Student behavior has appeared to negatively increase since the resignation of Coach Messer. I hope the Fleming County Administration is ready for a rough ride. It makes no sense as to why they would push out the only student respected disciplinarian in the school. For every action there is an equal an opposite reaction... I hope FCHS is ready to reap what they sowed. I predict difficulties with student behaviors will be at an all-time high.

Hmm. I'm not so sure you are correct. Having been involved I believe the Panthers were beaten out of the Elite 8 in 1998.

That was 1998 and 1999... made it to the quarter finals of the sweet 16 in 1998 and beat out in the first round in 1999.

Just to clear the air and get rid of any misunderstandings before they begin. Coach Messer was in front of Jackson City's bench getting control of his own players and preventing any thing else from occuring when the young man came off of the bench. At no point in time did Coach Messer do anything or say anything to any player from Jackson City. He and Jackson City's Coach talked after the incident and both seemed satisfied with the referee's handling of the situation.

Good win Tigers? Wow... not only are you mistaken on how far out onto the floor the Fleming student section was, but apparently you also do not know who actually won the game. First, Richie Gray #55 (Fleming's Big Man) had possession of the ball in front of Jackson's bench when the playing Jackson player became overly physically aggressive in his attempts to retrieve the ball. In response, Gray put forth further efforts to maintain possession of the ball which resulted in the Jackson player falling on the floor. Jackson's #55 then came off of the bench and assaulted Gray, at this time Coach Messer headed towards Jackson's bench to calm down the situation and seperate the teams. As he headed over to Jackson's bench Coach Messer was assaulted by a Jackson player. As for the Fleming student section they were outside of the boundaries of the floor. The kids are very aware of what areas they are permitted on, and those they are not. As a matter of fact the Jackson fans began standing on the floor during the fourth quarter and the Fleming student section began chanting to them "Off of the Yellow." The boundary of the Fleming floor is trimmed in about a foot of yellow paint. The kids are aware that they are not even permitted on that area. I understand that you are passionate about your team and their season, however, I would plan on being more realistic when posting and not exaggerating the facts.

The old "pool" gym at Fleming County' old High School (now Simons Middle School) was horrible!! I can't think of any worse gym. On one end you had stairs up to the exit, on the other end you had stairs going down into the locker rooms. On either side were the sides of a former swimming pool soaring approx. twelve feet above your head. Either way you went you were either falling up or down stairs, or ramming into a concrete wall. The sidelines had about 2 feet of give space, made it very difficult to take the ball out. Fans sat in one of two upper levels. The first level was accessible by ladders down onto the gym floor level. Players had to climb up these ladders to check it at the scorers table on the first level. The top balcony consisted of 3-4 narrow benches that circled the entire gym. The railings around the top level were so flimsy they couldnt prevent the lightest of people from falling. I am surprised there weren't more stories of people falling from the top level and getting hurt. Thank goodness they filled that gym in and built a new one. It was much more than your common eye sore... it was a threat to human safety.

Thats funny. You want to blame it on the officials. Why don't you go back and look at shot selection. Fleming was pounding the ball in the paint while Jackson City was firing them from beyond the arc or off of one dribble from 15 feet. There is going to be an obvious difference from that factor right there. And when you go back to look at that tape tell me how many three point plays fleming had vs. Jackson City. You'll find that jackson city has almost double the number of 3 points plays. Finally, I'm sure that Coach Messer's ears are ringing from trying to avoid a bench clearing brawl. Or maybe you don't remember the kid that came off of Jackson City's bench and pushed Coach Messer in the chest and yelled at him about how he was going to whip him ... only in more explicit language. It definitely makes it difficult to argue that Jackson City was not treated fairly when a player has the nerve to leave the bench and push the opposing team's coach. Seems to me the score was reflective of justice deserved.
