lee was not the best team in the region last year...pcc, leslie and powell were all better than lee. Lee county was a very beatable team last year. Not taking anything away from hammonds though i thought it was amazing how well his guys were prepared for that game and they most definitely pulled off an upset that day....just not against the BEST team in the region IMO.

yea not negative at all...sorry should not have added the lol in there must be a reflex or something. just never heard of him and came to me as a suprise...not being negative again but even in the 14th with the majority of pitchers being "under par" compared to other regions not many people hit .500. kind of hard to believe...NOT NEGATIVE...sorry if i offend anyone but im just stating my opinion

how old is napier...i heard that he had been held back once or twice...does anyone know??? cause if that kid is 13 or 14 he will be a star in the 14th region his junior and senior year.

from what i have heard the seniors like coach varney alot...it is just an extremely difficult transition after playing baseball the same way for 3 or 4 years. He has there support and they respect him.

Your right we should stick to the thread. i wasnt the one who said anything about being or not being the best hitter in the mountains. Sorry that i disagree with you and that i dont think that Hendrix cant hit with people like Gatrell from Boyd Co. Just my opinion but i just have to disagree they are just a step ahead

First off no he shouldnt go ahead and sign to the D1 school of his choice first off cause he is not good enough and wont be and niether was the catcher from last year so i dont know where that off the wall comment came from. But just because he is an underclassman doesnt mean he cant be or wasnt better. The only thing keeping him out of the lineup was seniority and his hitting. Ill admit last years catcher could outhit him but behind the plate this years catcher is better. As far as throwing out runners go last years catcher may have thrown out about one or two and when your pitcher is afraid to throw an 0-2 curve in the dirt then you know you have problems behind the plate. Although that particular catcher was much improved from his junior to senior year he still is just not the natural defensive catcher that powell has this year. So i disagree that the biggest hole that they have to fill is behind the plate. Now at the plate hitting is a different story they will have troubles but they still have Muncie and King, and hopefully a couple of the young guys can step up and help them out. But anyways im just respectfully disagreeing with you. And by the way only 2 players left out of last years 5 still playing college ball. Maynard at Lindsey Wilson and Billings at Pikeville, what happened to Banjo remains a mystery to me and Shoemaker transferred to Morehead and Tipton never went. :thumb:

most college baseball teams that i have saw use The Game hats. IMO i hate demarini bats i dont know just dont like them i am partial to tpx

yea in fact ive never seen bowling hit the ball to the opposite field in all his years but not saying he isnt a great hitter he has tremendous power to right but if he had to go opposite to left i dont know how much power he would have cause ive never see him to it.

i did make an argument for him to be over coach Hammonds but never Meehan Dixon or Combs nobody on this post was saying that he should be put over those coaches. The only argument that i have is that Hammonds has a whole lot more years under his belt than dean does and hammonds hasnt done anything in forever we cant dwell on the past, since 00' when dean took over powell what has Hammonds done???? Now what has dean done???? answer that and then think of it is possible for him to be top 4.

i know that powell plays boyd co. this year and im excited to see if they can at least compete with them.

i would really love to see some guys that can go to all fields, and thats why i like hendrix he can go the other way sometimes but mostly ive seen him to be a pull hitter. Im going to miss watching Chase Patrick this year, he is one of the best all around hitters that i have seen in forever, he will hit the ball wherever you pitch it. no flaws. Does anybody out there know any guys that can go either way?

i see where your coming from pat dad trust me i think coach hammonds is a great coach and would love for my kid to play for coach hammonds fact of the matter is he hasnt had the success that he once did. And kids fan from 96-99 Powell did not have a district championship and had 0 regional tournament wins...obviously when dean came to powell in 00' he was doing something right because that 00' team(deans first year) made it to the regional finals with a huge upset over KCC in the first round which at the time were favored to win the region.

Very good point about coach wood being in the 10th i took that into consideration and i know the playing field isnt the same with him i was just stating facts. but even if you take away the district tournaments between melton and dean, dean is still more succesful than melton, there is no argument about that. And i understand that Hammonds is a great coach PatDad im just saying that its been a while and like weve all said just cause he made it to the semi finals last year doesnt mean anything. I really dont think that just because a kid is looked at to go pro is any thing to add to his coaching credentials unless he had been with that kid his whole life im sure the kid was a stud before he came to high school.

well if you want to play the regional numbers game then since coach dean came to powell in 00' lets see the results of dean, melton, and wood. 05= Dean(Regional Finals) Melton(Regional Semis) Wood(did not appear in region) 04= Dean(Regional Finals) Melton(did not appear) Wood(did not appear) 03= Dean(Regional Semis) Melton(Regional Finals) Wood(did not appear) 02= Dean(Regional first round) Melton(Regional first round) Wood(Regional Semis) 01= Dean(Regional Semis) Melton(did not appear) Wood(Regional Semis) 00= Dean(Regional Finals) Melton(did not appear) Wood(Regional Semis) All of this is assuming both coach melton and coach wood were still in those respected school since 00'. As far as i can see coach dean has a better resume in the regional tournament than both of these coaches. And if this has nothing to do with the past then what has coach hammonds done in the past god knows how long???? So like i said coach dean top 3 in the region. :thumb:
