  1. Should be our best team since 2008-2009. Return everyone from last year's 10-16 team. Had a solid summer, and won the team camp title at Transylvania. Great group of kids that are coachable and fun to work with!!
  2. Saw them play in St. X Shootout. Solid team. They really get after you defensively. Very quick and athletic!!!
  3. What did you "search" on YouTube??
  4. Great Coach! I don't agree with the way he built the program, but what he has done at J'town has been unbelieveable! With the way he recruited he is not well-liked by other coaches. By the way he acted on the sideline he is not well-liked by officials. And I personally did not like the way he treated his players...there is a fine line between demanding and degrading and I saw him cross it several times! I am sure he cared for his players, most coaches do, but when you are the adult you should act like one. Bottom line- as a coach you always should be a positive role model!! I agree with the last post, he will have a hard time finding a job in Jefferson County - nobody wants to deal with that.. it's not worth it!! It is only high school basketball!!!
  5. Here is a list of some of the top players in the new 6th region next year: Derek Willis Bullitt East Desmond Dorsey J'town Mekale McKay Moore Jalen Wesson Butler Max Clemons PRP Stephon Bryant Doss Daniel Ross J'town Brandon Brooks DeSales Daquan Boyd Moore Caleb Craddock Bullitt Central Rusty Troutman Bullitt East O'Brien Hobbs Fern Creek Cortez Macklin PRP Trey Rakes Bullitt East Brandon Goeing North Bullitt Michael Parrish Fern Creek Justin Newby Fern Creek Demetrius McReynolds Butler
  6. Larry Miller was named the new coach at Male. That leaves the Moore coaching job open.
  7. Opening Round Clark County Eastern Christian County Lexington Catholic Daviess County Wayne County Bullitt East Marshall County Round 2 Eastern Lexington Catholic Wayne County Bullitt East Round 3 Eastern Bullitt East Champion Eastern tiebreaker: 118 points
  8. I saw them play this summer and they really impressed me. They don't have a lot of size, but the players they have inside are very physical. Good guard play- if they are making shots they could be dangerous. Play together and have a high basketball IQ. I would be surprised if they don't contend for the regional title (if they can get out of their tough district!).
  9. Coach Longacre always does a great job! I know they have a lot of young kids, but I bet by the end of the year they are right there with a chance to win the region.
  10. Coach Edelen will/has poured his heart and soul into whatever program he is associated with. I have known him since he coached at Waggener. He did a great job there, and was doing a great job at NO. He consistently gets the most out of his players. He is very demanding- but show me a successful basketball coach that isn't!! He loved NO and I have no doubt that he was turning them into a consistent regional contender!! Good luck trying to find a coach- who wants to go into a situation where you don't know year to year if you are going to have a job!! Good luck Coach!!!
  11. I say North wins this one, but loses the rematch in the District Final!!! Coach Edelen has them playing way over their heads tonight at home- and the Mustangs knock off South Oldham. But when they meet in the District finals South Oldham's senior-laden team is too much and they shoot(because they can shoot) their way to the District title and possibly a Regional final against Shelby County!!!
  12. First round: Glasgow, Walton-Verona, Newport, Hazard, Lex Christian, Owensboro Catholic, Shelby Valley, Danville 2nd round: Glasgow, Newport, Lex Christian, Shelby Valley Semis: Glasgow, Shelby Valley Final: Shelby Valley tiebreaker: 120
  13. Both teams are solid- but Ballard's pressure will hurt Fern Creek. If Fern Creek has a weakness it is in the guard play!! Ballard by 15-20!!
  14. I saw them play this summer and they looked good. They have a nice young group- no seniors this year. They were a little down last year but I think they will have a solid year this year and an outstanding year in '10-'11!! Coach Barmore does a nice job!!
  15. Different coaches have different styles - and usually the team with the best players who execute their style - WIN!! Some coaches taylor their style to their players while some coaches have one style of play and do that year in and year out. What is best?? That's why you play the games!!!
  16. He went to Murray State's elite camp this summer. Has had interest from Bellarmine and Missouri-St. Louis.
  17. Don't underestimate Coach Klein!! He is an outstanding young coach. I coached against him when he was at Waggener and I always left very impressed by the job he did. He might not have the talent that some of the other teams have but I think they will upset a couple of those top teams. They definitely will be competitive with even the best teams in the 7th.
  18. Southern has 2 seniors - Larry Martin and Chris Richard - to build around. Chris Richard will become Southern's all time leading scorer and rebounder this year!!! He currently has 1220 points and 891 rebounds. The rest of the varsity team will be made up of sophomores!
  19. I have to agree. It's funny how Male and Manual, the flagship schools for Jefferson County, get changed into a region that they can now win (at least in boy's basketball). When, as stated in another post, they have not won the regional since 2001 (too much Ballard, Eastern, and J'town)!!!
  20. It doesn't deplete the 7th region. They still have the big 3: Ballard, J'town, and Eastern. Followed by Trinity, Seneca, and Fern Creek. All solid basketball programs. It does make the 6th region tougher!! And it definitely helps Male and Manual. They can't beat Ballard, Eastern, or J'town--so lets just move them to the 6th Region. How can teams so close like Bullitt Central, North Bullitt, Southern, and Fairdale not be in the same region???
  21. Does anybody have any comments on the new alignment that is proposed for the 6th and 7th regions?? For the boy's Male, Manual, and St. X will move to the 6th, and Bullitt Central, Bullitt East, North Bullitt, and Southern will move to the 7th. This will go into effect next year for basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball.
  22. There is a difference between college potential and a good high school player!! There are a lot of great high school players who because of size or quickness do not pan out as college prospects. Are these the top 20 high school players, or are they the top 20 college prospects??
  23. I think you have to give a lot of credit to Coach Edelen. He came into a situation at North Oldham where there was a lot of coaching turnover. He stabilized the program and has started building them into a consistent winner!! When or will they break through?? No one knows, but he definitely has Mustang Nation Rollin'!!!
  24. PRP again will be right in the mix to win the 6th region title. They are very well coached and have a great system in place- not to mention they have some talent!! I think PRP, Iroquois, Central, and Fairdale are the 4 major contenders.
