  1. You really think that a person could become President or Speaker of the House and be dumb???? Now they might not be Einsteins but when I think dumb, I think dumb.
  2. Why? If a school was not involved in either the windstorm or the ice/snow storm, why should they get days?
  3. One spot that I think Tubby outshines BCG is preparation for an opponent. Cameron Mills would not get to play for Billy G because of his lack of being able to play M2M defense. Last night, Billy G puts Slone, whom I believe is a good to great outside shooter, into the game. Somehow he ends up guarding the point guard???????????????? And beaten each and every time. His defensive philosophy does not allow him to have a great shooter but weak defender on the floor. In zones you cand do some things to hide players that you cannot do in M2M especially when you have them extend the defense to midcourt/3/4's court with on ball pressure and no trapping.
  4. I won't disagree with you on the bolded but not the focus of this thread. Great thread topic though if you want to start it.
  5. And has had some long winning streaks broken too.
  6. I disagree with 99% of what she says and does but I think the bolded is unfair in the same way that W was cast in that light. No way you can get to that level and do the things that you have to do and not be bright. No way and I think it is unfair to call our leaders not very bright.
  7. Eric Thornsbury, Gary Wilson, Bart Lenox were always my top 3 when I was rating officials. Got to also throw some love out to Kevin Letcher and Brian Wallingford. For the comment on going outside of the BBA, why would you go and get referees that are worse than what you have. BBA is the best officials organization in the state.
  8. So is he just not allowed to shoot it? Cause they pass up a lot of shots around the free throw line.
  9. The Enquirer has a better story on the bill. I bolded a part to point out to the posters that won't read the story and then make some dumb comment about giving the teachers more time off. http://nky.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20090204/NEWS0103/902040360 FRANKFORT - A Western Kentucky legislator plans to file a bill this week that would waive up to 10 missed school days in districts affected by the recent ice storm and last fall's windstorm. State Rep. Mike Cherry, D-Princeton, said his bill would apply only to this school year and only in areas where a disaster was officially declared. An emergency because of the ice storm has been declared in 95 of 120 counties. The bill, however, would give the Department of Education the discretion to apply the waiver to districts in areas where disaster declarations were not granted. "We don't want to push the school year abnormally forward into June," said Cherry, whose district was hit hard by the storm. House Speaker Greg Stumbo, D-Prestonsburg, said he supports giving schools some relief. State law requires students to attend 177 six-hour days of class each academic year. Under state policy, districts that miss fewer than 20 days must make up the missed days or add minutes to each school day. Some superintendents had asked Gov. Steve Beshear to waive the days, but he has said he does not have that authority. Beshear spokesman Jay Blanton said Tuesday that the governor would have to see details of the legislation before deciding whether to support it. Jefferson County Public Schools Superintendent Sheldon Berman has drafted a letter to the governor advocating the waiver, but is waiting to consult with the school board on Monday before sending it, said spokesman Marty Bell. Bell said, however, that a waiver would relieve some of the pressure on the district's budget, already taxed by overtime paid during the ice storm. School districts likely wouldn't save money on teacher pay because Cherry's bill is expected to call for teachers to work those days doing lesson planning or other professional development. Republican Rep. Ron Crimm, of Louisville, who also plans to file a bill to waive the missed days, said he is concerned about the lost time during the summer months for school renovation, maintenance and construction projects. Kentucky's 177 instructional days is below the national average of 180 days, Gross said. Cherry's bill would take many districts down to 167 days.
  10. http://www.kentucky.com/211/story/682892.html FRANKFORT — A Western Kentucky lawmaker plans to file a bill in coming days that would waive up to 10 missed school days in districts hard-hit by last week's winter ice storm. State Rep. Mike Cherry, whose district was hammered by the storm, said he plans to file the legislation as early as Wednesday. Cherry, D-Princeton, said schools in the 95 counties which have declared a state of emergency would not have to reschedule up to 10 days that were missed because of the storm. The Kentucky Department of Education would also be allowed to give the 10-day waiver to school districts in neighboring counties that did not declare states of emergency. State law requires schools to provide students with 177 instructional days. The 10-day waiver would also apply to schools that had to cancel classes when the remnants of Hurricane Ike ripped down power lines around the Louisville area in September, Cherry said.
  11. Depends on whether he is coached to do as you say or to do as he is doing.
  12. Your bears need to step it up and quit turning it over so much or they might be sorely disappointed depending on the draw.
  13. I agree. No way is Patterson ready to play at the NBA level till he can hit a jump shot from the FT line. He shoots 80% from the charity stripe, you would think he should be able to hit a jumper. Many of the shots last night seemed to have been passed up. It sure seemed like they have been coached to not take many of the shots that were passed up.
  14. I would assume that the A&M schedule that Billy G inherited was much easier than the Uk schedule. THat has to be factored in if you are going to compare the two jobs he had done. Also, he had one of the best point guards in the country. AND PG is the MOST IMPORTANT position on the floor. THey can make a coach look like a genius when they are good. And like a fool when they are bad.
  15. Why sudden death for only a blind draw? Why not only winner advances for districts?
  16. Tell that to my senior year when we won district and GRC with Keith Jordan was #1 in the state and was upset in the district finals and we drew them in the first round. Sure didn't seem to be seeded when we draw the #1 team in the state. If this is about fair, then they should not have even made the region tournament. How fair is it that a district loser could be the state champion?
  17. How many times has the two best teams in the state ended up in the same brackets of the state tournament? Many.
  18. Without seeding at the regional level and state level, the two best teams and sometimes the 3 or 4 best teams are on the same bracket at the state level. You calling them a joke too?
  19. Well, they play like something is going on. Miller drove the lane and had a 3 footer and passed it up. Down 13 with 3 minutes left and there was minimal to no trapping, pressing, etc.
  20. Add Rondo and Morris too if they had not left early. Add Jasper and that is a nice 6 players.
  21. Might be a MSer, freshmen, sophomore that needs playing time to continue develop their game. Maybe they made their way through MS playing post and the other kids have caught up with them physical wise and they play a perimeter position on JV and working on their game outside the paint at that level.
  22. I have read many posts say wait till Billy G gets a roster of his players. Meeks jumps pro and the roster will be mainly his players next season. I don't see them doing better without Meeks as they are doing now.
  23. Said today it was in the 80's on inauguration day. DOwn to mid to low 60's in poll above.
