  1. She can get Gladys Knight and the Pips? Impressive, let's name the regional tournament after her and call the district tournament the Billy Ray Cyrus Country Western 63rd District Tournament. Bring on the Pips :dancingpa
  2. Will she be singing the national anthem or just the birthday requests?
  3. Is this like a rock star that has left the stage seemingly finished? Only to return for an encore performance when the lighters (cell phones today) illuminate in the crowd. Foreigner "Feels like the first time" what an encore! Will Clark make 2 encore performances? He already served a 1 game suspension so this would be number 2. Glad the Stones didn't make an encore at the super bowl...I think they were making up new words to "Satisfaction". Back to the subject, no more returns for Clark! He's no Jordan so I'll save my money to see another Jordan return and would even spring for a couple of AC/DC tickets. :ylsuper:
  4. I don't remember Cleveland State being in UKIT, they have been pretty good over the years. Maybe that team from Indiana...IUPUSI, there may be more letters and the order may be different? You get the picture
  5. Good grief Doc, don't pop off and then back peddle! Go for the knock-out, shame on Ashland for stacking the odds in their favor in the Ashland Invitational Tournament. Shame on the Cats :irked:
  6. No Vanhoose...give me the Muskies in a close one. With Vanhoose...give me the Devils by 10. Wait a minute,is this Rob or Jonathon? If it's No Rob...give me the Devils by 10 and with Rob give me the Muskies in a close one.
  7. I'll take a 3 man crew that will blow the whistle. The pace of the game, tight defenses, movement away from the ball, multiple screening, are all factors that we need to address. Can 2 guys effectively work a fast paced game? Probably not. Another concern is officials who work college games on one night and then work a high school game the next. The college games are 3 man with more contact on and off the ball which may be partly responsible for the trickle down effect of the physical play. Kinda like driving 70 on the interstate and exiting to a smaller road...it feels as if you are just creeping down the road and you begin to speed. It takes some time to adjust your driving, much like the ref who works a college game on Monday and a high school game on Tuesday.
  8. Very few high school players move on to play college basketball. What we are really preparing them for is becoming productive adults. Everytime someone mentions separating private-public or seeding or classification we screem "why change". The more changes we implement in high school, the closer it resembles the pro game. Is that really what we want?
  9. Tubby, no need for everyone to play each other. Would a #16 losing to a #1 have any impact on seeding? Teams normally schedule based on returning talent so there will be plenty of games between teams of similar stature. Coaches could openly rank teams 1-16 (16 teams in the 16th region). I'm sure some coaches would pat each other on the back (favorable rankings) but in an open meeting you run the risk of looking foolish. This would certainly put more emphasis on regular season games. I have too many ideas on this subject and it's time to get ready for church.
  10. It has been my experience that 3 man crews actually blow the whistle less. Officiating has evolved with society. Things we see on tv now would have made us blush 20 years ago but instead we have become desensitized to all the violence, sex, and drugs. It seems "not that bad now" and "turn the channel if you don't like it". By the same token, we watch an NBA game and think that holding, pushing, taunting, self-promoting, arguing with officials is just a part of the game and you need to accept it. I think we should give the power back to the officials and clean up the "Greatest Show On Earth". Kentucky high school basketball. When you start calling fouls for "holding" the coaches and players will soon figure out...you can't do it anymore. It's painful to watch some games when the refs are "letting them play". In football, does letting them play mean that you don't enforce the rules? (clip, unnecessary roughness, off sides, face mask) In baseball, a guy doesn't slide into a base and clobbers a fielder...just letting them play? OK guys, the double play exchange is bending the rules. I'm not blasting the referees, they are officiating the way they are instructed at rules clinics. Letting them play should not mean, not blowing the whistles! :irked:
  11. That would be correct, "Clark holds Daniel" :thumb:
  12. Rose Hill did play 4 games in the Palace this season, and played very well. For some reason I think the Greenup district and Boyd district have switched sites before. Wouldn't be as hard to man the doors as it was at Summit a few years ago. The driving distance to Raceland is not out of the question and it seats more than Blazer, Fairview, and Rose Hill. I bet Tubby started the rumor, he's always stirring the pot.
  13. Weatherby has been proposed a couple of times the most recent last year, since Fairview started a new rotation. Fairview had no interest in moving to Weatherby nor did most of the other schools. (hard to blame them, the fear was losing a hometown attraction) It's a little different in Northern Kentucky where only a few miles separate most of the schools and NKU is in the middle. Weatherby was even mentioned when Rose Hill/Raceland final a few years ago sparked big interest but Menifee Co. AD Howard was not interested. (West girls also played that night) Many fans chose not to make the trip to Frenchburg for fear of not getting in after driving for close to 2 hours. Sometimes the small school tournament has fallen prey to small thinking as well. Schools voted to put boys/girls games together to help crowds but separating the championship games would have been smart and generated more $$ for the schools. Adding an extra hour between games to empty the gym would have been nice. Fairviews gym seats nowhere near 1,100 people. The final tally will probably show around 600-700 paying in attendance for the championship game. Maybe more with the early exits before the start of the boys game. Easy way to find out is for the schools to check the financial report and I would guess the gate to be between 3,000-3,500. It will be Raceland's turn to host next season so the problem is solved for 1 year. Plenty of room in the Palace! :thumb:
  14. The Lions got took to the woodshed. Totally dominated start to finish. Looks like the narrow escape with Menifee was a wake-up for the 'View. Good luck Eagles. :dancingpa
  15. Didn't Russell actually scrimmage Scott County in the pre-season? :creepy:
  16. Both Rose Hill and Fairview will probably send the district tournament to the highest bidder. (Boyd Co. has the best seating capacity) Fairview rarely, if ever hosted the 63rd boys district. They did host the girls. Back to the subject, give me the Tomcats by 7 in a mild upset. (based on previous predictions)
  17. This may be a payback for last season when Elliott dropped a 14 pt. loss on the eventual region champions. This is a shocker! Anyone have details on this game?
  18. Big win for Rex and the 'View, not a chance that AT41 gets a forehead decoration but the jesting has been good. Henna? Is that the stain made from vegetables that only lasts 30 days? Look for AT41 to invest shorterm. Good job eagles :dancingpa
  19. Right you are, no one devil can guard him but a swarming D when he puts it on the floor could slow him down. If Boyd wins the secondary scorers have to step up. Owens will draw all kinds of attention. Look for the devils to use a zone defense :thumb:
  20. Does this mean that shooter will ink a ram on his forehead if the devils fall short? AT41 and shooter side by side at the parlor, what a sight
  21. "Back when I played...." I'd say that is hitting the nail on the head.
  22. Lawrence County, don't know the score but Breathitt did win and #34 was player of the game. Coach Hall is a class act, good luck :thumb:
  23. Not a Rose Hill fan? Wow I really missed that one, someone apparently has been posting under your name. :sssh: Rose Hill has a nice young team that will get better each day. They could very well make things interesting in the 64th. Good luck :thumb:
