I think you are exactly right, Grayeagle. If the leaders of either of these teams decide that Friday night is worth fighting for, that team will play well. Both of these teams need to have someone step up and play to the level of their abilities. Both coaching staffs will leave no stone unturned, trying to give the players the best chance they can of winning. It really is up to the kids now. Frances

A good question, FBALL. Usually, by this point in the season, the coaching staff has a pretty good grip on which combination of players is going to give them the best chance to win. It might be some combination of injuries, attitudes, and work ethic. It might also be a case of simply trying to reward kids that are working hard in practice with giving them an opportunity. Only the men on the sidelines can honestly answer that question. Then again, we are talking about 16 - 18 year old young men, and we all know just how big a challenge it is to keep them focused on anything other than 16 -18 year old teenaged girls. :walk: Frances

I was only pointing out that the idea of getting that many shots off in one game is going to be tough to do - much less average that for a season. I think the ranking is pretty solid, but I would say that Rose Hill should be in the #4 slot to start the year. As Cubster has pointed out, they might well move up from there. Frances

Truth be told, whoever wins this game is going to have play the game of their lives, if they are going to beat Johnson Central next week. I realize that Boyd County pulled off one of the great upsets in playoff history a couple of seasons ago, when (as a four seed) they went to Log Mountain and beat Bell County, but Johnson Central looks like a prohibitive favorite for at least the next two weeks. I think it was definitely a combination of both. Evans is doing a good job at Boyd, and Ashland did not play with a lot of heart in this game. Last night was the first time I got to see Ashland this season, and I was surprised at how little emotion they showed. They could not have beaten Russell or Belfry earlier this season playing like that, so I know that they are capable of playing with intensity. If they are going to get past Mason County this weekend, they will have to get some fire back in their bellies. Frances

Just an observation, but after watching you post in virtually every Ashland thread ever posted on this board, it seems like deep down inside, you are really insecure, and truly envious of the Tomcat program. It just isn't healthy to harbor such feelings. I watch so many posters from Russell that take great pride in what they have done over the last 30 years, and can still be happy for the other programs in the area. The fact that you absolutely MUST take every opportunity to try to attack Ashland is really pretty revealing. Frances

LOL - his quickness made him almost impossible to defend (at least, not by anyone in a wheelchair).
