Different coaches, different styles and approaches. Luckily there were no injuries and things never got out of hand. It is good to see both programs elevated to the level they are currently playing. I'm sure both teams earned the respect of the other this season.

Part of the job of the coach is to protect his players. If he was seeing rough play or intentional dirty play against his players that the center was not seeing, he has an obligation to bring that to the attention of the center. If the rough play still goes unchecked, he is right to become more vocal in order to protect his players.

Quite a run by NDA despite the season ending injuries to several players. Imagine if this team was at full strength all year!

You also have to consider where the NDA player, closest to the camera, was when the pass was made. Was she further left or further to the right? If to the left, then the play was properly called off side. Is there video posted somewhere?

I heard the ejection came pretty late, under 10 minutes left.

Can someone who saw the game give some details? How was the goal scored? Any blatant missed calls? Number of penalties, cards, corners?

Team players are invaluable. The players who care enough about the team to do whatever it takes to make the team better are a coach's dream. These are the players who should be rewarded and recognized. I miss the days where everyone did not get a participation trophy.

So where does this leave both teams come the first round of playoffs?

43-0 Birds. 2nd quarter

Ryle came into the game at 6-0. The Birds scored the first 14, both touchdowns in the first half. Ryle had a few nice plays but never got any 1st half momentum. In the 2nd half, the Raiders scored early in the 4th quarter after the teams both sputtered on offense through the 3rd qtr. The try for a 2 point conversion was stopped well short. On the ensuing kickoff, the ball sailed over the deep man's head and was touched down at the Highlands 4 yard line. The Birds managed to get out of the hole, but had to punt it away. On the Raiders final drive, the Birds defense bent, but refused to break. Both teams had to contest nasty spitting weather in the 4th. Ryle was heading into a steady wind making the passing game very tough on the final drive. The Frosh Birds have some serious talent and several of them will have a varsity impact, NEXT YEAR.

A very good game by the Birds defense. They had their hands full with #34 , who had a very good game.

No doubt. But that is the only first hand information I have. Based on what I saw, Ryle is a tough matchup for SK.

I saw huge issues with the SK defense against Highlands. This is what I am basing my statement on. Cooper and Conner do not factor into my observations.

Having seen both just once this year. IMO Ryle has a much better defense and will win this game by 3 scores.

I just can't wrap my head around the theory that something must be out there just because the universe is so vast. I would agree that there could be some other habitable place out there in the vastness, but I am not a believer that there must be.

A hard count in that situation is pretty standard. Not sure I would call it a questionable call. The players know their role. Mistakes happen.

Tough way for a game to end.

No need to be afraid to say that your son is a Bluebird defender. Everyone knows that these kids are working their butts off and trying to make every play possible. There is no shame in losing football games. It happens. Many HHS posters are just not used to it and have a hard time accepting it. HHS fans have been spoiled by success and many expect it should continue uninterrupted. The reality is, nothing lasts forever. There have been down periods in the past and when this one ends, there will be more in the future. No program stays on top forever and this football program is not about one or two years, it is about the history, the present and the future of Bluebird Football. Your son and all the other players on this team are part of one of the most respected football programs in the State and in the Nation. They and you should be very proud of that. Go Birds!
