Those were exactly the words and dollar figures that Matney quoted last night on the pregame. Johnson County is not a poor school district by any means. I dont know that I would refer to them as being wealthy , but hardly poor. They have pumped a ton of money into their athletic facilities the last few years. Also one must keep in mind that Big Sandy RECC is the corporate sponsor of the game, not the school district itself. Matney never came out and said it but I had the feeling that Prestonsburg was who he was referring to. I know that PBurg has made a habit out of cancelling baseball games with Central over the years. Sometimes not even showing up without the common courtesy of a phone call. If indeed it is Prestonsburg to whom he was eluding to, I am not in the least bit surprised.

I dont think that it will effect attendence this year, as the game is being played at Paintsville. If the crowd is 2/3's of what it was last year, they'll never get them all through the gates.

Bobby "Porter Waggoner" Kouns I always thought did a fairly decent job back in the early to mid 70's when I played and he should be considered an institution in the 16th Region. I love going to the games now and watching him call the games of my sons. I dont feel nearly as old.

Hey I also forgot to mention that Steinbrenner has decided that, yes, even Putnam..er Yankee Stadium had long outlived it's usefullness . The Yankees are currently building a new stadium to replace the current Yankee Stadium.

Other Dude, I am aware that popcorn boxes, cups, etc. get thrown to the ground on both sides during a game. It was before the game that I saw the junk that I saw while it was still daylight. It wasn't so much the cup, box deal as it was just plain old junk that should have been hauled off to the scrap metal yard somewhere. It wasn't like it was hidden away from view in some remote part of the stadium, it was in plain view as you entered. Yeah I have been to Alumni since it has been "quote " renovated. I stand by my earlier comment. It's the one place that I have truely and honestly hated watching an event at. Hey if you guys are comfortable with your place , that great. I was mostly trying to fun around with GIAT and it was honestly lighthearted comments .(He takes this stuff pretty serious you know.)But, since he has had no real dispute to my claims, then I assume that there may have been some merit to my afore mentioned comments. I'll bet the next time I visit Putnam, I'll bet that the area that I mentioned will be clean as a whistle. What do you want to bet? I'll go one step further and bet that there has already been a little spiffying up that has taken place. I just hope that this time there is some real action footage of Dickie and crew working up those sweat beads.

Kind of exactly the reponse I thought I would get.:lol: Reckless? I just saw what I saw, whether it be the first time or the hundredth time I visited. It's kind of like walking into Alumni Gym. You can talk about tradition and atmosphere all you want . It's still old, dirty, and nasty and should be condemed. Those are just the plain simple facts. I actually hate that place. At Putnam, try walking up the side behind the visitors bleachers and glance to your right underneath the bleachers and look at all of the junk and trash lying around or glance over to your left and look in the doors of the locker rooms (if one of the doors happen to be open)....Pit-e-ful, is all I can say....... Maybe I just caught it all on that one bad day .It's just not what I expected to see, especially, if you read some of these threads and some of the posts glorifying the place as the Holy Grail of football. As I said it could be very nice, your concession area is AOK. Just a helpful hint. Your efforts should certainly be applauded, but how about maybe sending in some of the big guns to help nail this project down. Maybe all you need is Dirk and Dickie to lend a little helping hand to spiffy things up around the area that I mentioned. ..........Just kiddding around there, GIAT.

I have only been to Putnam one time and I will say that I was very disapointed by the nastiness of the complex. I would have thought that as much that I haver read about how great that Putnam is that the Ashland folks would clean it up a little bit. I know it's an old facility and there is nothing wrong with charactor, but there is no excuse in being dirty and nasty. Could be a great place if they took a little bit more pride in cleaning it up, rather than just bragging about the atmosphere. I know what's coming next, I guess I've really went and done it now..
