On Saturday, I was able to make my first trip to Eminence High School to watch the Warriors face Bellevue in the second game of a double-header that was part of a bowl game. The biggest thing that stuck out to me was that Jordan Pendleton from Bellevue has Old-West grit. The young man was hurt at least twice and came back in to have a very solid all-around game. The game had two scores before several fans had a chance to find a seat. Pendleton opened the dance with a 93-yard kickoff return for the touchdown, and then the Warriors responded with a 57-yard run from one of their many weapons. Jarren Beverly to give the home side the 7-6 lead with 11:22 still on the first quarter clock. Bellevue would get the first turnover, a fumble recovery on a punt return by Kameron Stokes. From there, Pendleton rambled 25 yards to make this a 12-7 game with 7:14 left in the quarter. Three completed passes by the Warriors by Blaze Berry to Kenien Foree set up the last score of the opening quarter, which came on a 7-yard run by Landon Smither. The point-after-kick was blocked by Stephen Specht to keep this a 13-12 game. The Warriors would get a 19-yard run from Beverly and an 18-yard catch from Smither, and it appeared the Warriors were going to drive for another score, but a fumble was recovered by #63 (not on the HUDL roster) with 9:43 left in the half. The Warriors offense was back to work late in the half. At third and twenty-five, Berry used his feet to gain 23 yards. After a Warriors penalty, Berry found #7 (not on the Hudl roster) to convert the fourth and seven. Berry would cap off the first half scoring when he imitated Barry Sanders and scored from 15 yards out to make this a 19-12 score. The Warriors converted a third and twenty with a Berry to #7 with 9:21 left in the third. On their next third down, the Warriors converted the third and third by getting a 16-yard run from Smither. Berry ended the drive with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Avry John Holland, making this a 25-12 game. Raiahn Steed and Matthew Roby teamed up to stop Pendleton for a short loss, forcing a punt. The Warriors would get a 48-yard run from Smither to jump start the ensuing drive that moved into the final stanza. Facing another fourth down, the Warriors converted when Berry found #7 to move the chains. The final score of the game came from a Berry to #9 (not on the Hudl roster) 28-yard touchdown. Berry ran the two-point conversion, making the final score 33-12. Specht would find Benjamin Trimnell for a 36-yard gain, but a fumble by Warrors #51 (not on the Hudl roster) ended any hopes of a Bellevue score. Suffocating defense leads Warren East to a 55-6 win over Christian County On Friday, Christian County and host Warren East squared off in game one of the J Allen Builders Bowl. Things started quickly for Warren East, with Jackson McCool busting free for a 36-yard gain. From there, Brayden Lightfoot, who was wide open, easily caught a pass thrown by Dan Parsley. The 8-play, 75-yard drive ended on a Parlsey 11-yard touchdown run to make this a 7-0 game with 9:50 left in the opening quarter. The point after the kick was nailed by Steven Rodriguez. On the ensuing kickoff, the Colonels coughed the ball up, making the recovery for the Raiders was McCool. The Raiders used just four plays to take the 14-0 lead, with Parsley hitting Jacob Miller for a 19-yard score. When the Raiders got the ball, they again needed 4 plays to make this a 21-0 game on a 2-yard run by McCool, with 6:54 left in the one-sided opening quarter. The Raiders defense got a nice play from Atlas Pinson, who got to the quarterback for a loss of three. This became a 28-0 game when Jayden Richey, a 5-11, 230-pound lineman, picked off the pass by #15 (NOT ON THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY ROSTER) for a 7-yard pick-six. The Raiders defense ended the quarter with a pick from Brayden Tuttle and a sack by Pinson. Just 35 seconds into the second quarter, we had a 35-0 game after Parsley scampered 5-yards for another score. A little over a minute later, the Raiders were back at it, with Parsley hitting Lightfoot for 16 yards. Seconds later, we had a 41-0 game after McCool powered in from 1-yard out. The Colonals were 100% outmatched in this one, but those young men would get a much-needed lift on the ensuing kickoff when Trelle Hasking galloped 88 yards for a touchdown, making this a 41-6 game. Parsley to Lightfoot pass for 35 yards helps set up a 29-yard Parsley touchdown run to make this a 48-7 game, with 3:55 left in the half. Miller would get a pick for the Raiders to end the half and set up the running clock for the second half. The Raiders defense, even with the running clock, was able to get a sack from Pinson and a pick from Parsley. In the final frame, Parsley would get another pick, and then the Raiders offense closed out the scoring with 7:54 left in the game on a 7-yard run from Braden McClusky. I was at this game and this was the deadest crowd that I have ever witnessed. There was no atmosphere at all. Franklin-Simpson looked just good enough to make D.C. look bad.

This one was not as close as the score indicates. The best player on the field was IMO Jordan Pendleton.
