The Dream Schedule

Recommended Posts

Alright, here's the premise. Imagine you could travel to see any game featuring a state high school football team each week. Taking each week of the regular season, choose the ONE game you would attend. THE CATCH IS, THE TEAM YOU SUPPORT (if any) CANNOT BE PLAYING.

Team I support= Belfry

Week 1 Lou. Holy Cross vs. Pikeville, nice matchup between 1A Title Contenders

Week 2 Bowling Green vs. Trinity, Two elite traditions.

Week 3 Boyle County vs. Danville, Is Title Town a thing of the past?

Week 4 Cincy St. X vs. Trinity, The class of Kentucky vs. a Top 10 Nationally ranked GCL team.

Week 5 CovCath vs. Highlands, aside from Trinity/X,, it's the state's biggest rivalry

Week 6 Trinity vs. Lou. St. X, the one can't miss game in Kentucky.

Week 7 Bardstown vs. Danville, Arguably the top 2 teams in 1A, both with long standing traditions, with district title implications.

Week 8 LCA vs. Breathitt, I'll be honest the Elder vs. CovCath would be awesome but I wanna mix it up a bit and see two teams who have never met square off.

Week 9 Russell vs. Mason County, if I can't watch my team play, I might as well see who they would have to face in the regional championship game.

Week 10 Ashland vs. Johnson Central, this rivalry is quickly turning interesting and there is NO love lost between the two.

Week 11 NewCath vs. Beechwood, the best small school rivalry in the state

Cool thread. I'm going in a bit of a different direction though and staying in the mountains each week. For me nothing beats football in the mountains on a Friday night. Right now I'm trying to decide where to go on the Fri. night before Pikeville's PC Bowl game. Corbin/Belfry is the best game, but I can tape it and watch when I get home. Might go to Ashland/Raceland or Letcher Central/Hazard. Don't have time to look at the rest of the schedule, I'll post mine for the whole year later...

Nice thread EKU :thumb: I will try to make my list without seeing the same team twice, should be fun.

One question though, if I am read the new alignment right, wouldn't that would still be the semifinals if we get to match up with Russell this fall? I think our district would play Somerset's district in the regionals.

Team I support= Mayfield

Week 1- Warren Central vs. Henry Clay (seems like two really athletic, continuously successful teams)

Week 2- Marshall Co. vs. Hopkinsville (usually always a good matchup...marshall relies on fundamentals and technique....hoptown relies on athletic ability)

Week 3- Lex Cath vs. St. X (I haven't seen either team play, ever)

Week 4- Bell Co. vs. Rockcastle Co. (I hear this one can get pretty nasty)

Week 5- Bowling Green vs. Warren Central (i think year in and year out, this is always a competitive, down-to-the-wire game)

Week 6- Pikeville vs. Belfry (well, being a Mayfield fan, i want to get a good look at 1A Pikeville......and i hear Belfry is kinda good)

Week 7- Hopkinsville vs. Mercer Co. (seems like a dead even matchup to me)

Week 8- Beechwood vs. Cov. Holy Cross (this game is called "scout the beechies")

Week 9- Owensboro Cath. vs. Ft. Campbell (always a great game.....O cath seems to squeak this one out every year)

Week 10- Danville vs. Frankfort (to watch a great game, and do a little scouting on Frankfort)

Week 11- Beechwood vs. NCC (i wanna watch B-wood play AT LEAST twice before the playoffs to get a good feel for them)

St. X plays Trinity. Trinity may be in trouble. This is the sr. year for St. X's "Golden generation".

Good question...time to investigate.....

(10 minutes later)

If I read it correctly the KHSAA playoff format for 2007 says it is D5 vs. D8, meaning Belfry's District vs. the Somerset district... good call!

Additionally it looks as if Belfry being R4 D-8, would (assuming they are the #1 seed) host the district championship, travel in the regional finals, then host the state semi-finals (because they will actually be Region 3 team in 07).... that's odd.

Sorry to sidetrack everyone.
