I wish Tilghman could have pulled it out so two Paducah area teams would be playing in the pizza box. The effort must have been there because I thought Central would win by more.

Just got back from the game. I can't put into words how exuberant I am right now. :dancingpa I'll give my thoughts a little later but I don't want to take away from the hell of a game Warren East played this evening. Congrats on a great year and I hate that either team had to lose tonight.

This semifinals affair should be one of the biggest high school football games in Kentucky. I'm already jacked and it's only Monday! Word of advice, GET THERE EARLY!!! Any Lone Oak alum within a 100 mile radius will be in attendance along with every casual football fan. That's on top of nearly every pupil in the student body and parents too. Lone Oak will have to play better defensively, especially in the secondary. They have trouble when teams flood one side of the field for some reason. They'll also have to maintain their defensive assignments better and not over pursue the play action pass. Warren East's speed will take advantage of any miscues times 10 with their speed. They'll also have to tackle better as they had too many arm tackles that were broken by North Bullitt last week. Usually they're a solid tackling group so they'll have to rely back to sound fundamentals this week. I'd like to see Lone Oak try to go deep once or twice just to stretch the field a little more. At least keep Warren East's defense guessing and not allow them to sit on the short stuff. Also, the kicking game, especially extra points, could be a difference in this game. Lone Oak's Jack Kortz missed two last week but so did Warren East's Albert Bush. Finally, what's up with coach Ben Bruni for throwing the trophy after winning district? Also, the quarterback Jordan Ellis threw the trophy after winning their region last week. I know it's a use for motivation but do either of these teams need motivation after their not so glorious past?

Seriously? A junior varsity schedule? That's a bit of a stretch now. Give me Corey Robinson over your pick any day. At least Robinson's line and skill players aren't handpicked!

I think it should be without a doubt Corey Robinson, no matter what he does from here on out. 1.) He led them to their first regional title ever in their 39 year history of playing football at that school! 2.) He led them to their first district title since 1982. 3.) He led them to a final four birth and chance to play in the state championship game at a school that was the laughing stock of football in western Kentucky. 4.) He has shattered the single season Kentucky record for most touchdown passes in a season. 5.) He has broken the national record for most touchdown passes in a season. On top of those accolades he's still in the hunt and more than likely will break a few more records before it's all said and done.

That was pretty bad! I just think it was a natural reaction to catch the ball but a referee should know better. The phantom pass interference against Robinson was worse though in my opinion.

Some more thoughts on this game. After getting up 19-0 North Bullitt seemed to get cocky and over-confident in my opinion. Their fans, who were about as country as it gets, were chirping and the players were taunting, especially #2. After the groggy start, the Purple Flash outscored them 55-14! I found it ironic that Lone Oak's first 1st down of the game came in the second quarter on a running play by Matt Starks. He later had a knee to knee collision and hopefully he'll be back in action next week against Warren East. A huge play in the first half came when Travis Hickman dropped a wide open pass yet North Bullitt's Travis Ridley committed a late hit and kept the drive alive. In the second half, Travis Hickman took a vicious hit yet somehow managed to stay on his feet, not be denied, and scooted into the endzone. That and his interception return were absolutely huge in Lone Oak's first ever regional championship! Then North Bullitt turned into a complete meltdown mode and showed little class. Numerous unsportsman like flags and personal fouls at the end of the game turned a good game a little sour. Having said that, I think Cissell was the real deal and North Bullitt had an excellent game plan going into this tilt. Here are some photos I took:

Great adjustments made on both sides of the ball. Defense gave up only 6 second half points and finally wore those big boys down from North Bullitt. I can't believe Lone Oak is in the final 4! :banana:

Thanks for the post. I watched the highlight videos of Cissell and Reynolds on the North Bullitt Football Eagles football website (great website by the way) and really noticed Reynolds tenacity on defense. Robinson and crew will have to be extra cautious of his presence on the field. I also noticed on their website roster that they feature some big boys on the line. That worries me a little too. Lone Oak has fared pretty good against the run and even though they've been prone to give up some big plays through the air this season, their tackling fundamentals are pretty solid. Being an alumnus from Lone Oak, expect a huge crowd at Flash Field because this is foreign territory for Lone Oak football. The entire community, former alums, and the current students/parents are extremely excited and proud of the Purple Flash this season.

mmmmmm......Patti's!! There's no shortage of excellent restaurants in the Paducah area. If any of the fine folks travelling down from Shepherdsville need any directions or suggestions don't hesitate to ask.

I know absolutely nothing about North Bullitt except a little short snippet of them I saw on a Louisville news station on a business trip. I hear they have a great tailback and I suspect their defense is pretty solid also. Can anyone else shed some light on North Bullitt? With Thanksgiving weekend coming up, I suspect all of the Lone Oak alums will be in attendance just to watch this team and Robinson.

If you turn right onto US-68 (there's actually a Y), you would turn left onto High School Road. That would put you closer to the stadium and is the more conventional route.

Corey Robinson throws for seven touchdown passes and rushed for another touchdown. He also accumulated over 500 + yards through the air. Game was 49-6 at one point in the third quarter before Calloway County tacked on some meaningless scores to make the score look closer. Lone Oak wins their first football district title in school's history. I took some pictures and will upload them sometime this evening.
