Scott County 62 Rockcastle County 59
I was there and I must say, I'm still not sure what happened. It was, without a doubt, the poorest officiating job I have ever witnessed in my life. It was absolutely heartbreaking for the referees to take over that game and take any chances whatsoever away from the Rockcastle girls. I don't know who those 3 were, but they should have some repercussions. It started out with Sara Hammond picking up two fouls in the 1st quarter on 2 clean blocks. For those of you that don't know her, she is a legit 6'2" and there was nobody on the floor within 5 inches of her. That completely changed Rockcastle's gameplan because she sat on the bench for the rest of the half. Onto the last minute of the game. As was previously said, Rockcastle girls tied up the Scott girl right in front of Rock's bench. The ref right there called a jump ball. All of a sudden, another ref came running from 3/4 of the floor away, saying that SC's coach got a time out. It was pitiful. The last play went like this. Scott missed a FT, up 3, with 8 seconds to go. Rock ran down the floor. Lawrence had the ball, and started to take a shot, and the ball got knocked out of her hands by a Scott player and went out of bounds. I would guess there was a little over a second or so to go. The clock continued to run and the buzzer went off, even though the ball was out of bounds. The refs looked at each other and the female ref made a gesture like "let's go" and they all three RAN to the tunnel. I mean, they absolutely sprinted out of the gym. Rock should have had the ball, under their own basket, with a second or so on the clock. The coaches and teams, as well as all the announcers, seemed stunned and confused. Everyone knew the game wasn't over, but the officials were gone. It looked like someone in a KHSAA vest was going to go and get them for a second, but then he said for the teams to shake hands. It was so bizarre and horrible and I felt so sorry for the Rockcastle girls and coaches. I hate to think that officials have an agenda regarding the outcome of a game, but there was no way not to think so after watching that game. It was such a shame to have adults take it out of the kids' hands. I'm not saying that Rock would have beaten Scott, but this way we will never know. For an event that bills itself "The Greatest Show in Hoops" this sure was a poor showing.

Rockcastle County 69 Murray 36
In the post game interview, Coach Noble also said that Angie Lawrence just bruised her shoulder a little and should be fine. Hopefully that is the case! The definitely need her toughness on the court through these games.

Rockcastle County 69 Murray 36
Final from Diddle Arena. Lady Rockets win very convincingly, shooting 47% from the field. Main concern for the Lady Rockets is the status of Angie Lawrence. She was injured diving for a loose ball. She is questionable at best for tomorrow. Jackie Alexander sprained her ankle, but she was walking on it after the game. Point totals were: Alexander 20 Hammond 17 Lawrence 9 Way to go Lady Rockets!!!:dancingpa:dancingpa:dancingpa

2010 KHSBCA Top 50 Players
There is no Jordan Cessna at Hoptown, it is John Ed Cessna. Jordan Cessna is from Henderson, I think. And besides, any list like that without Justin Hageman from Hopkinsville is not worth it's salt, IMO.

Tradition Unequaled
High point awards are always objective, in the case of a tie there are two awards. In this state meet, with two swimmers having the same points, then it is subjective.

Tradition Unequaled
This is what I understood from those that were there. Krissie and Ellen both had very similar power point numbers for the meet. Krissie is a very well-known USS (United States Swimming) swimmer in the state of Kentucky. All the coaches, many of whom are also USS coaches, know her and watch her year round. The NDA swimmers, including Ellen, generally do not do Kentucky USS meets. Therefore, when it came time for the coaches to name the Outstanding Female Competitior, they voted for the "Kentucky" girl. Maybe not entirely fair, but just the way it goes. It is too bad they couldn't have been named co-winners.

I thought Ellen Williamson had it wrapped up, too.

7th grade middle school State tournament Feb.5-7
:thumb:Thank you, they are both great kids, too. They are both young 13 year olds, so they have a lot of maturing and growing left to do. The Hoptown team also plays a lot of 6th graders, as well, including my son. Hopefully they can stay together into high school and I think they will only continue to improve.

7th grade middle school State tournament Feb.5-7
I'm very proud of the Hoptown team. They lost to Knox last night but played very well. To my knowledge, there are no holdbacks on the team. It all evens out by the time they are in high school, so I look for great things from this team down the road.:thumb:

Where is Ft Campbell's High School?
I very well could be wrong, maybe one of our Ft. Campbell posters could answer for sure. I just know after 9/11, it became a much bigger deal to get on the base. Growing up, my husband and his father used to golf on base quite a bit. There used to be passes you could buy, but I don't know if they do that anymore. A true funny story. One of my good friends is the wife of a (then) Air Force Major stationed at Ft. Campbell. She went into labor with their 3rd child in the early morning hours of October 15, 2001. My friends lived in Hopkinsville and had to drive to the hospital on base to deliver their baby girl. They were detained so long at the main gate that my friend thought she was going to have the baby in the car. She made it to the hospital, but just barely. My whole point is, they don't let just anybody through those gates! They have to know who you are and they know where you are at all times while you are on the premises.
