Email a few and ask. It's common knowledge in JCPS. They mow, stock concessions, order equipment, build schedules (if they don't like or trust the coach..lol), day to day activities associated with being an AD. JCPS won't have to answer to the state if they stay in the black, they will continue to pay ridiculous salaries. Have several really good friends who are JCPS AD's, one was at Shawnee and transferred to be the AD at Seneca because he was bored at Shawnee due to lack of sports. FULL-TIME my friend, you can take that to the bank!

I didn't dispute his salary. The average AD in JCPS is making over 80K...but he would be nuts from a financial standpoint if he plans to stay in public education, to give up a JCPS AD job. I can assure you, it will be long time before he would get another look, they aren't fond of those who leave the district and come back. However, if he still has a passion for coaching, I certainly hope he finds a spot. He's a good ball coach.

Mark probably has very few years in public schools, if any, prior to Iroquois. There are SPED teachers on this list making over 80K. AD's are considered "teachers" but they do not teach, not one single class. The expectation is they handle ALL aspects of athletics for their school. It's been this way for a quite some time. You can see every single JCPS employee on the list...amazing how well they reward years of service with pay!

In JCPS AD's do not teach...anything. Asst. AD's teach. Good friend of mine is the AD at a south end school in Jefferson Co. and has 8 years til he hits 27 years. He makes over 93,000. In JCPS it's a near 6K job depending on your years. I know an AD that is making over 100K in JCPS...they released the audit a year or two ago. It pays close to and above 6 figs!

Verbal commit by either party isn't worth much. If you haven't signed the dotted line then don't cross anyone off of your list...ever. Hard lesson for anyone but the reality of the coaching carousel in college football today.

Who would he lead his player to then? I am sure at some point nearly all schools have pulled an offer. This is part of the game. If he had other offers then he needs to contact one of those schools, otherwise he can do as nearly ALL kickers do. Walk on and earn a scholarship the next year. The new APU coach probably saw a need and used that scholarship on a player who might play more than 3-5 snaps a game...or a player that could help them only need a punter 3-5 snaps a game. Lol.

I think Bell is a tough row to hoe right now. Many will want to live in the glory days without admitting it's just not what it used to be in so many aspects in the community, school, climate, culture..etc. I don't care who they hire, it's going to be tough to meet the expectations of many living in the past. Just my humble opinion.

I've also heard that Preston King will also be interviewing at Ballard. Thought he did a good job replacing Sander at Iroquois.

You're right, but doesn't mean they aren't either...I didn't say all so not necessarily a blanket statement. I was referring to what I know and why I didn't say all schools.

I dont have an issue with kids playing out of district, honestly there aren't many teams that live in areas with several schools within driving or walking distance that aren't recruiting. I know of a couple that won state titles this past season with several non-dsitrict kids. Just part of it in today's culture and climate.

Almost received the death penalty?? This isn't SMU, if anything LCA is much closer in comparison with paying players! LOL. Just because they didn't forfeit games doesn't make them less guilty...they certainly schould have give up those wins since those wins came at the hands of players who didn't pay their way. No pain on my end and certainly not a stretch, I wasn't on that staff and really could not care less. But don't confuse the dolls of the KHSAA with accurate punishment either. KHSAA is NOT consistent in punishment handed down and seems to contradict itself on way too many occasions to validate HOW they come to their decisions. We can compare schools all day on perhaps another thread or just PM me..yet I don't recall many people jumping on and bashing Raines, Dale, many others the way McPeek has been treated. I blame MANY people at Fairview for what happened, he was a small potato in the grand scheme. I will give you that Cordia is #1 but they aren't much on discussion in this thread for me since I was mainly trying to compare like schools and sports along with the scope of the violations. But I will say that Rhodes himself was the primary culprit in their violations where as in MOST of the other cases it was a MUCH larger issue and not solely the coach. You know as well as I do that if your AD comes and tells you a kid is good to go, that you aren't going back and doing the double check yourself. You trust that what he tells you is accurate because that's his job. I don't know a single coach, who isn't the AD, that is doing that.

Correct...so let's hire him at Dunbar. or Bell or anywhere else that sees it fit for their football program and their student body. As the good Lord said to the women at the well, "go from here and sin no more." I don't know McPeek at all, couldn't pick him out in a lineup. ANY coach worth their salt understands that everybody needs a second chance. Heck, we would run out of coaches with all the ones that have been fired before and didn't get a second chance! LOL. Dudley Hilton would be banned for life if we held KHSAA rules violations against him! Just saying.

It was stated that he got in trouble for recruiting and played a player that turned out ineligible. What else did HE do? Notice I said HE...not his Uncle...but him specifically? Tons of schools have broken the rules and we give so many of those coaches a pass, why is McPeek different? Please...by all means, cast some stones. How is what happened there much different than what happened at Highlands with the Mitchell kid (SP?). Yet Dale wasnt sent to misfit island. LCA was corrupt in several sports, yet we gave them and their coaches a pass. Heck I would say Fairview was the 2nd most corrupt behind LCA...but hey, good Christian folk get a pass (I say that in jest). LOL Funny how we pick and choose though.

If people only knew how many kids a year play a game or two (including all sports) before a school realizes they are ineligible...it would shock folks. Keep in mind that the KHSAA works on a self report policy. Grade reports come out weekly and if a kid doesnt meet eligibility requirements then they are ineligible. You honestly wouldn't believe how many times it happens and schools don't report it. So with that said, if the only issue is that he played an ineligible player, then I am fine with the hire...he does it again then that's habitual and deserves a stern punishment. It's not like he was out buying prostitutes and snorting coke at an underage party...McPeek should be forgiven. Everyone should get a second chance.

Central has always fared well. They had 9-10-11 wins a season prior to Ty, keep in mind that most of the 90's ALL Louisville schools played 4A regardless of size. They were in the Region finals quite a few times prior to Ty only to run into Boyle who had a few good ball players if I recall. Some down years too, but reclassification REALLY helped them, we can't say it didn't. Not to take ANYTHING away from what they have accomplished at all. Ty took them to the next level with a better lay of the land.

Any word out of the Ballard camp? 30 days is approaching quickly if it hasn't already. Wonder who Bell will hire, they are close enough to TN to draw a decent coach who might wanna double dip retirement. The next month should be interesting if what villecoach says is accurate about Central and Male
