  1. Breathitt started the game with the line-up like this: Fugate, Hayes, Noble, Hollan, and Smith. In the 4th quarter the line-up was like this: Fugate, Hollan, Richie, R. Allen, D. Allen. Half way through the 4th Steve put in everyone else. Don't have all the names but i know everyone got to play in the 4th. Going into the final frame Breathitt was ahead 82-41 I believe. Breathitt hit every shot it through up. Now you can chose either side and make a good point, but Breathitt just played their kids. They didn't intend on running up the score, everyone played. Is it Breathitt's fault that they couldn't miss, no. Is it Breathitts fault that even the J.V was hitting shots, no. So the opinion of running up the score is done, Breathitt is a classy program and its always getting the short end of the stick. We put this thread on here to congradulate a team for putting up 112 points. Not to beat them down for something they couldn't help. By the way Breathitt plays JBS in a few days so maybe we will see what team we have. Hopefully putting up a great game will husht he cridicts.
  2. Breathitt pulled away from Menifee County in the middle of the first quarter and never looked back. I'm not sure what the final score was but I know that Breathitt scored 112 points. I believe Menifee scored 58 im nor sure on that though. At the begining of the season Breathitt beat Menifee by 4 points. Big change in between then and now. 112 points in a high school basketball game is pretty impressive, especially with no overtime. Congrads bobcats and keep this ball rolling. :walk:
  3. The coach said that Tackett is fighting for a starting spot at linebacker, and should see some playing time even if he doesn't start. The same is for Allen. They want to play Allen at center(he's never snapped a ball) The back up center is failing most of his classes and probably won't be eligible. He also said that he could end up starting as a true freshman as well, just depends if he learns the playbook quick enough. The same goes for him though, he will also get some playing time regardless.
  4. Yes they give full-rides. What they have done for tackett of johnson central, and allen of breathitt is: fill out of the financial aid papers, see what grants and other scholarships they could get, then see how much they would owe and pay for it like that. I believe allen knocked his down to $3,500 then Pikeville told him they would pay for the rest of it. I assume they did the samething for Tackett. I know that Pikeville was planning on giving money to just a few boys, all from eastern kentucky. The rest are walk-ons from what I know. With the boys getting money and the ones walking on, Pikeville is going to have a pretty good recruiting class.
  5. I heard from the Coaches mouth at Pikeville today, that both Howard and Hubbard have both verbally comitted to Pikeville. The Johnson Central boys have also said they are coming to Pikeville. The head coach made a visit today to Breathitt County to talk to Casey Allen. Aaron Mullins is also thinking about going to Pikeville or atleast thats what the Coach said.
  6. The biggest change was the Coach. The boys respond better to Coach Banks. He demands respect and the team has responded. They will be a force for the next few years I would say. They only have 2 seniors. Only one of them gets alot of playing time.
  7. Brother of mine who is coaching next year at pikeville college said the 2 linebackers have verbally commited to pikeville, Pikeville is making trips to Jackson, and Johnson Central tomorrow to visit Allen, Tackett, & Johnson. From what I understand Leslie County's Howard and Hubabrd maybe going to Pikeville College as well. Now don't hold me to that, but thats what I'm being fed from Pikeville. I will have more info tomorrow.
  8. Coaching has a lot to do with it. Breathitt didn't condition last year or even under Coach Hall. The playing style of Coach Banks is a good fit for the program. He believes in playing defense first. Thet trickles down the bench. He has a boy in Ryan Allen that could start on alot of the teams in the region coming off the bench. He is a spark to the team. Ryan Allen plays great defense, and i believe he held Hicks to 0 points in the 3rd quarter one night. Nick Noble and Channing Fugate both can play big on defense. The hot shot of Justin Hollan, and the low post presents of Travis Smith plays big for the cats, not to mention these boys have played together throughout their lives. The schedule they have played is weak but they have beaten some pretty good teams too. I honestly believe if Breathitt plans on taking region they need to stick together as a team, keep listening to Coach Banks, and Playing both ends of the court. I'm taking Breathitt to win region by 1 point in the championship game. Mainly because of a boy no one is talking about, senior Brandon Hayes.
  9. One of my good friends, way to go Nicole. Rock it out in Alice Lloyd. I for one will come watch you. We all here at Breathitt are so proud of you, keep working hard.
  10. I will take Breathitt by 2 and pull the upset. JBS may have the better athletes, but i believe Breathitt has the better team. Breathitt is a little to deep. They play as hard as they can in this one and squeak by with a close "W".
  11. Do you know which one is going to pikeville?
  12. From what I understand Pikeville is giving Casey Allen a full-ride. Casey said he was going to take it. I know that Pikeville is very interested in the 2 linebackers for Johnson Central....does anyone know if they are going for sure yet?
  13. Channing Fugate can dunk the ball right now, I've seen him do it, he doesn't like to show off infront of everybody he's not one that hogs the spotlight, and will not dunk the ball in warm-ups. He respects everybody but fears no one. I honestly believe he will make a huge impact on the region and state in the near future. He is the real deal.
  14. The kid is awesome, and i would take that bet. He would be in the rotation on a varsity squad. Believe me this kid has the work ethic to play any position on the court....let alone the football field. He is good hearted and is a great kid/athlete. I think people's opinions will change in the next few years. He isn't the only good freshman on this bobcat team.......Dakota Richy is also showing up to be a real force......The bench has got Breathitt to where they are now.
  15. Travis Smith didn't put up the numbers he usually does, i would say thats a good thing.... gave someone else a chance to stand up and carry the team. Brandon Hayes played like a senior tonight. Very good game by him. All in all a learning experience and good to see that Breathitt can win other ways than by the big man.
  16. Channing has told me that football is his #1 sport. He is a very exciting basketball player as well. If he goes d-1 in any sport its most def football. Give this kid 3 years in Coach Holcombs football system working the Halfback and H-back. I'm telling you with this kid, the skys the limit.
  17. I give Clay County alot of Credit they could shoot the ball, but ya know anything can happen on any given night. They are one of the better teams I have seen.....good win.
  18. They will have a freshman next year Jared Wolf who benches 280 right now. He want to play line, and in a questionair he filled out he said Casey Allen was the guy he looked up to. Supposively he wants to play gaurd. He could see alot of playing time next year. This team is stacked at every position but the o-line. I think Channing Fugate will have very little trouble filling the shoes of Beckam Herald. These guys are working extremely hard already and will have a really good shot to win it all next year. If they ain't ranked in #1 in 3a at some point next year i will be very shocked.
  19. If I'm not mistaking didn't Breathitt beat Hazard without Aaron Combs? I believe Breathitt is one of the deepest teams if not the deepest team in the 14th region. Beating Wolfe County isn't a big achievement but a 14-1 record is. Steve Banks has turned this program around. He has these boys playing great defense, big key when you have a kid like Justin Hollan shooting the ball as well as he is. They are going to be tough to beat come region. Travis Smith is als0 making himself the best big man in the region. So far no one has stopped him. The thing is with this team you can't double team Smith when you have shooters like Hollan, Fugate, Allen, & Hayes.
  20. Channing in my opinion didn't get enough carries. He is a qucik explosive back that can bust 20-30 yards a run, and you have Chris Jackson who can power run between tackles.....I highly doubt a defense will be able to stop both of these kids all game. Remember the numbers 4 and 28......they will be on the tv alot.
  21. Breathitt has a team, what i mean by team is.......They play as one. Not only do they have the chemistry, but they have all the weapons in place to have a "VERY" exciting season. I would say that the main thing they need to work on is the offensive line. They only have 2 coming back, but Coach Holcomb usually puts together a pretty good offensive line. Secondly, they need to work with the CB position. Everyone is coming back at that position, and i believe Coach John-Paul Chapman will have those boys fine tuned for a state championship run. I really believe that CB position right now and the offensive line is the weakest postions on a very strong team coming back.
  22. Breathitt Ladycats went to Florida to play in a big tourny, then turned around and played in the holiday hoop fest here at Breathitt. So you can't really say being tired is the reason they got beat. Breathitt's girls played the second half without their best player, and have played alot of games in a roll as well. I guess we could make point after point on who will win the region, but in the end i believe the team who plays together will win it. I took from this game that right now as a team Breathitt is closer. I would give the edge to the Ladycats right now, but there is still along way to go.
  23. Casey was given a 5.1 40 yard dash at the Eastern Kentucky Combine last summer. Pretty good concidering he is 6'0 300 pounds. He ran that on a bumb knee too. Right now I believe he is the healthiest he has been since he went down witht he knee his junior year. I wish him the best.
  24. Casey Allen/Breathitt COunty.......At begining of season wasn't ranked in the top 10 in his region, ended up making 1st team all-state defense, and was the only player from his region to make 1st, 2nd, or 3rd team....I believe. He will succeed at the next level because he is going into a program that his older brother already knows. (his brother is going to be a coach at Pikeville College). Casey is attending Pikeville College on a full-ride scholarship, and I believe he will get the publicity there because of his hard work, and dedication to the sport.
  25. Can anyone give me the link to the Small school's All EKY team.
