Crystal Ball?

Cumberland is worrysome. They have great athletes, though they are undisciplined. If they listen to their Coach, who is very good, they are capable of a lot. If they (especially Washington, their "star") play to their capability, they could be hard to stop. They are very self destructive though at times. Yes, our offense is a little schizophrenic, one night click, click , click, and the next thud thud thud. Our QB has the talent, but only 1 year of real experience, so that accounts for some of it. Not being any kind of guru, I can't tell what happens tell you the truth. They had opportunities galore last night but couldn't cash it in.

Hey Briar Jumpers! Someone please educate the Somerset newspaper folks about the new playoff scheme. They have the Jumpers as district champs, which of course isn't crowned until after 2nd round of playoffs.

overall a well called game I thought. I really didn't see any "bad calls", however the clock ran out of control end of 4th quarter. Harlan lost at least 25 seconds because refs didn't put time back on the clock after clock keeper went a little wild. Prob. wouldn't have made a diff, but who knows. I think we can all look forward to another good one, but first things first. I doubt Cumberland and the Burg are gonna lay on down so we can rematch.

:thumb: Right on target! Both teams suffere from the rain, but after thinking about it, it prob. did favor Harlan. In that case "let it rain"!!! Both teams need to refocus to their 1st playoff games, esp. Harlan, who has to play a Jacket team who is rolling and healthy, and our offense needs some real work.

I was impressed by Hunter, but the prob. early was misalignment in the linebacker corps of Harlan. Hats off to the Jumper's though for taking advantage. Once adjustments were made they were shut down.

Harlan's defense stopped a MUCH better offense that the Jumper's D did. According to Coach Cobb, Harlan "whipped" the Jumper's offense after the first 6 minutes. Much of the Jumper offense was moving slow after this game. The Somerset D was able to stop an inept offensive performance by the Dragons, but did not physically dominate, they just played smart D. Harlan's D came up time after time, giving the offense opportunity after opportunity, but the O couldn't step up. The big item put to rest tonight was that Harlan couldn't stop Cole, which they did. But credit where credit's due. To Coach Cobb for a solid game plan, and to an improved Somerset D, that did what they had to to stop a sluggish Harlan offense. Should be another dandy in 2weeks. I don't think there is 21 points difference in these 2 teams. I hate the "wet field" arguement, its football, you play with what you get. One last thing I noticed, nice friendly folks at the field, concessions, tickets, and nice facility. If I gotta come back, (and we gotta) might as well come to the Briar Patch!

I think that bias exists as you go up in class. My team is a class A team, and Region 4 District 7 Class A is well represented on this forum. I would maintain that these conversations are as "important" as any discussions surrounding a 3A or 4A team. Its all good, but sometimes higher "class" team supporters, in thier postings like to compare these apples and oranges, sometimes in a disparaging way. For my part, I don't give a hill of beans who is playing or who wins the 4A championship, and I suppose neither do the 4A supporters care who wins Class A. So its live and let live as far as I'm concerned. I just appreciate the forum which allows an open discussion.

:thumb: Hey Waggle, we've come a long way this season when you have to tell me to calm down. But you are right, I got too carried away and apologias to everyone if I have offended. Lots of pride in these two team's camps, which is good. That being said, I guess this forum is all about opinions, cause ain't none of us on here (except players) going to have a hill of beans of real say, its the boys. Some of the fine folks just have a certain "way" of stating things that gets me going. Go big green!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to read posts before you comment on them. I never compared the two.

I'm not missing a thing, unless you are too.You can preach until Friday. I can preach until Friday. I won't relent, and you won't. Come Friday the boys will decide. Then probably in 2 more weeks, they will decide again. Harlan won't be rolling over for the Jumpers, and like I believe I said to you a few weeks ago, I hope the Jumpers are as over confident as you are.

I SAID, the last time they saw a quality D they lost. I didn't SAY, that our 1A team was of the same level as theirs. Harlan's D is the class of our district, just like Somerset's O is the class of our District. It is fitting that it has come down to these two teams.

Then I'd love to see Middlesboro and Somerset play. They have 3-4 kids that are awful fast. If the jumpers win, they win, but the Dragons are very well conditioned. I've not seen them breathing hard yet, and I still doubt I will. Everyone has their opinion, and the Jumpers and the Dragons will decide it Friday night. The last time the jumpers saw as quality a D as Harlan, they lost.

I just don't think Somerset is 13 points better than Middlesboro and surely don't think their D is as good as Middlesboro. I just love the "stomp the life out" line. I promise you the hardest hits will be by the green team, win or lose. Ask your campers. No one has "wore down" the Harlan D. If the Dragons lose it will not be by being "ran over".

While I certainly hope we are playing in 2 weeks back in Harlan, I certainly want to thank you for being so gracious in your posting. Many folks just don't have that much class when predicting a victory for their team. I believe it will be closer than most think. At any rate, good to know there are some great Jumper fans out there who realize its a game.
