH, but I would expect to see the passing game used to compliment the running game and keep Highlands defense honest. -
CovCath at Dixie: Predictions

I think the offensive line has improved alot. I am not so sure about the secondary. You are right on when you say controll the ball offensively and keep Dixies offense in check by keeping them off the field. If that does not work, CCH had better hope they do a better job in the secondary than they did the first game. Poor play in the secondary is what cost CCH the game in the regular season. -

BINGO!!! -
The Mud Bowl was not quite the upset that this would be. I do agree that it was an upset.

The interception definetly hurt. I thought the missed field goal for the tie hurt also. I did not like the play call on the int. No reason to go for it all on second and two. Should have stuck to the game plan, runs and short passes and screens. Those two plays were the beginning of the end. -

Has been a concern all year. To beat Dixie, they must stop the long pass. Give up some shorties, but stop the long ball. The rest of the defense is playing great. -
That is what good and confident teams can do.

Lets hope so!!!

Dixie is beating Campbell 31-13 at half.

Ohio Playoff Games at Paul Brown Stadium
punttheball replied to All Play No Work's topic in KY Football (High School)
Finally some good football at Paul Brown Stadium. -
Anyone going to this game should get there early. Beechwood has a very nice stadium, but it is not big. Beechwood and New Cath have large fan bases. This is the best game in NKY this weekend, so expect this one to fill up fast.

Definetly, coach Ray developed kids into football players and more importantly respectful and disciplined young men. -

When the seniors were freshman coach Ray was the varsity head coach. The varsity head coach is the absolute head of the entire football program. While coach Ray did not attend freshman practices, I am sure that his "systems" were in place. I am sure that he attended every freshman game that he could. So while they never technically played FOR coach Ray, his program was in place. They were being developed to play for coach Rays CCH program. That is want I meant, but did think I had to explain. -

Just their poor record. Not that one win will make that much difference, but these guys have worked their tails off and listened to some critisism along the way. The seniors have played under three different head coaches, all with different styles. That is not what you expect when you play for CCH. So I just want this win for the players sake, and maybe one or more in the playoffs. That would be five or more wins this season. That is more than most people thought they would get given their schedule, graduation and new coaching staff. -

Given the current situation with CCH, now would be an excellent time.
