Why did Coach Combs leave? Take another job? Is he still at the school?

I am being told it was narrowed to 3 candidates. Jerry Allen, an assistant on the team now, some coach from Virginia, and another unknown candidate. Does anyone else have any insight?

Nets, all you have said has trememndouse merit.....But the truest example of administrative support is given in one way.....you say they have 6 paid assistants...Does the administration work sincerely with the head coach to place those 6 paid assistants inside of their schools as teachers also? If so, then I will say that Morgan County goes from being a decent job to a tremendous JOB!

Just wanted to give everyone an update on Dayne. I spoke to his best friend in Magoffin County this past weekend at their scrimmage and he informed me that Dayne is now the Asst Director of Football Operations at Northwestern University!! What an awesome promotion to one of the most deserving people i know!

I hear they are interviewing 4 more candidates on Monday. Not sure of any of the names.

Class 2A............................Most of the Big Sandy Teams are in their region. The Pike County Schools, Belfry, Prestonsburg, and Sheldon Clark.

I was reading on another site where this job was open.... Does anyone know of anyone considering applying? Apparently the new principal is pretty set on turning the program around.

Dayne Brown had a great season at St. Cloud High School in St. Cloud, Florida. At mid-season, he was promoted to D-Coordinator and his defense gave up less than 14 points a game for the rest of the season. After the season was over, the head coach at St. Cloud took a job at a large neighboring school, Lake Howell. Dayne was offered the head coaching job there at St. Cloud but turned it down to go to Lake Howell as well as the D Coordinator. Apparently Lake Howell has around 3000 kids and has produced several NFL players. Dayne seems to love it down there. I am glad he is getting the respect he deserves!!

When did Magoffin's coach resign/get fired?

I look for this to happen. UK talked to Coach Sphire before they hired Smith from Bourbon. This would be a good PR mone for UK as they would get another well respected high school coach in Ky.

What is the solution Mach1?

Rumor is we may get several of them over here at Johnson Central if the situation is not fixed in a timely manner.

Do they still have the same coach?

This will be very interesting to see how it is handled. Magoffin County has a very nice group of young kids coming up from the middle school. It would be great to see the right attention paid to this program.

Definitely the most underrated player in the mountains. Had the administration been serious about the program he would be sitting in a nice position right now trying to decide which college to go to. He will still play college ball if he wants to and will have a great career, but had he been on a successful team supported in all avenues, he would have gotten some great exposure. I got to watch him play a couple times last year and once this year and he played with great desire and heart. I loved his aggressiveness.

I saw that hit. It was the 1995 season. It was the hardest hit I have ever seen in HS. The unbelievable thing was that the QB got right up. I also saw this kid play at Magoffin County that same year and the QB took some of the most punishment I have ever seen from a couple of pretty good players at MC. I give that kid my award for toughest player of all time!!!
