Of the three UK students I know that have tested positive (assuming that Ct < 35) - all three retested as non-positive (multiple follow-ups) and in one case the follow-up was with the UK recommended testing agency. But UK would not remove the initial positive because the paperwork from their selected provider was missing one of three required "identifiers". And the contact tracing subcontractor - what a mess that is. Calls from personal cell phones, no voicemail, then a threat as a voicemail. They reach out two weeks after the finding - to a spouse. It would be comical if it were not impacting very important parts of peoples lives at this critical stage of life.

This is whole issue with the Red/Orange, etc. process. Its completely mathematically invalid. They act like testing results are based on some scientific perfectly modeled sampling the represents the demographics of the county in absolute real time. When this completely not what the testing represents. One person getting tested 3 days in row can generate 3 "cases". In a small county this type of measurement method can skew things.

In terms of the young people impact - A positive test may still qualify as "not affected" if the person is asymptomatic and has no ill effects. It would be interesting to get a metric of the positives as to how many were asymptomatic and never developed an illness. They may have been exposed, fought it off and never would have known about it without a mandatory test in those cases. The college tests provide a good "snapshot" since the test covers 100% of the potential sample population. At best, the current statewide numbers are grabbing about 1% of the potential sample population each week. Also we know the criteria for the college tests - its mandatory. The criteria for test in the state-wide numbers is unknown. Even age break out of the tests is unknown or not published. Very nebulous specific on the thing that actually drives the numbers - tests.

Actually the positive rate of the tests - that may map multiple tests over a period of time to the same person. Also, its unknown how the population of tests are generated. But I bet most people assume this "positivity rate" is just the percent of PEOPLE positive in an area since they assume "cases' == "people". This was clearly heard last night during the JCPS board meeting. These university test results, where the criteria for testing is known, are giving a much clearer view of the real world. Its hard to say what picture the state-wide "cases" and "PR" number mean at all without understanding the details of the underlying tests criteria.

They know what a 'No' tonight means. So they will kick the can down the road and work on 'kill points" as they say in the project world. They want specific "kill points" to make the shutdowns happen. They will not make arbitrary vote to not go now.

Risk of COVID fatality to those under 30 in Kentucky - 0.0%. What has more risk of death than COVID to those under 30 in Kentucky based current statistics - everything. Suicide attempts have skyrocketed. As have overdoses. COVID is not a concern of the young at this point when compared to suicide and drugs and abuse.

"Thing will get worse when people go inside." No kidding. The number one indicator of mortality rate of COVID is Vitamin-D deficiency. No sun - no vitamin-D without supplements. Point is - without sports kids will NOT be outside and will suffer vitamin-D deficiency and will be more susceptible. So you may be create the situation with the vote tonight.

Before threatening the kids, coaches and parents about not following the protocol....how about set the protocol first. What did they do over the summer? It seems they never expected to be in this situation.

Three "no"s locked in - Pollio, Kolb, Shull. Two join, and its done. The easy decision is to cancel. Though it will be damning to many kids - The logistics in Jefferson are going to make this unworkable at some point. These people see a no win situation in front of them. One path will keep them in meetings three times a week. The other decision will give them some of their life back without facing the second guessing every day. I am not blaming them for whatever decision is made. This IS a new win situation from where they sit. I just really hate that kids in sports and other extracurricular will be cancelled when kids really need these things right now.

Jefferson County does NOT have a 10% positivity rate among actual people Ms. Duncan. The statistics are not related to people. They are related to tests, that we do not know the demographics of. So far it looks like the state has less than a 1% positive rate from looking at UK and UofL numbers.

It looks like some other people are probably getting a 101 as well. At least he is probing and asking. It is interesting that they would not know the basics of how games are contracted between schools.
