Oldham County Civil War - North vs. South

 

North Oldham boys vs. South Oldham boys in Goshen this Tuesday (2/2/10).

 

South wins the district #1 seed with a victory and goes 3-0 in district play. Dragons coming off an impressive victory over Anderson County in which they outscored the Bearcats, 40-19, in the second half. The Dragons continue to shoot the ball well from the floor, and having a million shooters, it seems, who can shoot the rock.

 

North is 1-0 in district play and can claim the #1 seed with a victory over South. (even if North were to be upset by Trimble County in their final seeding game, the Mustangs would still win the #1 seed over South via head-to-head competition) North has struggled against a brutal schedule this season, but has picked up a couple of solid wins of late, including a victory over a good Fairdale team and a win over Henry County. Devon Rowan is establishing himself as perhaps the best post player in the region, despite being a sophomore, and Alex Foley is headed towards claiming the career scoring mark at North.

 

Winner gets Trimble County in the first round of the district tournament; the loser gets Oldham County, as Oldham and Trimble have already clinched the #3 and #4 seeds, respectively.

I say North wins this one, but loses the rematch in the District Final!!! Coach Edelen has them playing way over their heads tonight at home- and the Mustangs knock off South Oldham. But when they meet in the District finals South Oldham's senior-laden team is too much and they shoot(because they can shoot) their way to the District title and possibly a Regional final against Shelby County!!!

South leads the alltime series, 6-5, and won the last meeting, 71-68, in last year's 29th district final at Oldham County...they did so despite losing leading scorer and leading rebounder Drew Kraemer in the district semis vs. Oldham...

 

SOHS' Casey Jackson shot 65% vs. North in two meetings last year and averaged 19.5 ppg... He's averaging around 16 ppg this year.

 

Devon Rowan averages nearly 17 ppg and 12 rebounds for North...Alex Foley averages 20 ppg...

 

This will be the first game ever between these two schools on North's brand-new gym floor. The district will be held on this floor in February.
