Actually Sir, Cumberland was never up 35 points!!! It was 28-7 at the half, 35-7 early in the 4th, 35-14 then with about 8 minutes left it got to 41-14 and Cumberland did start subbing at that point, while Harlan was trying, with their starters to get as much as they could out of the game, so I dont think you have anything to complain about. As for Mr Donahue, I do agree with you on that, he is a class act and a fine fellow and I would guess all of the Tri-City area would feel the same way about him as I do. I also agree with about the penalties, if they dont play more organized and a little more sharp on both sides of the ball they will have problems with more talented teams

Hard to believe!!! I thought Evarts was supposed to be able to play a little bit. How could this game be 5 touchdowns plus difference at the half?????

Yes, he will be a very nice power back to go with the speed to make one heck of a backfield. The Blackbears will could be very difficult to deal with if the new staff does a good job building chemistry with these guys. I think these kids will love playing together, and as for that group of backs there wil not be a better group of backs anywhere around. Belfry will have their hands full with this bunch next year IMO

Thanks for that info. They have just got a great thing going right now and sounds like they will be strong again next year. Dustin May will be a huge loss, he is such a tremendous impact player on both sides of the ball. I know they have a great team around him, but without him they will become a more beatable team. He is comparable to the Slusher kid from Bell County last year, but even a better high school player because he is such a dominant weapon offensively. Bell got very little out of Slusher on the offensive side of the ball.

How many seniors does Belfry have?? Also, is the fullback (Day) a senior?

It appears as though the new school will get a very good coaching staff and along with some excellent talent from the 3 schools should put a strong team on the field next year. Both of the speedy backs (Gilliam and Simmons) from Cumberland will be back next year and will give Harlan County probably the best tandem of running backs in the mountains. I know that is saying a lot, but it will be hard to find a school with 2 backs with that kind of speed on the same team. Wow, that new coach is gonna love those guys and could build a pretty nice team around them.

Cumberland will probably take care of business in solid fashion, but if I know J.B. Donahue any at all, he will do everything he possibly can to have his guys ready to play and will make sure they play their hearts out in this one. J.B has always had a tough time with Cumberland even when the Dragons had the better team. I wouldn't be surprised to see Harlan reverse that trend and play the Skins a little closer than most might think!!!!! Having said that however, Cumberland's speed is very difficult to deal with so I am guessing like 34-14 Skins

They are still good, but I dont think I would go as far as to say they would still be loaded without Mackey. I am however not saying Mackey is guilty and that he will not play this year, just that they would drop off quite a bit if he is not there.

Belfry is awesome, no question about it. The one guy that mentioned Corbin being the best team they will play all year is correct until maybe deep into the playoffs. Corbin is becoming a steamroller also, they wore out a solid single A team tonight also. Good job Belfry and Corbin

Holcomb has done a great job at Breathitt, as Dudley did before him, WOW isnt that amazing what great coaches you guys have had over there (two of the best all time in the mountains and in Kentucky) and if we could get either one of them over here it would be great. I think the thing about guys like Hilton and Holcomb is that they might possibly be interested in a new challenge, especially Holcomb. Dudley has already proven he can go somewhere else and win a State championship (Bourbon County) maybe it is Holcomb's turn to do the same at (Harlan county)

That is an awful lot of teams to have ranked ahead of PRP, but I didnt see PRP this past summer. Mason County might be the 2nd best team and maybe the best. As for Bryan station being rated that high, I thougt they lost a lot of good players last year, about 3 or 4 starters and I think that is a little high to have Hazard and South Laurel. Overall a pretty good list though, just a couple observations I had

I think Scott county was one of the best teams I have seen in the last 25 years in Kentucky and Billy Hicks is one of the best coaches in Kentucky in the last 25 years. Hats off to last years Cardinals. As for this years Cardinals, they will still be very very good but I believe the loss of a 6'4" pure stud hoss point guard will be a big loss for them and with the in state competition overall improved over last year they will be more beatable this year and I think it will be very hard for them to repeat as State Champs. Having said that, if any coach in Kentucky could do it Billy Hicks is the man that could get it done.

My heart goes out to the Neal family and the entire Pineville community in your loss.

Williamsburg has good football tradition and seems to be pretty well coached year in year out, I believe they will bounce back and finish the year in solid fashion and I hope they do. Sounds like they are pretty young and have a good future ahead of them the next couple years. I think Cumberland has a shot at their district title, they have Hazard at home and I think Evarts at home also. I have said all along that they have a lot of good athletes and if they can get the right mix of players playing solid defense and their line does a good job blocking for those two very talented backs they have they could be dangerous come playoff time.

Dont be surprised if Mr Mike Holcomb from Breathitt County is named the new head coach and either Tuck Woolum or his brother that coaches in Florida or possibly even both Woolums be named assistants, and IMO that would make for a pretty solid coaching staff with a lot of succesfull football history coming to Harlan County.

You obviously do not get THE OBVIOUS POINT and that is that most quality coaches with class, when interviewed about a game after a defeat usually make it a point to give some credit to the opposing team. If you do not understand this then that is very unfortunate. Have a good day sir.

I didnt view it as an insult, I guess I am just a little bit Old School and believe that in defeat coaches can show a little class by giving the opposing team a little credit for their efforts.

I am sure he was disapointed with what happened in the game, but there is no excuse for not showing a little respect for Cumberland's kids by giving them a little credit for the way they played.

Great Job Knox Central!!!! From what I have seen and heard so far this year the Panthers have played very solid and have been on the verge of a big win for their program and now they have one. Keep up the good work and maybe get yourselves a playoff victory or two.

Hazard does appear to be pretty good, but I wouldnt pencil them in as the #1 seed in that District yet. Cumberland has an experienced and pretty athletic offensive line and two tremendous young backs and I believe that if the coaches can get the right mix of players playing together defensively to go along with all of the offensive talent they have they could knock Hazard off in Cumberland in a couple weeks.

I just read about the game on the Harlan Daily website, Cumberland had 521 yards rushing with Simmons and Giliam combining for 380 of those yards. I also read the comments of the Williamsburg coach and I must say say they were very disappointing to me, he only spoke of what his team didnt do and how poorly they played and didnt give one bit of credit to The Redskins. Great job Skins!! You guys had a lot to do with why Williamsburg played poorly and deserve a lot of credit for being able to go on the road and run the ball up and down the field like that.

Cumberland has a lot of good football players and a lot of speed and this win on the road against a team that is supposed to be pretty decent should be a big confidence booster. #24 Lance Simmons is one heck of a footbal player with speed and tremendous quickness, along with #42 Nathaniel Gilliam gives Cumberland maybe the best young tandem of running backs in the mountains. It sounded like from the main highlights that Simmons had a great game. Can anyone tell me what kind of game Gilliam had?

I would bet that 'IF' any of Dudley's players got out of line and he found out about it, he did something about it. I would also bet that Dudley has taken his medicine 8 of the last 12 times these two teams have played with total class and respect for Rockcastle's coaches and players, because he is a class act and teaches his players class and respect.
