Scooterbob - I think you misunderstand my position on Mayo. I'm neither a "basher" nor a "devoted fan". I consider myself a fan, from the standpoint of admiring his abilities. I also recognize that as he has gone through his relatively short life, he has been catered to by a group of people that see him as nothing more than a meal ticket. At this point, it is a miracle that he doesn't treat everyone like mud on his shoe, considering that his "handlers" act as they do. All that said, he is old enough to take responsibility for his actions - whether those actions are good or bad. This is true for EVERY 18 year old in this country, and I consider Mayo no different in that regard - his basketball abilities notwithstanding. I'm all for Mayo, and I wish him the best. I hope that he goes to the NBA and has a long career. I bear him no grudge whatsoever. He is now past the point of being able to lay any shortcomings at the feet of his "posse", and I look forward to the day that he leaves them behind. Frances

And there is another eight letter word that describess the attitude of a few toward him - IDOLATRY. Personally, I think that it's obvious that in terms of his ability to play basketball, he is in an extreme minority of athletes that combined great athleticism with an incredible skill set. He will reap the rewards that come with that, in terms of financial success in professional basketball. On the other hand, the point that is being made about him no longer being a "kid" is legitimate. At the age of 18, we are responsible for our own actions - whether they show us in a good light or a bad light. Frances

Good question, LRCW. I doubt that he'll try to, though. He knows perfectly well that he is there to get an education, and football at that level will take plenty of his non classroom time. Frances

I agree, FBALL. Georgetown is doing an excellent job of getting kids from inside the state (especially our end of the state) that will, over time, make a big difference in their level of football. Excellent job of recruiting by the Tiger staff. Frances

I just got the news (from an EXTREMELY reliable source) that Drew McDavid (WR - Ashland) has decided to play at Georgetown. Drew will be able to play alongside other athletes from the eastern end of the state, such as Josh Gross from Russell. Congratulations to Drew, and his family. Georgetown picks up another excellent kid with a great work ethic. Frances

I didn't even get to listen to the game on the internet. I hope the game was played cleanly, and none of the kids got "knicked or dinged up". Anyone got any stats? I have to say that I really appreciate the Raceland fans. You guys are always a class act. I watched you during the football season, and when you were knocked out of the playoffs, you were the first ones online, congratulating the opponents. Frances

I agree, BRJB, that HHS struggled offensively. Truth be told, Scott County's defense had quite a bit to do with that - no doubt. I also agree with you on the rematch. HHS will (most assuredly) not be taking Scott County lightly in the next one. Frances

That would depend. If you are driving the bus, it's between 2 and 2 1/2 hours. If you are riding the bus, it's no drive at all ... Frances
