  1. Don't forget Bill Richardson did not even make it to the inaugural before his nomination was withdrawn.
  2. With the way Mason has been playing, this is going to be an interesting district.
  3. Not at all. I saw her do or say nothing wrong at any point in the game.
  4. I have found that MSNBC is the only station that carries the daily WH press briefings and I have found those interesting.
  5. Didn't the mayor and governor tell them a week or so before it hit to leave? Seems that is time to make plans. When the flood hit our town, many people walked out. MANY PEOPLE.
  6. So, it is unfair for people to vote for the situation that best fits their school? They should bow to what fits the other schools in their voting and worry about those players more than their own? Your last statement is false. 10th region schools will tell you that Pendleton County brings the best crowds when they are in the tournament. And they are not one of the "big" schools. Brossart brings a very good crowd and they are a "small" school. And thanks for bringing up the ALL A region and state tournaments that are a blind draw too. So, the region does not have seeding. THe state does not have seeding. The ALL A region does not have seeding. The ALL A state does not have seeding. I don't think there is an inseason tournament anywhere in the state that has season. But despite NO OTHER TOURNAMENT having seeding, we want to see the district. That's like having a stimulus plan where you spend millions on the National Endowment for the Arts.
  7. How does the bolded compare to what Jesus did on the cross for you?
  8. Well, here is a real wrench in the works. http://content.usatoday.net/dist/custom/gci/InsidePage.aspx?cId=cincinnati&sParam=34051126.story Couple who led gay marriage fight to divorce BOSTON (AP) — A lesbian couple who led the fight for gay marriage in the state of Massachusetts is filing for divorce. Julie and Hillary Goodridge were among seven gay couples whose lawsuit thrust Massachusetts into the center of a nationwide debate on gay marriage. The couple became the public face of the debate in the state, the first in the U.S. to legalize same-sex marriage. The couple was married on May 17, 2004, the first day same-sex marriages became legal under a court ruling. The couple announced they were separating in 2006. Only Connecticut also allows same-sex marriage, though a handful of other states allow other kinds of partnerships.
  9. Well he did admit to sneaking smokes during the campaign but promised he wouldn't do that in the No SMoking Allowed White House. (Ironically, it was Hillary Clinton that made the WH a no smoking zone. I think it was part of her failed health care plan.)
  10. If it is to make sure than first round upsets are to be outlawed? AT NO OTHER LEVEL, of what is called the greatest HS basketball tournament in the country, is it seeded. WHY change it at the district level? We don't make sure the best 16 teams make the state tournament.
  11. Actually it is the majority of athletic directors who vote. No, I wouldn't because the split of the regional pot can fund athletic projects at those small schools. I was told once that Deming was able to redo the entire audio system in their gym with the split from the 10th region pot that they got after a blind draw. Something they would not have been able to afford without the split. If you go seeding, than the regional tournament split has to go EQUAL to every single team in the region or the rich just keeps getting richer. In the 10th Region, we are talking MINIMUM of $5,000 for the 8 teams that makes it to the regional tournament. At least that is what it was at Mason County. The 37th better pull that same figure at NKY. So, it's not a fair system than with one team getting the home game and the other does not. On the home court advantage, that is not true. Some schools gyms are not large enough to host regionals, so the district tournament is not held there. Deming and Nicholas County does not host the regional tournament because there gym is too small. Pendleton doesn't because the vote was 2-2 on whether they were large enough to host the district. So Harrison County hosts it each year.
  12. You don't expect them to have personal responsibility in this day and age do you?
  13. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0209/18334.html President Barack Obama’s first federal disaster response to ice storms across the heartland netted mixed results for an administration that has pledged after Hurricane Katrina to “never again allow such catastrophic failures in emergency planning and response to occur.” More than 40 people were killed, and millions were left without power across Appalachia and the Ozarks in the wake of severe winter weather that began last week. Kentucky was the hardest hit, with 12 people killed by the storm. A federal emergency was declared in the state Wednesday night as Obama began working the phones and pushing for a rapid response, but help to victims in some areas was slow to come. Vast areas of the state remained without electricity Monday. “It took quite a bit of time” to get additional aid, said Randall Smith, the emergency management director for Grayson County, Ky. “The response in the first four days was very unsatisfactory.” All of Grayson County was without power through the weekend, and by Monday afternoon, only 30 percent of residents had regained electricity. The biggest problem for local officials was getting enough water for people in shelters and caring for local residents with special needs. “I know there is always disorganization, but it has taken some time for these efforts to get moving,” Smith said. Although Obama quickly became involved in the response to last week’s ice storm, many residents across the region still lacked essential services on Monday, five days after the storm struck. Emergency officials said power could be out in some areas of the state for another week or longer. “President Obama was on the phone with the governor of Kentucky within an hour and a half, and the regional response effort was up and running Thursday morning,” FEMA spokesman Kurt Pickering said. “An ice storm is a different animal. With a hurricane, you have days of warning; with a tornado, you have minutes; and with a earthquake, you have none.” Asked if he thought the federal response in some areas was slow, he responded: “Slow is a subjective term.” “I do know that we moved as quickly as possible,” he said.
  14. Now that thread title attracted more than the usual P & R thread reader. There is a Youtube video on the link. http://www.politico.com/blogs/glennthrush/0209/Judd_vs_Palin.html Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has a new foe -- Ashley Judd. Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, with a hand from the actress, has launched a Web-based campaign targeting Palin over her environmental record. In a video premiering on the organization’s new Web site, EyeOnPalin.org, Judd takes aim at Palin for allegedly promoting the aerial killing of wolves in Alaska, and goes so far as to accuse Palin of proposing bounties for severed forelegs of killed wolves. “It is time to stop Sarah Palin and stop this senseless savagery,” Judd says in the ad. It’s not the first time Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, a progressive environmental organization, has taken aim at Palin over the aerial killings. During the presidential campaign, Defenders launched a national television ad campaign focused on the topic. In a statement announcing the launch of the anti-Palin campaign, Judd says she is “outraged by Sarah Palin's promotion of this cruel, unscientific and senseless practice which has no place in modern America.” “Because she is apparently determined to continue and expand this horrific program, I am grateful that Defenders will aggressively fight to stop her. I am proud to be a part of that effort,” Judd says.
  15. That is not from going to the dentist but rather from being a Florida Gator fan

  17. If you want them to earn their way, loser of district championship stays home and either Holmes or Covcath shouldn't make the regional tournament.
  18. For fans maybe. Not for coaches. It prepares your game plan when you get in postseason play.
  19. So, who decides who gets the home court advantage in your play once method?
  20. I say do the districts the same way the state tournament is done. Blind draw. If that is good enough for what many on here say "Best HS basketball tournament in the country" than it is good enough for the districts.
  21. That is not fair. Meeks and Jasper were hurt for most, if not all, of the season. Add both of them healthy to last year's team and it is a big difference in my opinion.
  22. So, is it Tubby's fault that the starting point guard on this year's team seems to have been run off by how he was handled last year? It is no coincidence that the EXACT weakness of this team is the spot that Jasper would have been filling.
  23. There is a Christian parenting program I taught at church and the first chapter was summed up with this line........ You will NEVER EVER be a better parent than you are a spouse to your child's mother or father. Meaning, as you said, the best thing you can do for your child is to be a great spouse and have your child raised with a mother and a father.
  24. Let me add that we are told to love our wife like Christ loved the Church. Jesus was crucified for the church. He took a horrible beating where his hair in his beard was plucked from his face. He was whipped and flogged and beaten where most men would have died. AND THEN he was crucified. He hung on the cross struggling to breath because of His LOVE for us. And we are called upon to love our wives like that. When a husband is looking to divorce his wife, I would ask them to think, have you sacrificed for her like Christ did the Church when He was crucified. I have not came close to it.
  25. Have you trained either to hunt and destroy squirrels?
