2009 Lynn Camp
1.) Be Healthy. 2.) Stay Healthy. 3.) Use the Healthy Options. We've had good spring numbers. 7 or 8 play baseball, and have not been around much. Last year, injuries absolutely destroyed us early and it never got any better. Starting TB Wagner had a great night against Leslie in the Pioneer Bowl, 1st game of the season. Out by monday with a knee injury. 2nd game, 2nd option for TB Steele, hurt by the end of the Harlan County game. (Harlan County had a very physical team, and we got banged up so bad mentally and physically that I don't think we were ever the same team again.) 3rd game, Campbellsville, 3rd option TB Napier goes down first play from scrimmage with a broken ankle. We moved Person from TE to RB and the kid had over 1100 yards in 8 games. Our only real options at moving the ball after the 3rd game, consistently, were Tyrone and Jonah Mitchell, the QB. Did not take a lot of planning to stop us due to the limited offense we had to run. Gone is Mitchell, to graduation, along with Baker (OL), Wagner, Herren (Recvr), and the big TE/DE Steven Davis. BUT: This year, early, it looks as though we have 3 or possibly 4 options at moving the ball and a couple of decent options at QB. The QB spot is up for grabs, somewhat, and the front runner will probably be decided in the summer. Right now, I think it's Josh Smith. RB list is fairly deep for us. Dylan Napier, Tyrone Person, Tanner Keith and Wesley Steele all return, along with freshman Jesse Keith. All play a little different, But I look for Napier and Steele to carry the biggest part of the load from the TB/HB position, with Tyrone in the mix at a little of both, plus FB. T. Keith will be a hoss to run from the position, also, and looks to have bulked up and sped up. Junior Jared Ammon could see some touches, also, and will see more playing time on the defensive side of the ball, too. This kid was near impossible to bring down in the JV games last year. Kicking game could still be a mystery until fall. I have no clear picture at this point. He has a knack at staying on his feet and looked good moving the ball in JV games last year. Has a real knack at getting after people. The OL and DL are going to be their usual big front for LC. Baker is gone, but is replaced by Austin Hall, a 6'-3", 340 pound freshman. Sophmores Jonah Sparks and Alsip will see time on the line, along with Junior Daulton Lanham, who will be a monster on both sides of the ball. Brad Bargo returns along with Christian Woolum, Austin Peters, Cody Rickett and senior center Travis Rice. Bargo was a force on defense last year, along with Brandon Disney, who also returns. Reece Ammon, who can be a beast on the Defensive side of the ball, returns with the above seniors. Freshman Ryan Donelley and Junior Dylan Rose will find their way onto the field because of their athleticism. We have some holes to fill and have to find some bodies to fill them and these could be the guys. This could be one of LC's better defensive squads and is already one of the more athletic and physical groups in the last 5 or 6 years. Leadership has to come from somewhere, and I think that will make the difference in what this team does. The schedule favors them IF they decide to play to their full ability. This is a very junior/senior laden team. There is a lot of experience with this group, and a lot of kids got to play due to the injuries from last year. They just have to find senior/junior leadership and cohesiveness to reach the possible success. They need to find some emotion and enthusiasim that was missing last year, too. LC has home games with Whitley County, Williamsburg, Pineville, Campbellsville and Harlan. They travel to Berea, Clinton Co., Lexington Christian and McCreary Central. They will open against Clay County in the Pioneer Bowl at Knox Central. By far, the Lex. Christian and Whitley games are the ones the Cats will be fighting uphill battles in. These are the two games that I think they are going to have to gut out and find themselves in. The other games that they will have to play mistake free ball in could be WHS, C'ville and Clay. The rest are winnable games if the Cats execute. McCreary will probably be a nasty affair at the end of the regular season for both teams. (That is just a hunch. This is a game for LC like the WHS game where the teams just do not care for each other at all!) Most of the kids have worked pretty hard this winter to prepare. Last year was one of those lost seasons that you have from time to time and have to forget and play the next one without looking back. I'll be back with more later and will try to get the rest of the roster posted, too.

Lynn Camp 2009 Schedule
It did not used to be that way. I have no idea what happened, but the scrimmage last year was just another part of the on going saga. Probably since 2000 or '01. Makes for some real interesting nights, though!

Lynn Camp 2009 Schedule
The 4 big ones are WCHS, LCA and then the Armegedon that is Williamsburg and the Unknown that will be MCC. Wagner is going to graduate this year, MB. Healthy, this schedule is good for us. Injured like last year, and it could turn brutal. I'll post more of my takes on it when the official thread is posted. Come on over if you get the chance, Wishes!

Lynn Camp 2009 Schedule
OK, Ram. I was just putting the schedule out for everyone to see. I did not know there was a scheduled issue of threads on the teams, though. Please leave the schedule up top. Go ahead and delete the thread after HDE's prediction and I'll add to it on the BGP scheduled thread.:thumb:

Lynn Camp 2009 Schedule
Which ones are Ls, HDE? I'm figuring more 6-4/7-3 range. I'll break it all down later this spring. We do appear to be healthy going into spring with 2 old options back at RB and a couple of new options there, as well, plus Tyrone. I can't base a lot of last year on anything after the HCHS game. We just plugged holes and hoped for the best when we lost our top 3 RB options. Sunk season. Just let it go and move on was the best option we had when the year ended. Not much to look back on or try to build on. Everyone in Class A has those seasons. Play them, leave them and don't dwell too much on them. Couple of questions at QB after losing Mitchell, plus having to replace Davis/Baker on the line. We played most of the year without Wagner, so some of the younger guys got time at RB and Persons developed a lot (Near 1100 yds in 8 games as a starting TB). IF we don't have the rash of injuries that defined '08 in '09, I look for LC to look a lot more improved. This is going to be a much better/more talented team than many think going into next year.

Lynn Camp 2009 Schedule
Sorry. Fixed it. IV, not VI! I like the schedule for '09, plus the only real change for '10 is that we play Somerset in the Pioneer Bowl V at our place and just switch sites on the others. So, I guess I'll like '10's schedule as well.

Knox Central vs. Lynn Camp updates
Last year, KC was up by 24 and LC cut it to 2 or 3 before KC pulled out a win from the FT line.
