Hey, good to see you on the forum again, yep, the season is just around the corner now. Do you know what time the scrimmage against Christian County on Aug 17th is?

I don't see how they can be heads over a Team like Mayfield, we will have a pretty nice running back tandem ourselves, it actually looks like a triple threat in Trevarthen, Noonan and Murrell. I just think its too early to be saying that they are "heads over the rest". I too am amazed at that O-line.

He didn't want to play for UofL or UK? Was he maybe worried of his playing time?

I did not know that it is 2 weeks instead of one, thanks for that info. I guess the real answer to my problem is that the kids need to be more motivated to strengthen and condition on their own time instead of as a team. I like the season the way it is, I would argue that pushing the schedule back a week isn't helping anything with the way its going to collide with basketball. I think that this year-round games is too much, like in basketball, you just simply can't do it with football, it would kill those kids bodies.

I don't know, I was thinking more like 2 months leading up to the beginning of the season, thats what we used to get for basketball, it was good for conditioning. And maybe 2-4 weeks in the spring, I don't know, just more than they currently get. Its tough on these smaller schools cause a month doesn't seem to be enough for em, they seem out of shape to me.

I got a question. Why does the KHSAA only allow such a short time for HS football teams in KY to practice? They get 1 week in spring, not sure what good that is for and then they get to practice as a team for about a month before the season starts. I know that baseball and basketball teams are getting to play year round now. I understand that year round football would be bad on kids but I would think they would allow teams to practice a little longer than they currently are. Any ideas?

Looks like Beechwood is in the same boat as Mayfield now, I didn't know what their district looked like before. I would watch Bishop Brossart, they seem to be an up and coming team to me.

Thats what I was thinking, I heard some folks saying they absolutely don't want Tilghman to get included in that but I could see the newly consolidated school pulling the good athletes away from PT.

I caught the tail-end conversation on a local radio channel in Paducah this morning talking about consolidating the schools in McCracken county? Is there any truth to this? Are they just talking about the county or the county and city? What kind of athletic situations could this create?

1) Mayfield 2) Beechwood 3) Frankfort 4) Lou.Holy Cross 5) LCA 6) Pikeville 7) Crittenden Co 8) Raceland 9) Hazard 10) Paris I give Mayfield the edge this year if the QB position works out for em, otherwise, I give it to Beechwood. But I think that Beechwood has a tougher playoff road ahead of em leading up to a long trip to Mayfield for the semis, so that edge belongs to Mayfield this year as well.

I am glad to hear about this up there. It would seem that you could only go so far spending $20k a pop to play a game.

Its my understanding that anybody can put anything in wikipedia, so I wouldn't depend on it as a reliable source of information.

The whole public/private debate has been very interesting discussion to me and what has seemed the whole state of KY. I too don't really think we have enough private schools here to warrant another division or whatever. Really, in KY HS football, the whole debate revolves around a couple of Louisville schools cause of their recent domination. I would hate to see a situation like what is happening in TN with the Brentwood legal ordeal myself. I think we are going about it correctly here in KY, not really rushing into anything and trying to solve the issues my making special rules, hopefully nothing drastic so we can see how that works.

I have a question, Westsider mentioned that McCallie is in the highest class in TN's private division. We are going through a pretty rough time here in KY with the public/private debates ourselves. I was wondering how that is working out in TN? Has having two different championships, one for private and one for public been a good thing or a bad thing in your eyes BlueMom? I am just interested in your thoughts, thanks.

I am pretty sure the game is going to be played in Mayfield, KY at War Memorial stadium since it was at Marshall last year. I want to personally welcome you to Mayfield and hope your trip up here is a safe and enjoyable one. By the way, can you give us any information about the McCallie team? Did you guys compete in your state championship last year? What class are you?

Right now about all I know about Marshall is that they have one of the premier senior backs in Western KY in Alan Williams. Marshall has a new coach this year so I guess the verdict is still out on em but I would think they are going to keep the same defense they used last year but I heard the new coach is going to be changing up some stuff offensively.
