Hey, there is nothing wrong with a one year player tring to come in and do something to help out his team. Quick Fact there was a young man that played left field for the Powell County Pirates last years 14th region champs and did not get his chance to play at the Varsity level until about 10 games left of the season. Later on in that season he won the 14th region MVP honors he could have went to the next level to play baseball but choose to go support are country in the army. So jmo I think that if you have a athlete in your school that you know about try to get them to play cause they may be a diamond in the rough. Pat Dad you never know stick with him.

Dont remember the Hall kid but id say he is a good hitter as well.

Yes alot of baseball teams are counting down the days as well, are there any key games going on the 26th of March.

Timmy Baker is a very solid hitter the Wells kid he has never really hurt us any but Baker really good hitter. Does the Hendrix boy still play for Leslie.

I just think that Estill is down a lot this year from last year and with Berryman injured, I see them making a short appearance in the district tourney, losing to Powell bad.....

I really like Tates Creek bieng in the top 10 as well as Pikeville but i think that Knott Central has one of the nicer facilities in KY as well!

You cant get RBI's if the guys in front dont get on base. You cant measure how good a player is by the amount of RBI's that he has, so im in agreement not that it is a useless stat, but a bit overrated. The stat that will tell you who is the most productive offensive player in the lineup is the OBP or on base percentage. To have a good OBP relies only on the hitter, and only he can control that.

It will be played on Alice Lloyd's field this Sunday but im not exactly sure about the times yet. Does anyone know who all will be participating in this game? I know that Coach Varney from Powell is the head coach and the players from Powell are 1B- Colten King, SS- Keenan Muncie, 2B- Joe Snowden, and P- Corey Benningfield.

If Knott Co. Central had two players worth of being even mentioned for All-State, you would think that they would have had a better year...Two players of that caliber can carry a team.

imo...starters center-romans power forward-jeremy banks small forward-dennis shooting guard-daniel kinser point gaurd-lance overbee(the best ball handler on the team, just been out with knee problems) just my opinion

They wouldnt call themselves studs but Colten King and Keenan Muncie from Powell County are going to play college ball, King to Union, and Muncie to Pikeville.

Powell is happy to be there but they are definitely not satisfied with just winning the 14th region, they feel like they have a great chance to be the first 14th region team to play at Applebees Park in the state baseball tournament. And to answer Jim Schue's question about there pitching, yes they do go three deep. There 1 man stands above the others a little bit but the 2 man and 3 man are two great pitchers who on any day can throw a great game. The 2 man started the regional championship and was getting roughed up a bit against Leslie and the 3 came in to hold them to 1 run in i think 4 or 5 innings, so yes they have pitching. :thumb:

All i know is that if you are a baseball fan you couldnt ask for any two better games to watch than the two semi-final games tonight in Powell County.

Powell as of tommorow will play Breathitt the last 3 years in the regional tournament in fact(04 they played in the second round, 05 in the first)
