  1. The new Fischer Homes Subdivision off the Chateau Ridge Subdivision is the only subdivision that has any sort of tuition deal with the City of Fort Thomas. Fischer Homes like every other buider is trying to sell new homes. This an incentive they offer. Keep in mind another Fischer subdivision in the city limits of Fort Thomas is in the Campbell County district. Homes sell in this location better without this incentive. Fischer has a deal with the Dayton subdivision and Fort Thomas Schools to reduce tuition by 50% if they live in this subdivision. It is not City wide. Not many homes exist in this subdivsion. I am not certain, but I don't believe Highlands has any kids currently playing from this subdivision. I think they might have about 20 homes in this subdivision. Most kids from this area historically have gone to New Cath. I also know that the first varsity job Walton's Jeff Barth applied for was the Dayton job. This was when Lickert left and before the Walton job was ever open. They decided to stay "in house". Just sayin'.......
  2. MIA in the 2nd half: Compton and Sullivan. Injured or something else? Two of your best players not on the field.
  3. The Bellevue and Brossart games weren't close last year either.
  4. Walton 48 Dayton 6. This could be worse. Walton should run all over these guys.
  5. Brossart had a lot of things go their way in the 1st half. Walton penalties (some iffy) kept some drives going for touchdowns, and a squib kick that bounced right off a Walton's front line on kickoff return. Walton came back the 2nd half, pitched a shut out and ran it right at Brossart. I believe Walton ended up with 442 yards on the ground Saturday night! Brossart has some nice players and is well coached. I believe Brossart will be as solid a #4 seed in the playoffs that anyone in Class A will see (assuming everyone takes care of business). Walton's style of offense can wear defenses out if properly executed.
  6. Coach Schaefer's D will have an answer this week. Walton will win if they can limit the mistakes. They will move the ball.
  7. YIKES!! I think Walton needed a vist from Dr. Phil tonight.
  8. IF Walton can take care of the football they will stay in the game. Defensively Walton CAN hold their own. I believe Walton averages over 300 yards per game on the ground. Good defense and ball control is the game plan. I can remember an old squatty basketball coach once told me, "if ifs and buts were fruits and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas". Lots of ifs and buts here, but I would not be surprised to see Walton hang in there.
  9. Bellevue had a once in a decade type team last year that fell just short of Beechwood. Walton-Verona was the better team Friday night, which is a reflection of the type of players and staff put together in a short amount of time. Funny how late last year some posted the problem with Walton was they had "Just a middle school head coach." Evidently they knew very little of Coach Barth, his background, and abilities. Northern Kentucky is on alert, special things are happening under the bright lights in Verona, they are fun to watch. Tough test this week, but the Bearcats are a resilient bunch and definitely a team to be reckoned with in Single A.
  10. Looks like the Birds are getting it figured out on both sides of the ball. After the Withrow "hiccup" these guys are rolling.
  11. I have heard Bellevue has a pretty tough north/south running game (as usual). If Walton can contain and take care of penalties/turnovers they will be in the game. Against Carroll they finally started to take care of the ball better. If they can put a complete game together they could get a W.
  12. I believe Holmes is a paper tiger in a watered down 6 classification system. I would like for them to prove me wrong, but don't see it.
  13. Withrow could go toe to toe with any team in the area on a given night. Withrow is typically inconsistent with their game. Withrow probably has 5 to 6 DI College athletes on their team. Games like this are part of Dale's master plan to see all different types of teams. Dale prides his teams on being athletic and fast. Withrow was just as athletic and faster. Ohio football has over 700 teams, so by population alone they will have more teams that are better, but I believe per capita that Kentucky is just as competitive. Kentucky's good teams can play with Ohio's good teams. Ohio just has more teams. Northern Kentucky is part of Greater Cincinnati. Greater Cincinnati has tons of talent top to bottom. How about a tournament with Northern Kentucky, Greater Cincy Catholic, Cincy Public North, Cincy Public South? Top teams from each for the area final 4.
  14. Was not at the game, but had heard Withrow had 3 guys on the D line over 300 pounds. How physical was Withrow? I'm sure they had plenty of skill players as always.
  15. Coach Schafer is certainly the Hanover/Moeller blood in the mix.
  16. Jeff Barth is the head coach and Jason Sullivan is the assistant O-Coordinator. They have some Bluebird/Hanover/Moeller blood rolling through Walton these days.
  17. 2 straight games with 300+ yards rushing for Walton. This game could have been a lot worse. The Bearcats just need to finish stronger (they will). Concentrate on execution and the score will take care of itself. Good job Bearcats!
  18. I think the Bearcats will continue to build on last week's win. Walton by a touchdown.
  19. Good job Bearcats! Concentrate on doing the little things correct and big things will happen. Nice to learn lessons and still get a win. Conditioning, Fundamentals and Faith in the system = wins. Keep moving forward.
  20. Walton's D will be strong. They need to hold on to the football to get the W.
  21. Duffy's '92 team was loaded with talent. They had at least 4 guys starting on that team who went D-1 and several others go on and play successful in lower levels of college. They had 8 hard core seniors who all started and a talented group of juniors on that team. Duffy was the right guy for that time, and the program was handed off to the best possible candidate who took the reigns and hasn't let up since. A lot of hate goes to Duffy for personal reasons from some people in this town. Those who played for the guy had/have respect for the man as a coach and a sometime flawed human being (just like the rest of us). Sometimes we get our vision a little clouded with recent succes (rightfully so), but that '92 team was very, very good. Is there another Highlands team that had 4 D-1 players starting at one time on it? (This would be a good question for JBWill).
