This is very true they are all held back and were as big in 8th grade as they are now ,they are also not very quick, they were middle school heros, there have been many of them.
I saw Verst play for the first time this week while we were scouting Mason and Campbell good shooter but not very athletic, not in the same area code as the top sophs.
I think at St. Pat basketball is more for fun now and about everyone getting to play and if they win or, are even competitive it keeps the parents and alumni happy.
St Patrick played hard but what is the fashion statement about head bands everywhere wrist bands ,and the Iverson arm sleeve ,it just does not go along with the conservetive nature of the school. That much individualism is not good for the team concept.
It doesn't matter if you were sitting on the front row that game Schmidt was not the only reason St Henry made it to the state tournament. The other big kid led them in scoring that year so your post about that is pointless. Yes they lost to Mason by 1 point does that give them a state title no. Mason had a tough semi-final game if you remember sitting there. Ballard was beaten soundly in the title game but wasn't a pushover for St. Henry. If you consider them representing the 9th so well what about other teams such as Ryle losing in the first round to a very good Warren Central team or Holmes doing the same last year? Do you only remember Lofton? Come on Aunt Bee use more than one 9th region team to back up your point.
The win over St. Henry after a loss of the big man is a candy and nuts deal. Did Mason have any injuries during that game. Interesting question do the research.
