  1. http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071013/SPORTS05/710130551 Fern Creek played without sophomore quarterback Bryan Hynes for the entire game and right tackle Ryan Benzick (6 feet 5, 325 pounds) for the first half ... Things were so bad for the Tigers that Higgins made them do pushups on the sideline during a timeout with 9:20 left in the second quarter. "If I could have run them around the football field, I would have done that," said Higgins, whose team will face Male next week to decide the 6-A, District Four title. "They had quit because we were down 28-7 and dropped their heads on the sideline. I refuse to let them do that."
  2. Now that would be funny.
  3. Even the freshmen Tigers could play in this one. Glaser can name the score.
  4. That's cool! Will the Butler players have a chance to shower at Saint Xavier so they can watch the varsity?
  5. If it is all about this year, great! This year is not over yet. Or did you forget the "Last Game"? You see, history is important. I trust you had a great celebration with your umbrellas and brooms. Hang them up in the locker room to remember your great accomplishment (2nd sweep in 4 years). I trust Trinity will go back to work as usual with one goal in mind (6th Title in 7 years). Hope you can make it to the next party. It should be fun!
  6. Come December, I wouldn't trade one of ours for one of yours. Hopefully ours will still be playing.
  7. Who is on the Saint Xavier side of the bracket? District-6-1- Apollo, Daviess County, Graves County, Henderson County, Madisonville-North Hopkins, Marshall County Sorry. It's not going to happen... District-6-2- Central Hardin, Greenwood, Meade County, Nelson County, North Hardin Nope. Saint Xavier has already taken down Manual. Plus they always seem to lose steam in the playoffs. Butler is way down, and PRP is not going to do either. District-6-4- Bullitt Central, Fern Creek, Male, Southern Souther or BC... nope. Male, no way. Who is on Trinity's side of the bracket? Ballard gave Saint Xavier all they wanted without their star RB... District-6-6- Boone County, Campbell County, Conner, Ryle, Simon Kenton Ryle played for the title last year. District-6-7- Henry Clay, Lafayette, Paul Dunbar, Tates Creek Henry Clay has the most talent in the state. District-6-8- George Rogers Clark, Madison Central, Scott County, Shelby County Shelby County has one of the best QB's in the state, but it would be a long shot.
  8. I feel the Rocks played tight the whole game. Kind of like they were pressing, or feeling internal pressure. It was similar to the way Saint Xavier played against Ballard. It was weird. The Tigers played like they had been through it all before. No big deal, just another game. They gave Trinity zero breaks. I see Trinity in the final but I’m not sure there will be a rematch.
  9. Does putting an open umbrella over your head when it's not rain = to 7 years bad luck? Something like that, right?
  10. The best picture from the game...
  11. It is nearly halloween right?
  12. I would switch Coaches Lampley and Glaser.
  13. Correct! The center usually gets down field very quickly on punts any way. Put DJ in the role, and the opponent should have 0 punt return yards.
  14. Does anyone know if the alumni golf event was held this year?
  15. Sorry, I started at the top and worked down. :thumb:
  16. I agree with you. I had no idea the broom was special to the Saint Xavier high school. Just a point of clarification...All the Trinity players, coaches and most of the fans that stuck around to witness the drubbing saw the players sweeping the turf in a taunting fashion at the Trinity players. Actually, if the players did not taunt the Trinity players with the broom after the game, we would not be discussing it. I strongly disagree, and that's OK. Trinity and Saint Xavier do not play for a broom to use in a taunting fashion after the game. IMO, the memories and camaraderie building should not be created by taunting the opposing team. Have fun tonight. Good luck to both teams! :thumb:
  17. I would hope that if any coach sees this happening, they would take immediate actions to stop the taunting.
  18. My goodness, I anticipated Saint Xavier fans agreeing with me that allowing a broom to be used as a vehicle for taunting would be wrong and below the level Coach Glaser and his staff aim to achieve. So you really think allowing Saint Xavier players to taunt Trinity players on the field is acceptable? OK, I guess I have a different point of view. Have a great time at the game.
  19. I hope the Saint Xavier coaches have more control over their players should the varsity Tigers win tonight. The last time Saint Xavier pulled the regular season sweep, I thought allowing the players to run around the field with brooms was done in very bad taste. This rivalry should be above those types of childish antics. They should celebrate, but do it with class. Hopefully this will not be an issue tonight.
  20. That's as good a reason as any in this game. :thumb:
  21. It wasn't Jody.
  22. Thanks for the heads up! This is usually a fun listening experience.
  23. Last night on Fox 9 I noticed many of the Saint Xavier players mentioned last year's rain shortened game as a major motivational factor (retribution, closure, etc.). This will be two "revenge" Trinity games in a row for them. Could a Tiger fan tell us how many starters from this year's team played in last year's game? Will Saint Xavier’s feeling that they need to prove something have any effect in this game?
  24. History tells us that (no more than about 28 points from Trinity in the game lately). Plus this may be Saint Xavier's best defense in several years, and they are ranked #1 in the state in multiple polls (both in state and national). They give up an averaging of 9 points per game and 66 yards rushing. Trinity has problems when they cannot run the ball, and this Saint Xavier team seems to have a run stuffing defense this year. Timmy and the O-line will need to pull out all the stops to have yardage Friday night. :sssh:
  25. Not really. Saint Xavier has won several the past few years.
