I’ve been up in that little box before and the view is great but I have to say I love my little perch at home in the Panther’s Den a lot more. And I get to walk up steps to get to mine instead of a ladder!! lol Before I could make it up there I was offered to sit behind the scorers table and I was not turning that down!!

Augusta rolls to their 3rd straight win led by Kylan Hinson’s career high 36 points including 7 three pointers. The rest of the team shared 7 more 3s as LJ Conner had 15 and Conner Snapp and Keeton Bach finished with 10 points apiece. The Panthers return to action on Saturday night at home vs. Bourbon County. By that time they will know their district tournament opponent as the all important draw will be held on Thursday.

Augusta picked up a nice win over a struggling Bishop Brossart team at the Panther’s Den. After trailing 31-22 at the half the Panthers outscored the Mustangs 21-10 in the 3rd quarter and held off a furious Brossart run to win it, 65-60. LJ Conner led the Panthers with 24 points, 20 in the second half, and was joined in double digits by Kylan Hinson and Chan Conner with 13 apiece. Augusta improved to 13-12 and will go to Falmouth tomorrow night to face the Wildcats.

Yes it is that Commodore. He looked pretty rusty last night but with just about three weeks until the district tournament he’s got time to become a factor in the postseason. A tough out just got even tougher.

Panthers bounce back early this afternoon with a win over Pike County Central in the first meeting between the two teams. Augusta was in control early but a strong 2nd quarter by PCC got them back into it and it was close throughout the second half with the Panthers making the free throws needed to win the game. They are now 10-8 with a busy week coming up. Kylan Hinson led Augusta with 23, Conner Snapp added 22 and LJ Conner had 21. Keeton Bach and Will Kelsch chipped in with 3 and 2 respectively. Next up for Augusta: 1/22 vs Boone County 6:00 1/23 vs Harrison County 6/7:30 1/27 vs Mason County 7:30 All games at home

Don’t sleep on Fleming County. They’ve got a nice group that play very well together. Might not win the 16th this season but with no seniors on the squad it could very well be in their sights next season.

A nice crowd at the Panther’s Den was treated to an exciting matchup between the Panthers and Bearcats. Augusta led 30-19 after 1 quarter but a 13-2 run to start the 2nd by the Bearcats put an end to that real quick and no one would lead by double figures again. Augusta had a chance to win at the buzzer but the shot didn’t fall. Walton Verona outscored the Panthers 10-5 in ot to reach the final margin. Conner Snapp led Augusta with a new career high of 32 points. The Panthers fell to 9-8 and face Pike County Central today in Carlisle at 1:45. More scoring to come. I left my folder at school!

Augusta led 17-11 after the 1st quarter but got sloppy in the 2nd and found themselves down 29-24 at the break. The 3rd quarter might have been the best quarter of the season for the Panthers as they outscored the Lions 28-7 to take a commanding 52-36 lead into the 4th and never looked back. Kylan Hinson led the Panthers with 19 points followed by Keeton Bach with 18, Conner Snapp with 14 and Will Kelsch with 12. The win improved Augusta to 8-6 and snapped a two game skid. The next game is not too far away as they travel to Fleming County tomorrow afternoon - game time, 3:30.

Yes, Campbell County is the clear #3. I know that some want to say that GRC isn’t who we thought they were but the results those thoughts are based on are games outside our region. Within the 10th they are still the solid #1, then there’s Mason and Campbell, then it becomes wide open IMO. Not too much longer to go but long enough to shake things up before district week starts! Tough road win by the Royals btw!

Final from Augusta. The Panthers put up a strong fight but the Camels were able to pull away. LJ Conner led all scorers with 28 points and Aydan Hamilton led the Camels with 19. Augusta fell to 7-5 and play at Paris Friday night vs. the Greyhounds in the All A tournament. Campbell County, 9-5, goes on the road Friday night to face the Conner Cougars.

Augusta fought off a furious 3rd quarter rally from Carroll County that brought the visitors within 6 points of the home team before a 28 point 4th quarter would open the margin back up as Augusta improved to 7-4 with the win. All five starters finished in double figures. Next Wednesday, Augusta welcomes Campbell County to the Panthers’ Den for their final tuneup before the Class A tournament. SCHEDULING NOTE: Augusta will face Paris on Friday night (1/6) at 7:30 following the girls game that starts at 6. All other quarterfinal games will take place on Saturday. All tournament games will take place in Paris.

So the school record for consecutive losses is 11? Things aren’t looking that bad. Augusta’s record is 49 if memory serves me correct. Between the 1985-86 and 87-88 seasons. Dark dark years. It gets brought up occasionally to let the guys responsible for our more recent successes know how far forward they’ve brought our program. It’s tough after a large class graduates. Each game is just more and more experience that can only help. Wins may be sparse but they’ll come.

Augusta rolled to their 5th win of the season yesterday after 3 straight losses. Kylan Hinson led the Panthers with 24 points and was joined in double figures by LJ Conner with 17 and Conner Snapp with 12. Augusta finishes the month of December with back to back games at home on Wednesday and Thursday vs. St. Patrick and Carroll County.

The Panthers improved to 4-1 and face Boone County at home on Wednesday (6/7:30) and Bracken County in Brooksville on Saturday at 6 followed by the girls varsity game at 7:30.

There are all kinds of wins. The last one a coach wants to see is an ugly one. That’s what Jason Hinson got tonight from his Panthers. Despite going 1-19 from 3 the Panthers were able to pull out the win. Augusta led by as many as 17 in the first half but that lead dwindled down all the way to 2 points with 1:11 to go but the Panthers were able to extend the lead and improve to 3-1. LJ Conner and Conner Snapp each had 18 and Kylan Hinson added 11. Next up the Panthers will face Russell at the Mike Murphy Classic in Maysville at 2:30 on Saturday.

The Panthers improve to 2-0 on the season with the win over the Saints. LJ Conner leads the team with 16 points. Also in double figures were Kylan Hinson with 14, Tristan Klingelhoffer with 11 and Conner Snapp with 10. Augusta takes on Newport @ Harrison County on Saturday at noon kicking off a full day of games in Cynthiana.

Yeah, it’s a far fall from the recent success they had. Such is the plight at a small school. It comes in waves. Hopefully there are some games on the schedule they can be competitive in.

This one wasn’t ever close as Augusta jumped out to a 34-7 1st quarter lead, played everyone in uniform, and rolled to their first win of the season. LJ Conner lead the Panthers with 24 points. Will Kelsch added 11 and Kylan Hinson 10, including three dunks.

Being a 10th region guy I only read this thread to see how many of the posts were in reference to the legendary musician. I wonder if Lucille will attend practice? They could sell tickets!! ??? Best of luck to Coach King and Breathitt County!!
