JH is no longer under the radar as seemed to be the case leading into the playoffs Not a lot of respect for a #1 team in a tough district. After the PRP victory some stood up and noticed but still did not expect the outcome against Male. Now they get the opportunity to step up and take on the #1 ranked team in the state, defending 4A state champs on a 25 game winning streak. Coach Brown does not let this faze the Bulldogs, he has been there before. Expect the Bulldogs to be business as usual, level headed and unintimidated. Should be an outstanding game to watch. I shall be there to get a first hand look.

Hope that Jefferies and Curley are okay. I had the pleasure of coaching Justin in youth league, a great kid.

I am sure that only a portion of the post game interview was printed in that article. Fortunately for the "fodder seekers" that quote was the part that made it into print. Coaches in general "stand up and take responsibility" every time they step onto the practice field and/or game field. Rarely do the "back seat drivers" see everything that happens in the same manner. Read all you want into the quote but try to look at the quote for what it is worth, a remark made to a question by Jody Demling after a tough loss. Do you know what the question was? Neither do I, but I look at the response as literally meaning that Manual does not make the plays that should be made in crunch time. Nothing more, nothing less. A ball bounces off a receiver's hands, a punt muffed at the 1 yard line, a missed tackle that goes another fourty yards for TD a dropped ball on a fake punt a lapse on a fake punt etc, etc. Does this mean that the kids are to blame? NO! Are the coaches to blame? NO! Who is to blame? Obviously we all need to have someone to put the blame on. Maybe, just maybe, that is what "snakebit" means. Not that St. X did not win the game by beating Manual with plays that they made. After all when you get quality teams together it usually comes down to which team executes and which team doesn't. St. X made the plays that needed to be made when given the opportunities to make them. As far as hearing this and that at a local watering hole. I am sure you can hear of a cure for cancer, automobiles that are fueled by toilet paper, and a solution to peace in the middle east. I hope you don't consider all that to be legitimate as well.

Manual vs. St. X has to be the premier matchup this friday in 4A.

LSU Rock is the first one that would come back to this board bashing Manual coaches if they were to take some chances and roll the dice, throw caution to the wind and go all in, blah, balh, blah. He should think about quality versus quantity when bashing dalen5 for only having 16 posts.

LSU Rock once again shows us his intelligence with cold hard facts. Anyway, the coaches at Manual have very little to do with which students actually get accepted to the school. The students must ALL go through the application process. Not every prospective football player gets accepted. When the final numbers come in for a freshman class, you may have 400 total students. Take a possible (?) 50% to figure a number of 200 males. Now even if that figure of 200 males all football propects in nature, that would be a good number. As we now should know, you need to take into account that a large percentage of those 200 males are also YPAS students or there for academics only. Your 25% figure to go on would still only amount to @ 50 young men to try football. Believe me that there are some that come out year to year that have NEVER played with a football much less participated in an organized form of the sport. I know that is no ones's fault but just shedding some light on a situation that some seem to think they know about. So, if this formula (that seems to work for LSU Rock and his favorite program) were applied to Manual, then we would theoretically have 50 freshmen football players. Reality check ! We have 35-40 players sign up to play but generally get an average of 30 per year. Of the senior class of 2005 (last years class) only 19 stayed all four years. Looking at this year's senior class, 32 of an original 35 have stayed to play their senior season. Once again, LSU Rock takes a jab at the staff at Manual with a comment about retaining players and fielding a team of 100 players. This year as in the past, Manual does not make a habit of dressing freshmen on the varsity team, only a select few have in the past five years. Manual still had @ 72 dress varsity on average this season. Do we want or need 100? Not particularly if the 70 that we have are not going to see significant time anyway. I am sure the teams that do have 100+ on varsity face the pitfalls that go along with trying to keep those players active. But hey, different strokes for different folks. I am also certain that if those 50 (?) would just work harder and get better quality coaching, we would not be having this discussion or many other discussions on this board. HAHAHAH!

LSU Rock is now the authority on all that is wrong and/or right with something he obviously knows little or nothing about. All Hail LSU Rock. Maybe when he is finished solving this dilemna he can start on all the problems worldwide. If he has the spare time. I am sure that if the shoes were on different feet that his people would have the class to relinquish their homefield amenities and probably not act as childish as those people at Manual.

To my knowledge a renter does not assume ultimate control over any facility or rented object. The final decisions should always be that of the owner. I would not espect to rent a house and do anything I want to it, I would think that the permission would have to be given by the owner. I just do not understand the issues since their are other facilities available to play this game. Go rent Male or Butler and do all the things a home team could do in their OWN stadium. I think LSU is trying to stir the pot up. I guess someone will say, "this is not the same as renting a house because St. X won the district there are extenuating circumstances", etc. etc. etc.

If St. X had wanted their own stadium, it would have been built. Truth is there was alot of money saved inrenting Manual Stadium over the years. Think about the actual costs of operations, general maintenance, upkeep, liability, etc. While I am certain the many St. X faithful would have been willing to chip in for a new stadium ( just as they did years back when the fitness facility was erected ) the people that make those decisions evidently did not feel the time right to be right until now.

LSU Rock, staying with the theme you started, Shame on St. X for even wanting the home team amenities at MANUAL Stadium. If they want the perks that go with being a home team, Build your own stadium.! Oh, that is right, they are. Until then take what you can get and quit being childish and narrow minded.

Preparing for a potent offense like Male is one thing. Actually having the team speed to execute that defense is totally different. All it takes is one misstep and it's TD from most anywhere on the field.

If memory serves me right, Coach Brown (formerly Nelson Co. head coach) had some success versus some Louisville teams in past years. He seems to have very disciplined teams that know how to control a game clock and football. Some are eating a lot of crow now since JH took on a very tough PRP team and won decisively. Now, Male does have plenty of weapons but JH has shown the ability to limit some potent offenses while putting up big offensive numbers themselves. Should be an interesting contest.
