  1. Elliott - 89 Menifee - 76 I believe these teams play similar styles of up-tempo ball. It may end up with both teams scoring well over 100. I'm not quite sure on how Menifee will perform. The team is coming off a rough weekend with one of their Seniors losing his father to cancer. Hopefully they can pull up their spirits and play hard for Mr. Lawson.
  2. Maybe West is, or Fairview, or even Menifee... aren't they part of this thread too... or did you forget that Elliott isn't the only team playing in this Region? :thumb: Oh - and just for arguments sake. My original post in this thread was made at 9:17pm... and the "goodnight" post in another thread was posted at 10:19pm... nearly an hour's difference. Maybe you do need a clock, or just lessons on how to read one.
  3. I have seen more than one performance, over the course of several years. I am more aware than most that these are just kids playing a game. I do not have any hatred towards Elliott County - or anyone for that matter. I simply am not particularly fond of some recent behaviors that I have witnessed. These behaviors are not isolated to Elliott Co., however, it seems that Elliott fans refuse to believe that their boys are capable of anything less than perfection. Which strikes me as odd, considering that these boys are just kids. I know nothing of their personalities, nor how they act off of the basketball floor. I am sure that they are respectable young men that simply get caught up in the game. Furthermore, people "like me" shouldn't make your season special. The heart and desire of your boys, and the pride that they have brought back to your County should be what's special. Great times like these do not last forever in small counties - be sure to soak it all up.
  4. You should refrain from attacking individual players. :thumb:
  5. Every team is to designate one speaking captain to address the referee's, not several. Only one player per team may address the referee's during game play - per KHSAA rules. So, let me ask you EC fans... who is your speaking Captain?
  6. That's awfully big headed of you to say that I am following the "Elliott Game." Doesn't it take TWO teams to make a game? Who is to say that I don't follow the other team? Just because I am at a game where Elliott is playing, doesn't mean I am part of their following. Your clock must be broken. Please pay attention to the times that posts are left. This post in this thread was prior to the post in the other thread. :thumb:
  7. I am not arguing about this anymore. Everyone sees things differently, and has different definitions of passion and sportsmanlike conduct. With that being said, Elliott County is a very athletic and skilled team. I am sure they will go far this season. Goodnight.
  8. So - I was correct. Two years ago - Region Finals - Against Ashland - at MSU. Right? That was a wonderful game to watch. That's the passion I miss from the current Elliott Co. team.
  9. Not a "hater", just a realist making sure all facts are known. And yes, several posts were scrutinizing the players (which is the term I used, not blaming). I read all of those posts - which is why I defended the boys. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere my friend. No matter what color jersey you wear.
  10. How do you suppose I do that? Post tape of the game? The beloved Elliott Co. following isn't going to believe anything any opposers say - regardless of proof. So, does it really matter?
  11. Define passionate, because our definitions must be different. When 2 to 3 players begin walking up and down the floor - instead of hustling - because the previous play doesn't go their way... I don't call that passion. And there's more than one in this bunch.
  12. Very foul mouths. Verbally assaulting referrees (without punishment might I add) regarding their disagreement of made calls. It was just very unsportsmanlike and not at all the same team I cheered on against Blazer at MSU 2 seasons ago in the Region Tourny Championship.
  13. That's fine and dandy. Every school has it's cycles. Remember back in 1998 & 1999 when FC was still part of the 10th region? They were an incredibly athletic and talented team - going to the Sweet 16 both years. In 1998 Fleming defeated Mason 60-45, and Elliott County boasted a record of 6-17 with losses to everyone in their current district. In 1999 Fleming defeated Mason in District play Mason 72-69, while Elliott boasted a record of 12-11, with losses to Wolfe, East, West, Russell, Raceland, Fairview, Rowan, and Lewis. Point being - everything happens in cycles. Yes, Elliott County's current group of boys are wonderful athletes - but they won't be in high school forever.
  14. It seems to me that the more successful this team gets the worse the antics of their players get. It's sad to see their good fortune come at the cost of their manners.
  15. I realize that Elliott will most likely win this one, but after watching their game tonight I REALLY wish they wouldn't. I am disappointed at some of their player's behaviors and use of profanity on the floor. There were moments of sheer disrespectfulness towards the refs, and it is very upsetting. I feel as if a loss would do the character of this team well.
  16. This thread is ridiculous. If Fleming had canceled against Lewis Co., or anything other school in the state, other than Elliott Co. would there be a 2-page post about it? Absolutely not! The decision to cancel was probably a mixture of opinions from the AD and Coach - along with direction from the Transportation Director, and Superintendent. No matter the reason for canceling, whether it was weather-based or avoidance-based, the two teams surely have a game contract. Fleming will most likely have to pay a cancellation fee, or reschedule the game. Regardless of the outcome I think it is absolutely pathetic to scrutinize the basketball players for attending the Mason County game. As previously stated, the students have no say on whether or not they play. They merely follow direction. Since their game was canceled they made good use of their Friday night and went to see a nearby game... with their friends and/or girlfriends. Is it really any of our business what these teenage boys do with their "free" time away from basketball? I for one am glad that they were at a basketball game, as opposed to the other horrible things they could be doing. AND - if the game were canceled due to direction from the Central Office, wouldn't it be an effective use of the FC Coaching Staff's time to go and see the Mason game? That is, assuming they were even at the game... seems to me no one can be certain of that or not. To sum it up - this is silliness. Games get canceled all of the time - for numerous reasons. Elliott County shouldn't let their ego get ahead of their manners. Curiosity may have killed the cat, but his over-confidence lead him across the street.
  17. Menifee may have less than a stellar night on Tuesday. One of their Senior's lost his father yesterday to a battle with cancer. Everyone please keep the Lawson family in your prayers.
  18. Let's give credit where credit is due. Congrats to Bath!! The 16th Region is proud!
  19. Just thought I'd share this article from the Ashland Daily Independent. http://www.dailyindependent.com/localsports/local_story_009001119.html
  20. Ferguson will be successful no matter where he chooses to attend, or when he makes his final decision. He is an excellent athlete and wonderful young man. I wish him well.
  21. I wouldn't say that Fleming had no team effort. Their boys played hard. I think they became frustrated when Menifee began to build a substantial lead. I don't see a lot of harmony among the Fleming squad. Seems to me that they might benefit from some team-building activities. All in all, the FC boys worked; it just didn't come together for them. I have to applaud their efforts. :thumb:
  22. I didn't see them do it in unison as a team, but certain players did do it at random. Is it really a technique? Is it supposed to help your defense? I guess it could help in making sure the player is low and ready to defend.
