Curious..to see how this plays out. I know of one D-1 coach who thinks this may play out.

I think Grant is a quick and easy hire for UF. The best hire? Maybe not. Hard to fault them if that is the case. He will be cheaper than making a run at Jay Wright. Could he be a Stan Heath? That would be a concern. Heath took talent from Gary Waters's Kent team, and in one year and rolled them to what the Elite 8? Grant did the same with Jeff Capel's team...which was pretty good to begin with. Grant is highly thought of in certain circles. He spent a lot of time at Florida and has some relationships with some of the current players. The key with him will be recruiting. Can he hang onto the talent in Florida. Obviously, with Donovan gone, the shine is off Florida to an extent and now opens the Sunshine State to get raided, by other programs.

Revisionist history on Rick's part. It was well known he adivsed against it, partly die to the school being a "football" school. Story has changed...unless Billy siad he was going to go no matter what Pitino thought and then Pitino called Foley to help BD out....but he did not think it was a good fit.

State statute requires public scchools to have a bid policy. I doubt that private schools are held to such requirements. Does private schools take part in the Kentucky Core Content Test, better known as CATS? You support public education through taxes which was passed on by the Founding Fathers who saw the need for public education. The department provides resources and guidance to Kentucky's public schools and districts as they implement the state's K-12 education requirements. Their requirements are seperate from what private schools choose to do.

Is Pitino holding a press conference saying he is not a candidate for the Florida job? Is Rick Barnes?

Pitino advised Donovan not to go to Florida.

Chief, you can call your sources close to Donovan, and I will call on mine. Mine was directly linked to whole negotiation process, the money side. I got info from the guy who led the charge for Donovan and the guy who had the money set up. I spilled it right after BD decided to stay. Principle of deal was money and other stipulations...once UK did that, then Donovan through the agent said he was coming. This had gone on well before TUbby exited....just like the Magic deal for Donovan.

More to it than that. Just as Donovan had been scanning the NBA waters...there was a lot to the UK rumors.

The Patterson's may have seen it. I also think the old adage of the longer a recruiting situation plays out, that it favors the closest school to home. That was UK. Distance was not a major issue with the Lucas's. Jai and family may have gotten caught up in all of the hoopla and saw Greene bolt and thought PP was headed there. I was not surprsed JL chose UF, but am surprised at how shocked they are. They had to have seen it being possible BD was going to leave.

UNC likes their position with Samuels. Evidently, BCG has been working the guardian of Samuels. I guess Tony Woods's visit to UF is off.

FWIU, the Lucas's have already started the process. They have contacted the Florida AD office in regards to being released. Foley will probably grant it...no pun intended, only after he meets with the new coach. The Lucas family is not real happy. One one of his last visits, Donovan said he would sign a piece of paper allowing Patterson to leave if he was not there. Means nothing other than the issue of him being there....because the LOI supersedes anything like that. Whether or not he did that with Lucas is unknown. Supposedly, OKSt said they would not be interested.

My hunch came true. The money people at UK had Donovan all but signed sealed and delievered. It is obvious that Donovan had his eyes at the NBA and his agent has been fishing there for a while.

John Brannen is on Grant's staff. Brannen and company were in Destin golfing right after the Final Four. Pelphrey was there as well...got my peeps.

Semardo Samuels is the kid that has skyrocketed with UK. UK may actually lead for this cat. Also, rumblings of an international PG in the mix if he can get through clearinghouse...know no names at this point. If Donovan bolts, Alex Tyus becomes intriguing.

GT went out on a ledge...I had a post that said Donovan would choose UK or the NBA back right after the Final Four. I have felt the only reason he would turn down UK was because he wanted an NBA job.

Rumors that there could be a couple more booted.

Something weird had to happen for Smith to end up at Iowa. Mick Cronin was going to get on the plane back to Cincy after his visit with a commitment from Smith when he left. But something happened.

What if Bailey has two more comparable starts as he did the other night? You still keep him down or even Dumatrait? The "Shotgun" had a great stat today....the Reds 5th starters are a combined 0-9 this season.

People get too tied up in the LB/MJ comparison, but as GT says a more comparable player is Magic Johnson. Magic though when he was 21 years young threw up 42 and 20 in the playoffs. James is good. but I don't think he is nearly as good as many think he is. Would he average more than 21 if he played in the Western Conference. As for the game....the officiating in the NBA is what drives me nuts. No consistency. Zero. Last night I saw the Jazz get whisteled for three fouls in 20 seconds. Tonight. no calls against Detroit that were fouls on the other end. Then you got Chauncey Billups shaving points. Turnover, idiotic three point attempt....

UC couldn't clear a roster spot, or couldn't get the waiver?

I wonder if this changes the complexion in their recruitment for Chris Singleton and Darius Miller.
