"We go to the games to cheer for the kids because we know them. We know their families. They're part of us. We have a connection to the town in which they've grown up and played. Cheering for the hometown team has a meaning beyond winning and losing. We're cheering for a part of ourselves that makes us proud.
That's the soul of high school sports.
When we lose that, we've lost everything."
