  1. He would not be a fullback on many teams. He is very fast. As in very, very fast.
  2. Ryle has a very, very solid defense and Elliott's injury won't change that. A good defense can take you far, so even if he is out for an extended period, I think Ryle can win this district. But they will need to progress on the offensive side, paritcularly passing the ball.
  3. Fun place to watch a football game. Nice stadium. Bigger and more intimidating than when I got to play in it 30 years ago (wow). Their split-the-pots are unreal. The winner can take home $5000-6000. And they do some serious tailgating before the game. Like bigtime college football-level tailgating.
  4. Mac Vollett. Heart of the Ryle defense. Hits hard, very good tackler.
  5. Assuming he didn't tear any of the ligaments that hold the kneecap in place. Son had this injury and it's a tough one, too. Not an ACL injury by any means, but no walk in the park either.
  6. Didn't see much of the 4th quarter, but up to that point I couldn't imagine they had 100 net yards.
  7. The Raiders were beaten soundly, but this was certainly not a "beatdown." The defense performed fairly well, given they were on the field quite a bit and also forced to defend a short field several times. They did give up some big running plays and you could really see the speed difference when Colerain got to the outside, but all in all, it was not a bad performance. Nice interception by Ryle's DB Kennedy early on. Unfortunately, Ryle's offense got nothing going whatsoever. Granted they were facing a darn good defense, but the passing game needs work. No downfield passing - all swing, bubble, and very short route passes and even very few of those were completed. Ultimately, though, Ryle acquitted themselves fairly well and certainly much better than alot of people were predicting.
  8. :ohbrother:Kind of forgot those two.
  9. Mistake to have the restroom, concessions, and entrance/exit all at the same location. It just gets too darn crowded in that area. Are Ryle and Holmes are the only two fields in NKY in which you walk in from the top and the field sits down in a bowl? Gives it a nice "stadium" feel. Ryle's field looks awesome when you fly over it.
  10. I can tell you this, whether you agree or disagree with Coach Warner's "miss practices and you sit rule" - he has had it throughout the program and has applied it consistently and fairly. It does not matter to him whether it affects an average player or the star of the team. Personally, I don't particularly like the rule (it affected my son once ), but I totally respect the manner in which he enforces it.
  11. I guess a rule is a rule, but it certainly is a shame. And I do know for a fact that Ryle has applied this rule in the past to other top players on the team, so they are being consistent if this is the reason.
  12. What are some reasons that Dixie would be so consistently bad year in and year out on the defensive side of the ball? I am guessing they've given up an average of close to 30 points a game over the past few years minimum. Surely they have enough athletes to be more effective defensively than what they show.
  13. Guru called for a 65-21 score. Not a bad effort, however, he did not make clear who he thought was going to win, so he gets no credit whatsoever.
  14. Well that seems fairly definitive. So if they are down a couple scores after first quarter, does he stay out all game?
  15. Is this a guess or based on one of your "inside sources"?
  16. Not quite the blowout that some were predicting for Boone.
  17. He developed talent at half-time? Must have been one heckuva halftime speech by the coach . . .
  18. Their first game. Guessing the coaches are still figuring out what they've got, who should be where, how often certain people should get the ball, which plays work/which don't etc.... No doubt Ryle played much, much better in the second half when #38 got a lot of touches.
  19. Wow, he must tear up that league.
  20. I didn't think either looked particularly good, but again it was their first or second game and I'm sure the coaches are still trying to get kids in the right spots and figure out which plays work best. I just thought that #16 had a stronger arm and threw a nicer ball overall. Not that #3 looked terrible or anything. Both QB's also got a lot of pressure and tough to throw accurately under those conditions.
  21. Last week #7 and #16 (I think) rotated quarters. Were neither of these the regular QB? I thought #16 threw the ball fairly well.
  22. I've only seen the one game and it wasn't anything overly impressive, but it's early and it looked like they were still trying to decide on a QB (rotated two of them).
  23. Looks like a fairly decent-sized kid, too.
  24. As Ryle's game progressed last week, they gave the ball more and more frequently to #38 (Colin England) and he did a terrific job with his opportunities. I would guess he's in line for a bunch more touches this week. Tough kid to bring down and good speed.
