I think you are right about this being "The Game" this week. I don't see either team getting "spanked" however. Which ever team wins I think will be the team that makes the fewest mistakes in a very tight game.

I don't think that is huge surprise. Mason County has been overlooked much of the year. Belfry at #2 and Russell at #5 may be a little surprising. IMO Belfry has to be ranked #1 at this point and #5 is a little low for Russell as well. But I think I kind of like the underdog roll for a change. It does add some incentive.

For SK to win I think they will have to run the ball better. They didn't run the ball very well against Russell but it didn't matter because nobody could cover Ponzer in man to man defense. I know Campbell Co is supposed to be very strong up front and at Linebacker. If they can get pressure and keep a safety back to help on the deep ball I think they win.

There you have it.

West Carter has a pretty decent offense. I think they take care of business and score just enough to outduel Fleming.

I believe coach Jones has the DBs. It wasn't like they were never in position last friday either. There were times they were there but never found the ball. I think the coaching staff may have been a little spoiled the last few years with the kids that were in the secondary. First you had Gross who took away half of the field by himself. Then the last couple of years I don't think there was a better pair of safeties in the state than Clark and Sizemore. This year there is talent but they are relatively unexperienced. This was a good learning experience for that group.

I don't see where anyone belittled any player.

Russell is very physical but has given up the big play via the pass. I hope you are right though. After going to the Russell/SK game on Friday and going to the UK/LSU game on Saturday, I'm not sure if I can take many more games like those.

I agree about the humor of that post. But I think this will be a close game throughout.

The game is at Mason County. Russell and Mason County were in the same district from 1991-2002. Russell leads the all time series 11-2. The last time they played was the region final in 2002 at Putnam stadium. It was played there because the field at Henry R. Evans was in such bad shape from the 1st two playoff games that year that were played in the rain. Ashland allowed Russell to use the field since Russell was supposed to be at home and the Tomcats were beaten out of the playoffs the previous week.

Lewis is nowhere close to 6'. About 5'9' . This years secondary has some size and they are athletic. What they lack is the experiece and the field awareness that last years group had. Clark and Sizmore had great instincts on where to be and how to play the ball. Lewis and Frazier both were seniors and had plenty of varsity experience as well. You could gamble more with that group. This year they are learning on the fly but I do like their potential and their athleticism. I think the world of coach Morris. I think he is one of the best defensive coaches around. Last week was a test. For the players and the coaches. I think they will learn alot from it and make the adjustments that need to be made. I also think the world of coach McGlone. He has become more of a gambler himself. There are always things that you can question but I'd bet my house nobody is as critical of coach McGlone as he is of himself. One of the things I think people underestimate about him is his ability to make adjustments. It is a strength of his I believe. They will not be drastic changes but the man knows his football and how to get players in the right places. I think this team will is just fine.

There were mistakes by alot of people. Players and coaches alike. Blaming one person or one call is futile. Dropped passes, Silly penalties, wrong decisions..... It all happened, as it does in every game. There is plenty of blame to go around and alot of right now needs to go to some of the Russell fans. There is nothing wrong with second guessing but to act like a loss, as tough to swallow as this one was, to a good 6A team is the end of the world is just ignorant. If anything it is motivation for the playeres and coaches to become better as a team. Something they are very capable of. Actually I am encouraged and like Russell's chances the rest of the way. Also don't forget that there were two teams out there and SK played with heart and never gave up. They earned that victory in a hard hitting and very entertaining football game.

I agree with it. The big goofs to me were the onside kick and the penalty on the final play.

A Mason Co fan brought up the Boone Co win against SK and considering that Boone beat SK by more points than they beat Mason Co..... Kind of figure thats where it was going.

Should be another great game. Whoever wins I don't think it will be by more than a TD either way. I'm really looking forward to going to Maysville again. Its a good competitive rivalry between these two teams. I would like to see Russell go to cover 2 more when teams spread them out. You don't have Clark, Sizemore, Lewis and Frazier back there to make plays on the ball. You do have some talent in the secondary but they raw and need help. Russell is very good against the run but they shore up against the deep pass.

I can say but your a long way from it.
