Sky is not falling and in class A it can happen again ! That is the expectation in FT Mitchell like it or not ! That is the expectation Coach Yeagle set. I have been following this thread all weekend and do not know where to begin but will make a few quick points and observations: 1- VOR has no clue. 2- VOR has no clue. 3- History and Toothpick are dead on. 4- Playing career has nothing to do with coaching ability. There are guys who made it to the NFL that can't read. 5- There has been a drop off at Beechwood the last couple of years and it has zero to do with the talent level or the opponents talent. Kids are soft.I would use another term here but do not want to get the boot. 6-Since 2006 Beechwood has defeated zero teams they were not supposed to beat and never beat NCC and CCH in the same year. IMO these teams are the measuring stick for the program like it or not . 7-VOR has no clue. 8- Class A titles alone will not do. So what needs to be done IMO ? Rash is the guy for the job. He needs to take a long hard look at his staff and his own organization.This not easy to do in life,business or sports.He will need to make painful decisions soon IMO. I have spent time on the sidelines for all of the previous coaching staffs going back to the late 70's and this group does not measure up to the previous staffs IMO. Halftime adjustments and in game adjustments are non-exsistant.They are way too predictable. Number one they have too many coaches or so called coaches. Need to reduce the staff by half at least. Based on the returning talent now is the best time to do this. Its the same old same old. Just go back in the BGP archives and read. I think the majority of the Beechwood faithful are in coach Rash's corner ? It is time for him to take a long hard painful look at his program/structure and make some changes. I have confidence that that will happen. The same old same old is not going to cut it. I just hope for Noels sake the Old Ft. Mitchell mafia does not get there panties in a wad. If that was to happen ? Well lets just say even Vince Lombardi may have been in trouble. The expectations are high at Beechwood. That's a good thing. Now is the time for change.

Carter Burns is the catcher(junior) I. 100% agree with your assessment . Using the word dropped was a poor choice of words on my part. That was a difficult play for any catcher at any level. I must have been standing next to you on that play. In hindsight miller/pitcher may have been able to call him off and make a play?

Beechwood: Nick Hyde started and Alex Miller relieved him in the 2nd inning going the rest of the way.

Nice recap. This was a very good/competitive game. Two good teams/programs ! I would point out that Hyde for Beechwood only lasted 1 2/3rds and gave up 4 runs before being relieved by Alex Miller. Miller pitched the balance of the game and only gave up 2 or 3 hits including the game winner in the bottom of the 7th. The last at bat was a battle (double digit pitches, numerous foul balls including a dropped foul ball by the catcher albeit of major league height) Not sure why but Miller had his two best outings this year against the Raiders. Just a week prior to this matchup he pitched a complete game 3 hitter vs Ryle losing 1-0 in that one. In 12+ innings vs Ryle his line is 5 or 6 hits and 2 earned runs. Again, Excellent game by both. Congrats to Ryle !

Your missing my point. The coaches do not have to directly say anything. I think it happens to a degree at ALL "Football" schools. Large and small. Beechwood and others. Again , I experienced it first hand. The culture at Beechwood has been the same at Beechwood since the mid 70's ( football is king and its cool to play football). Culture is one of the most difficult things to change in humans. It takes time. Miller has 1.5 years at the helm and has about a zero percent chance of being removed and has plenty of supporters. How many times have we seen Coach Rash at BB games ? How many times have we seen Miller at Football games ? That may be an indicator of support ? Just my humble opinion. Also, since 2007. Beechwood has had 55 of 72 wins against NKY D3 teams (.267 win % against everyone else and many of those were against smaller/bad programs from around the state. I can't really remember a signature win in quite some time ? Beat CCH 2x a few years back but that was during the worst year they have had in decades. Sure the record does not indicate success but it takes time to build a program. Ask Bernie Barre. There were plenty of years that Bechwood was not very good in football. Answer me this too.......what is the difference in getting drilled in football or getting drilled in BB. What was the last signature win for Beechwood football ? Z5

Don't kid yourself ! For a coach to come out and demand for there sport would be professional/career suicide at Beechwood. There are other ways to do it. Peer pressure being # 1. Trust me I lived it !

Neither Shumate or Miller moved them up. The administration did ! Moving up was discussed and pushed by multiple former coaches in the past only to be turned down. Beechwood wanted to stay in D3 and only play one time per year . The other teams in D3 were not in favor of this.. There are financial benefits for this move as. I think anyone can figure those out. Comparing the last 2 years at Beechwood to any of the previous 50 is not a fair comparison. Shumate lost games by plenty in the past. Shumate endorsed Miller for the job. There are no obstacles at Beechwood and that statement is very far off base. Every coach at Beechwood knows it is a small school and kids need to be "shared". Coach Rash and everyone else in athletics encourage kids to play other sports and get involved in other activities. That makes me laugh out loud. Sure the head coach is going to do what is politically correct. But there are ways to put pressure on kids to focus on football without coming out and saying it. Been going on at Beechwood for 30 + years. There is no coach on any staff at Beechwood that understands the sharing of players better than Miller. I guess everyone forgot the fact he was player of the year in FOOTBALL (NKY) at Beechwood his senior year in HS and has 5 State title rings as player and a coach. Z5

55-8 For real ? Come on Man ! No wonder The Ashland area has NEVER had a state title in Class A or NEVER won region against a NKY team( not to mention the rest of the state) ! KHSAA needs to flip the format back to the old days...Fairview most likely would not have made it past Bellevue in the 2nd round. There have been multiple years that The NKY A district has swept that region.

My point is he will not be focusing on football year round nor should he. I think if kids want to play all three sports they should and not be pressured into focusing on one sport. That's the beauty of Beechwood. Kids can play all three and still focus on the most important thing too...being a kid. Z5

It's a fact BW has not had a QB in recent years that is a prototypical passer,The freshmen who currently is in place is an outstanding athlete. 3 sport athlete. Most likely will play varsity basketball this year. Most definitely will play varsity baseball. Obviously excels at all 3. As pointed out earlier in this thread or another, its important to put the time and work in year round to develop your skills/timing etc. I do not see this happening with this particular athlete. I will point out; in my estimation it would the the appropriate decision as well. That is the beauty of participating in athletics at Beechwood. You can and should play all sports if you want to. After all in is high school.

The time is now. I'm sure Rash is thinking about this today. I think Rash can do the job. The talent is going to be there. BW needs a complete overhaul of its offense though. Rash needs to quit calling the D-signals and hand off to another. There is too much to manage during a game to be doing that. They will be fine !

I am not knocking JJ at all. He is an excellent football player. Just my opinion of the two. Nussbaum clearly has size and speed to be a DI safety. I'm not sure what position suits JJ best at the next level based on his size and speed? Outside of his tree trunks for legs he may be too small for LB at the DI level. Now with that said I do not agree with it. I would have him all day long and find a position for him. He is a football player ! Remember STATS are not important to me. Eyeballs are! IMO his physical stats may discourage some from him ?

It was obvious to me what was going to happen in the 2nd half. Excellent coaches evaluate and adjust. That's what MF did.Game plans are one thing, the ability to evaluate and adjust is another. They were having limited success on the ground in the 1st half and several missed opportunity's in the passing game, they adjusted and the rest is history. Plain and simply exposing BW biggest weakness. Pass D. Again, MF coaching staff did an excellent job and their collective experience was evident.

JJ was on the better team. Nussbaum is the better player/prospect. Nuss ran him down on a long run after being spotted 15 yards. Nuss is a special athlete ! Good luck to both in the future.

Hats off to Mayfield. I was impressed. It is a pleasure to watch a team like this. They were extremely business like. Never seemed to get rattled early. Very well coached. The coaching staff exploited exactly what was my main concern in the second half. The Beechwood D-backfield, A young bunch that has better days ahead. This was a blowout and could have been much worse. Good luck to Mayfield next week.

I agree on this 100%. Ironically enough I was thinking during the Frankfort game how well and nice of a ball Fieger throws.You can't teach that. You either have it or you don't. The last guys to throw that nice of a ball at BW was Hergott ! And we know he earned a scolly as a QB at UK back in the day. But.....Freshmen are Freshmen and that is a concern. Hopefully he can keep his composer if things do not go his/their way...composer is also difficult to teach. Experience will help a player deal with adversity during the game. That he does not have much of obviously. Z5

I do like stats,rankings and the like. They are entertainment to me. You are consumed by them.As for last year I predicted nothing. The years prior, no predictions either. I base this years opinion based on my eyeballs and I will admit I am guilty of comparing common opponents and opponent trees in HS.Since it has been claimed that BW has only played 1 good opponent in the playoffs ? Well based on my reaseach and knowledge of the teams in NKY. MF has played zero good opponents....look at KCD, They lost to Carroll Co by 10. Carroll Co was drilled by Bellevue,Walton,Owen Co. and Lloyd ! I have never pointed out anything about the "Frosh" others have. I have used the term underclassmen. BW has a talented D-backfield who has improved much since the Cov Cath Game they are basically underclassmen and will most likely win or lose this one. Happy Thanksgiving ! Z5

What you have copied are results of projections/predictions. There is a difference. Since you are the Stat guy...do me a favor and look at MF's last opponent (KCD) is that the same team that lost to Carroll Co by 10 ? And Carroll Co was beaten soundly by the likes of Bellevue, Owen co and Walton. Now I do not like to compare scores and this type of thing but ??? Just sayin.

Really ? In HS football ? I may agree with you when it comes to social, industrial or medical stats. But HS football ? Give me a break !

All 100% meaningless. You can twist/breakdown those #'s anyway you want. They have zero to do with either team on 11-23-12.

Stats mean zero....there have been plenty of good teams on all levels that did not have eye popping stats and won championships. Comparing scores and opponents the same; its a waste of time. In HS and especially at the 1A level its the role or secondary players that make the difference. BW has numerous underclassmen that are maturing rapidly. I think they make the difference in this game.
