So do you think 8 state champions, 8 teams with kids to have good memories for the rest of their life would be better? Just how much more do we have to water down the playoffs to make everyone happy. Again its always going to be the usual suspects no matter how many classes we have.

The negative impact is that no matter how many classes you have the same old programs will be in PJS every year. St. X, Trinity, Highlands, Belfry, NCC and Beechwood will always be considered favorites and more than likely make their way to the carpet.

It could be a low scoring game next friday in the 3A championship then.

I would say at this point he is on that roller coaster of a road called Rt. 80 thinking of the Bobcats chances next year.

I think Central will hold on for the win but yes, I do think Belfry should be the favorite no matter which team comes out of the west. Now how big a favorite is hard to say.

No doubt some will pick Central(if they beat Tilghman) because of the schedule but I still feel Belfry is probably a little better than the 2nd best team in 3A.

Well it could have been 21-0 without the fumble by Elkins with the Pirates driving in the 1st Quarter. This one is far from over. Breathitt has a very dangerous offense and if they get it rolling watch out.

And Russell's defense was just dominate!!! Both factors equaled a bad night for the Pirates.

Belfry just keeps impressing me as the weeks go along. Before the year if someone had told me that we would be 13-0 and region champions I couldnt have believed it. I thought our chances against Corbin in the season opener were about 50-50 and they proved me wrong with an unreal defensive effort. Then against Pikeville and Sheldon Clark I was pleasantly surprised again. The one game where I really started to believe that this team had every component to win the 3A title was against Johnson Central. Complete domination against a deeper, quicker and supposedly stronger team. With that being said I would be utterly shocked to see the Pirates come out and lay an egg tomorrow night. They played some very athletic, strong and well coached teams to this point and none have seemed to be able to crack the shell of the Pirates. Believe me, Breathitt Co. always scares me and I have to admit I was glad we didnt have to face them in '03 and '04 because it seems they always find a way to give us a heck of a game. Again Im anxious and to a point somewhat scared but I believe the Pirates will find a way to once again "pleasantly surprise" me with the outcome of this game.

Being ready to defend is something Belfry has had all year. Breathitt's passing game had better be more than just "fine" along with the total package or this one could get ugly.

Congrats Pirates. This game was never in question. The defense again proved that they will be the deciding factor in a run at a state title.

Sometimes I wish Coach Haywood wasnt such a classy guy. I say put the starting offense back in and lets get this game over. I guess the Briarjumpers are leaving all starters in and trying to make a game of it.
