Scooterbob - I congratulated Rose Hill on their 7th grade football victory. I was sincere, even though I know several of the kids on the Verity team. Now, we all know that you love to stir the pot, but I have to ask you - other than trying to get under someone's skin, exactly what do you think the significance of that win truly is? Frances

I don't know exactly what criteria we would need, but I can assure you that no one with a brain would consider using the Cantrall ratings for anything other than wiping their backsides. After all these years (and God only knows, there have been a lot of them), I think Dave Cantrall must use some combination of dart board, spinning wheel, blindfold, and and dice to come up with those ratings. I'm not certain, but I'd guess that he also formulates his ratings in a cave on an island off the southern coast of France, far away from any source of scoreboard listing weekly outcomes of games in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. No offense to Dave Cantrall, of course.... Frances

Okay. I get it now. Blunt is okay - since you're "blunt". Sarcastic is bad, since I'm sarcastic. Then let me take this opportunity to be blunt. I don't really care if you appreciate the sarcasm. If Devilologist makes wild predictions, he needs to be prepared to be called on them. Sometimes, that "call" will be phrased as sarcasm. How was that for blunt? Frances

After predicting a 48-0 Russell victory, he's probably going to be away for a while. Then again, I'm sure he'll be back online as soon as it looks like we've all forgotten about this one. Probably sometime in basketball season, we'll get to hear from him again. Frances

Not to worry, Stick1. We understand that the majority of fans at any school usually root for their team, but do it in an understated manner. Every school also has a couple of fans that just need a little more "seasoning" before they learn to repect other teams. I don't think anyone from Ashland is lumping all Lawrence County people into one group, just because someone goes too far with it. FBALL - I went back to the "prediction" thread earlier this evening, and I have to say that you were one of those that was cautioning Russell not to overlook Ashland, and that the game was no "lock" for a win. Thanks, Play 2 Win. I think Russell has about 7 or 8 weeks now, in which to iron out the bugs. I'm guessing that come playoff time, Ivan will have them clicking on all cylinders. At the risk of making a huge understatement, he seems to have a knack for working out the kinks. Frances

My attendance at post season football games is dictated by my work schedule. If I can't make it, can I just grab a steak at a nice restaurant, and send you the bill? If Ashland isn't playing on the same evening, I'd be tickled to death to watch that game. Then again, if you're paying for the gas and the ticket, the bill will be higher than you think. I have to drive 3 hours to get to US 23.... :cry: Frances

CFJ - I'll go out on a limb and say that if Russell and Belfry meet in the playoffs, it'll be well worth the price of admission. Don't take this the wrong way, though - if it happens, I'll be pulling for the Devils. Frances

Absolutely a great post, Oldrambler. Like you, I think Clark showed why he deserves consideration as Mr. Football. The entire Ashland defense keying on him all night long, and he still hangs up some serious numbers. As I said in the opening post, Matt Thomas has now shown that he has arrived as a running back as well. Frances
